New in the App Catalog for 26 December 2009 17

by Derek Kessler Sun, 27 Dec 2009 10:09 am EST

App Catalog Just because it’s the day after Christmas doesn’t mean the app drops have to stop. It was Boxing Day, after all. So Palm gifted us with several new apps, ranging from games to wallpaper packs to various utilities and references. All-in-all, not a bad app drop, and we’re so close to one thousand apps we can taste it. And it tastes like... well, we’re not sure what that taste is, but it is interesting - and getting stronger. While we ponder what taste this is, you can jump after the break and check out the list of new apps for yourself.

We just need 15 apps per day for the next five days to reach 1,000 before 2010!

Easy, Brighthouse can make "apps" that display an image of each member of congresss and their affiliated party. If you need a whole lot of nothing, who you gonna call...

Brighthouse is horrible, but Dijit is trying their hardest as well to muck up the App Catalog with as many crap apps as they can. I am still waiting on an app worthy of one dollar. I have seen these apps fly "on" the shelves and haven't seen anything worth spending money on - yet.

don't forget Europa apps

We need more photography apps. The Palm Pre's camera is better than all the other smart phone. Even the 5MP Droid. I've played with it. It take sh*tty photos.

App. Developers, how about some Photo editing Apps ?

more crap apps

DON'T YOU DARE SAY MORE CRAP APPS!! Are you crazy?!
They'll tell you to make ur own.

lol - you remember! I'm flattered.

How is your killer app coming along?

It would be nice if i could download some apps...when is the new update comming out? wtf!!

Jan 7th

You can download more if you install Mvapp, and the terminal program. Once mvapp is enabled, bring up the terminal and type mv bulkmv. You can then move lots of programs beyond the barrier and free up space to download more. Really easy to use. Yes the move programs still work. Search the forum for info on Mvapp and Termial.

Be sure to download Preware system utilities before doing anything else.

I m just waiting for the apps that utilise the gpu to the max. However I do like the paratrooper game.

When will we hit enough apps so that the detailed play-by-plays will end (with their apparently obligatory regurgitation of negative comments about "crap apps") and we start seeing stories about apps available that AREN'T that bad, with reviews?

If there is one app that catches my interest, it is World Watchr, by World Watchr: Tune into public webcams around the globe.

To me the idea of an application store (App Catalog) is not the number of apps that come out that do not appeal to me, but the numbers of apps that I find of interest. I think being able to tune into public webcams around the globe is a fascinating concept. It allows you to get a time capsule view of another culture. If out of 50 new applications or 100 I find even a single app of profound interest or value to me, then that makes the whole activity of scanning the new apps worthwhile. Think about it, in life you do not focus on the things you do not like. You focus mostly on the things that interest you. So stop screaming about all those bad apps; inform us about the apps that you have tried out and you really liked or found out to be a hidden gem :)

Pandora, Twee, Tweed, Crosswords, Newsroom and Google Calendar Search

RadioTime is a killer app. I had been waiting for Flash so I could stream my favorite station...but this program made it possible. It was a little hard to find, as searching for it didn't bring it up(at least when I tried), but it is definitely worth a look.
