App Catalog After a few disappointing days in the App Catalog, the apps have roared back with a vengeance. Between new apps and updated apps we broke nearly 100 entries from our last overview. And there’s some good stuff in there, including plenty of games (like Gameloft’s Driver). Of course, games aren’t the only thing to the webOS platform, as we also get new calculators, a unique persistent note-taking app in Jot It, and some fun ways to mix up your, *ahem* dating life. Now I’ve got your interest, eh? Head on after the break to check out the list.

Well, it WAS my 50th birthday...so...thank you!

well I'm happy that the app store is gaining ground. I can't wait to see a pace of 1000 apps a month now that would be fast. I'd like to see a cnn app come out may be a hbo app

For CNN, HBO, FOX, whatever apps, we need to request these in order to get them. We should start a open letter or something to the companies.

My SoundSmart app is live! So cool to see it listed in the app-drop post on PreCentral :) Thanks guys!

Grovee Free is AWESOME. First things first, it takes advantage of Grooveshark's VIP mobile service, so there is a monthly or annual fee. The free title is a bit misleading because although the app is free, and lets you trial grooveshark, to continue using, you have to become a VIP.

But with that, you get access to essentially infinite on-demand music on the go. type in the name of an artist, song, or album, and Groovee Free finds it and streams it. You can make playlists (I do this for albums), and "heart-click" individual songs for quick access to them again later. There's no limit to how many times you play a song, so you can recreate your entire music library in the cloud. This is especially useful on the Pre, since you no longer have to use up your precious gigs on music. And if there's a song that's not on Grooveshark, they have a mechanism (not in the mobile app, but on the website) by which you can upload it.

Compared to the Grooveshark app for webOS, Groovee Free is WAY better. #1, it has a Dashboard widget (Like Pandora). It also hasn't hung up or crashed on me once yet, and buffers songs so well, you'd think you were listening to the native player.(again, unlike the Grooveshark app) There isn't even a long pause between songs, which is pretty amazing. What else? it loads and searches faster, and feels a bit more intuitive than the Grooveshark app, though after using either for a bit you get the hang of it.

The only thing that's missing is Grooveshark radio (like Pandora), but the dev says that's coming in an update. Well, I'd also like the option to post the song I'm listening to to my FB or Twitter feed too (you can do this if you're listening to Grooveshark on your computer)... I'll post to their twitter feed and see what they say.

At any rate, long description because the app is really great and hasn't gotten many stars because of the VIP cost/name confusion, and people giving it zero stars because they want it to be free forever (which is ridiculous). I hope it takes off to keep it well supported on webOS.
