New in the App Catalog for 28 January 2010 29

by Derek Kessler Fri, 29 Jan 2010 7:22 am EST

App Catalog Sometimes there are simply light days in the App Catalog. We suppose it makes up for the days that come with baked in awesome. At the very least we have one developer that has released a free version of a much-maligned type of app, presumably to judge the kind of interest such an app would generate if freely available instead of being a paid app. So far, the download count’s not looking so good for... well, lets see if you can guess which I'm talking about.

New apps:

  • Awesome Sayings for Free, Free, by Dijit: “Awesome” sayings for you phone’s wallpaper.
  • Currency Converter, $4.99, by Prolog: Convert 150 currencies with up-to-date conversion rates.
  • Outline Tracker Free, Free, by Hominid Software: Trial version of Outline Tracker, limited to 50 list items.
  • Tire Size Calc 2.0, Free, by Spyder Speak: Calculate your speedometer differential and clearance change when putting on differently sized tires.
  • World Time Pro, $2.99, by Victory Link USA: Manage multiple lists of city times with alarms and maps.

Updated apps:

  • Connect 4, $4.99
  • gDial Pro, Free
  • gpsDashboard Free, Free
  • Visual Voicemail, Free

dijjit has to go. Why would anyone pay for any of their "apps". No need for their free ones either. imo

Please don't waste space on the comment board about apps you don't like.It makes me dislike you more than dijjit.

Who made you the pre|central police...lol

+1
CG... I think I have just as much of a right (if not more of a right) to comment on crappy apps, than you have to tell people what they should and should not comment on! Didn't you even read the article? The app/dev in question was even alluded to in the text.

My bad your right.I glanced at the article.Just that dijjit sticks out on alot of post. Not in a good way.You do have more right than me.I apologize.

At least pfd didn't just say FIRST!

And who the hell are u supposed to be for us to make you happy.

world time pro is a homebrew grad I think

Wow, Dijit came out with a free app...but still has to due with wallpapers...lmao

I cant believe there are reviews on the leeches apps. Who was stupid enough to waste money on his garbage..

Well some idiots are buying them, and the $50 "friction point" doesn't seem to be slowing him/them down. Does he really sell over 50 copies of each app?

dijji apps are useless and does nothin but take up space any 3rd grader with a computer can give me the same type of apps there puttin out

I'm guilty of this myself, but perhaps we should try not to discuss apps by Dijit/Brighthouse/etc when the new app list is released everyday. Other developers' apps released on the same day will never get any mention in these discussion boards which is a shame since I'm sure there are some that deserve to be discussed.

I think it would help if these apps were listed at the bottom and bunched together, but I'm not sure the Precentral folks would want to blatantly seem biased towards certain developers. And ideally they would be listed in a microscopic-sized font...or maybe with a white color (or very light grey). Ok now I'm just dreaming. :)

I second the motion for white colored font! Lol

Who knows he might be a very young developer.

That doesn't exactly give him/her/it an excuse to litter the app catalogue with junk. I believe Apple's looking to shut down these spammers from their App Store, Palm should do the same.

Seems there's an issue with the feeds. My app (Tune Your Guitar) was also updated yesterday, as was Fuel.

Ooh, boy, more really exciting applications, so you can pay to do what's already free on the web. Yawn. How can I possibly take this thing seriously?

How about giving us some control over organizing photos on the device...I miss Splash Photo

does anyone else think connect 4 is ridiculous at $5 selling point? I'd buy it if it was like $2 at most.

Any comments abt the gpsDashboard ? will try it out today..

Derek how can we send you a message? email address?

Honestly, you guys do provide great humor. Its along the lines of the Salem Witch-hunt Trials http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salem_witch_trials calling Dijit spammers.

Dijit is a publishing platform in the form of web widgets and mobile applications.

We've had several write-ups regarding our widget platform and our future support of mobile.

http://mashable.com/2009/02/10/dijit/

http://www.socialtimes.com/2009/04/dijit-looks-to-mobile-for-widget-futu...

If you do a little searching on Google and/or Xlr8 Mobile our former name you'll notice the many press announcements regarding licensing deals and etc.

I call it a witch hunt, at first we were accused of stealing artist content, but again if you search or goto our web-sites premium gallery page http://www.dijit.com/gallery/gallery.aspx?premium=yes you can see all of the artist we work with. Then we were accused of stealing wallpapers off the internet, yet again license content or wallpapers we've created those wallpapers ourselves and you'll see them on other carriers as we are a mobile content aggregator, and now we are accused of stealing porn on the internet. It'll never end.

But...its become good humor.

You should NOT find it humorous that you are stinking up the catalouge. Your apps are NOT worth the space they take up yet you put out so many. Each of the apps you put out could have easily been ONE app. What is the difference between the first garbage app you put out and the last garbage app you put out. You should be ashamed to call yourself a developer as a developer myself I'm ashamed to call you one of us. When you release an app you should be focusing on the quality of the app not thinking of the profit gain and how many can I piss out like itz a hotdog eating contest. Have you taken a look at your reviews there is NOT ONE positive review. Everyone can't be wrong.

The only thing humorous here is YOU and the piss POOR apps you put out. And I am writing this not to simply put you down but to build you UP. I thought a child was putting these apps out. You should demand more from yourself. I like to see this platform grow stronger but we are only as strong as our weakiest link and thay is YOU. Good Luck to you in the future and hopefully I see a quality app from you

humerous...

Ur chicks are hot keep em coming plz
