App Catalog All that yesterday brought us was updates to existing apps, and only three updates at that. Last week was aa app bonanza of fun, so this is a tad disappointing. Were we spoiled, or is that how it should be from here on out?

Updated apps:

  • Absolute Fitness, $4.99
  • Jobr, Free
  • PocketMirror for Microsoft Outlook, Free: Now syncs notes and memos, task synchronization on the way.

Anyone have Absolute Fitness? I was thinking of picking it up and wanted some more feedback than what is on the Palm store.

See reviews in app catalog, some very interesting reviews. Overall, I think most people said the food items in the system were limited but you can add your own.

you should buy it, by far is one of the best app in the catalog. Its missing some restaurants however it let you enter customize meals and I'm sure as updates we will more restaurants added. Support is outstanding , I wrote them an email and they answered within 24 hrs. I'm surprise is only 5 dollars, I seen online programs of the same quality for 30 dollars.

I purchased the application 2 days ago and overall I am pleased with the application. I am on a weight gain program and was looking for a good way to keep track of my daily food intake. This application will do just that. I agree that the food database is a bit lacking, but it's ok. In order to have accurate stats, I have manually added many of the foods I typically eat at home to the list and combined a few of them to make meals. This is a bit time consuming. Many restaurants list their nutritional values online, so I can go back and add in meals afterward if I need. If I can't find that info, then I'll use the items listed in the database to ballpark it. I do wish that it had an area to keep track of weight lifting stats such as exercise/weight/reps/sets and a report on that. Only listing the fact that I did exercise and a rough estimate of calories burned isn't that useful to me, but may be to others. In researching online, I saw that it first came out on iPhone for $15, which I think is far too much. It is definitely worth the $5 in my opinion, especially since you can export the data.

Spoiled with quantity, but not quality. Hopefully devs will get all the access they need soon. There's a lot of competition out here, and brand loyalty is getting old-fashioned. (Just like marriage) :)

@fastamx79, I have Absolute Fitness and have some Absolute Love for it. I'd been using the BodyBugg system from 24Hour Fitness which had a horrible, crappy, web-login-and-Java-on-IE-only interface and hardly any built-in "normal" foods. Absolute Fitness has a great database built in, and yes, you can definitely add your own custom items.

I most appreciate the quick data entry of new foods. When you're staring at a nutrition facts label for a food that's not in the list, you can literally punch in the numbers (it's smart enough to know those fields are numeric so you don't have to hit the orange key) EXACTLY AS THEY APPEAR by just typing and hitting the enter key in between fields. The way AF keeps the nutrition is exactly the way the label shows it -- something BodyBugg never did. It could take a maximum of 30 seconds to add a new item. Plus, by having your Pre handy all the time, you can enter foods when you're on the road or running errands, something I could never do with BodyBugg because it required so much overhead to get into the system.

The export feature lets you send a nicely-formatted table of exactly what you did throughout the day to a friend via email, which I'm doing...it's just sooooo easy to use, and it shows you the information you need (in very clean Pre UI form) when you're wondering how you're doing each day (green/red "pills" showing percentages of daily values you've consumed).

I honestly think it's the best Pre app yet, other than Evernote. And that's saying a lot, because I've played with a bunch of them. I'm very impressed! And, no, I don't work for them or have any connection with them at all. I've spent a whopping $5 but now I can really keep much better track of what I'm doing throughout the day and achieve my goals.

Did they fix Evernote? I thought everybody had problems w/that. Does it work better now?

Hmmm...I'd never experienced any problems with Evernote myself...

This is going off-topic already, but as far as Evernote goes, I think the Pre app stinks. I'm just using the regular web interface until they put out a proper app.

PocketMirror is not free. It's a 'Free Trial' for 7 days.

And what about us poor sods who actually bought the Pocket Mirror when it first came out? Will we have to pay for the upgrade as well?

I am so happy to be able to sync my Outlook notes. I installed Pocket Mirror and it worked perfectly. It's a little funky getting to the notes.

In Preferences, you can change PocketMirror so it starts on your notes rather than the synchronization screen.

I'm about 10 minutes from finishing an hours-long sync of my 8322 Outlook Notes to my Pre via PocketMirror. I'll be writing up my experiences for the home page shortly. Stay tuned. {Jonathan}

Does Pocket Mirror work with Entourage, or just Outlook?

Just Outlook.
