With space for as many apps as you want (until you hit that physical 7 GB space limit), Palm is now free to dump as many and as large apps as they like into the App Catalog. Of course, they were before, but they were invariably met with cries of derision about the app limit. No more! So now we’re getting more apps, slowly creeping up on that magical one thousand count. What Updated Apps list would be complete without yet another useless app by Brighthouse Labs for just $1.99.
I mean whose the genius at Brighthouse? We have Fandango for free, and they are offering a movie finder app for 3bucks not 2. Are you kidding me? But, the reality is that there are probably enough idiots with this phone to actually buy apps from Brighthouse to keep them profitable. Scary huh? Those would be the same people that respond to spam offers in their email inboxes! LOL!
With the app catalog out of beta are we finally to a point where Brighthouse has to pay $50 per app submission? I still don't think that will stop them, but it might slow them down a little at least. My guess is that palm is still burning through apps that were submitted before the $50 fee came into effect and Brighthouse probably loaded the system as much as they could prior to the fee taking effect.
All things being equal, shouldn't Brighthouse have released one theater finding app for every town in the US?
or one for every room in every theater in every town.
alright stop the bitching and mocking the situation....just be happy new sdk graphics etc is on the way....its beyond annoying to hear you guys bitch ...dont look at the updated daily new to aps. Your bitching will scare news pre and pixi buyers when they should see and notice that the OS and sdk is only getting better
Calm down buddy. There is nothing wrong with them making fun of Brighthouse labs. So far, that is the only Developer insulted in this section which is pretty good. And seeing as how they do nothing but Spam tha App Catalog I would say insult away.
i am calm buddy...i am not the one bitching....I am the one watching from the sidelines how team PALM is continuing to get better....yes they came out with os and pre to early so if you have a different mindset more like me I am happy with the progress.....You clowns that bitch about the aps should only purchase the phone after the aps you like were in the store .....how dumb are you guys who buy the phone then? Its like guarantee bitching......WOuld love to hear your rebuttals!!!! do me a favor and make it worth my while.....and use some logic......who buys a phone knowing the aps he wants are not in the store and is not patient ....guaranteed down fall.,......
True!
I personally enjoy being a part of the growth process with Palm. I've never stayed this excited by a phone for this long before. Everyday I jump on my Pre and this website to see what new and exciting things Palm will do next.
I have had my Pre since the launch date and it still seems new and fresh. Almost daily there is something new coming down the pipe. Granted some of these features should be no-brainers, but I am satisfied that Palm is working hard to improve the OS.
Less than 7 months and almost 1000 apps is better than any others have done. Ongoing, and frequent OS updates alone should suggest that Palm is moving in the right direction.
Logical minds think alike.....Anybody who bitches should have the nickname MOBY!!! Let me stop myself there because he said an 8 year old wrote my last comment so I will refrain from name calling since its so babyish!!! Use logic in life it will make you a happier person. If statement: If aps are not in store and I purchase the phone will the aps just magically appear or maybe I should wait till they show up and make progress? Hmmmmmm
I'll bitch all I want to. Who the hell are you to tell me what to do. I'll continue to do so until decent apps are released. I'm tired of all these crap apps. The Pre has been out for 6 months and it has absolutely the WORST app catalog out of all the smartphones. I'm seriously considering getting a Droid. Atleast it has decent apps, and is on a decent carrier. Sprint's coverage in my area is downright awful.
Now go ahead and reply with the standard "why don't you write your own apps", or "don't let the door hit you on the way out", or "good riddance" replies. I can't wait to read them, you babies.
some one call the whaaambulance. Salvag must have gotten sand in her......
well if you dont have anything better to do with your life go bitch and get a fcking andrion.....who the hell told you to get a palm phone......this os is in the nascent stage....and no i wont tell you to go develop i rather tell you to go get laid and stick it up your ass......you have every right to bitch once the full sdk comes out and you have nothing to play with.....go try building a 80 story building if you dont have the tools...have fun you
Is this English? It sounds like an 8 year old retard is talking.
And why don't you go stick your Pre up your own ass. I'm sure it's nice and loose.
You are right my last comment was not capitalized and punctuated correctly. I do apologize for my mistakes and if it was hard for you to read and understand I do apologize once again. But do me the favor and use some logic. If one knows that the aps store doesn't have the aps you like then why buy the phone. You must me a very, very miserable person who needs to get laid. Do me the favor when you move to the Android stick the pre up the ass and in unison if possible activate the fart ap!!! Well I might have to retract that last comment bc knowing you, you probably didn't download that aps bc it sucks. However in this case you sticking the pre up your ass and then activating fart ap would be rather funny. You see every ap at one time will be useful.....You got to love people who are very logical and are miserable with their life and need to bitch!!
We have ourselves flame poster of the week!
?????
LMAO! Now that comment has me laughing out loud at my desk!!!
I am happy that last comment made you laugh

Another classy way to say after the break!
Something really weird happened to me: Right after the 1.3.5 update, with none of the above mentioned apps in the catalog, Where updated for me. It really confuzed me until the new apps hit, then it confused me more!
Sorry, wrong post
Ahh, all these apps and I can't download them. I get an "Install Failed" or a "Restart Needed." Then, after I restart it's still no dice.
Anyone else having this problem? Any thoughts?
Options in order of preference:
1) Look at the forums. (It's been discussed, look for Emergency Migration Helper, which had an article with a crap Photoshop yesterday.)
2) webOS Doctor
3) Wait for 1.3.6 (which honestly, given the prevalence of this issue, better be coming).
I had that issue. A Partial Reset in Device Info fixed it.
I am having an issue in the lpkg Repository Viewer. It appears to recognizing the phone, but I get a "Error Downloading Package Feed" and then, after clicking OK, it says "ERROR: Invalid Feed URL".
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the issue? I am a rookie here and would really like to experience the homebrew apps, but I am getting frustrated and about to give up.
Thanks for the help!
Is that in Preware? It sounds like you need to reinstall it.
It first happened when using Quick Install. I then tried to use Preware and still get the same message.
Dude! My freakin head's gonna' explode. I cannot for the life of me figure out why something as simple as DIFFERENT SOUNDS FOR DIFFERENT NOTIFICATIONS is STILL not a part of this phone, via app or update. I don't care HOW but I would REALLY like to know if I'm receiving a text from my wife or an email from my office when I'm on the other side of the room or in the middle of a meeting with my phone in my pocket. HOW HARD IS THIS??? Why did the phone I used going back to 2007 manage this with ease and this "cutting edge" Pre can't? And no, I don't want to have to hack my phone to do it. Hacking my Pre doesn't really get me all excited.
You really need to check out the Preware homebrew app. The homebrew community has gone to great lengths to provide solutions to this and many other issues. I was hesitant to use it at first, but tried it and I LOVE IT! All the instructions you need are posted on this site. My Pre is still very snappy and I have had no problems resulting from these patches. Even though you must uninstall themes and patches to install OS updates, they have made it very easy and during this last update, it took about 15 minutes to update this time(minus update download time). Try it out. It opens up a whole world of possibilities.
I agree with snookpirate. If the stuff is available make it part of the update. At least some of the stuff that people complain over and over about. I'm a homebrew user so don't get on my ass. I put some stuff on a friends pre, he had a problem, and without even letting me doctor it he brought it in. They told him the little penguin was the problem. They tried to get him to buy a new phone, but he took it to another place and they fixed it. He wont let me touch his phone anymore Lol. It would be so easy to implement some of these things wouldn't it? At least easier for us. Let homebrew be for testing apps like precorder or any of the other apps. Just implement some of the patches is all I'm saying.
I have to say, I'm a little confused as to why some people do not want to try the Homebrew solutions that are available to Pre owners out there.
I understand that it was a little intimidating in the beginning, but now it's so simple to use now. There are also safeguards in place to prevent damaging your phone in any way.
With just a small amount of time to set up, you will have the Preware app that acts like an app catalog. Just tap, browse, select and go. (You may need to restart your phone for them to take effect). There are over 300 apps, over 130 patches, and 800 themes. Something for everyone, guaranteed!
I currently have 50 apps and 25 patches ranging from additional launcher pages, more icons per launcher page, percent sign for battery, green top bar fonts, 3000 autoreplace words for texting, audio/video attachments, increased web bookmarks, char. counter for texting, LED notifications, Multiple app landscape features, haptic touch response, hide quick launch bar, seperate cards for text convos, alert and notification tones, unthrottled downloads, video download capability, wrap pages patch that allows me to swipe from the last page to the first page, and auto reset to first launcher page. And just today I loaded an app that allows me to send files to other phones through SMS. Sweet!
Other than the much awaited flash and GPU utilization, my Pre does just about everything I need it to and more.
The word "hack" is too intimidating. These are available simply by downloading the Preware app which does all the work for you. You don't have to be a computer guru to figure this out. All the info you need is available through this website. Don't knock it until you try it. Once you do you'll wish you had done it sooner. Thanks Homebrew!
Alright. I'll give it a shot. Normally I wouldn't think twice about "toying" with things. It's just that the thought of how negatively it would effect my ability to manage my business if my phone took a dump makes me nervous.
PreWare is the answer.
I replied to the wrong person so my response above should be down in this area here. Thank you.
