O2 Germany drops price of Palm Pre, throws in a Touchstone for good measure 16
Still looking to pick up a GSM Palm Pre on O2? If you’re the type to sign a contract in exchange for a subsidized price on the phone (admit it, you are), then you’re in luck. Not only will a two-year contract with O2 get you a subsidized Palm Pre, it’ll cost you less than before. New O2 contract customers can expect to fork over just €49 upfront to get a new Palm Pre. They’ll then pay €15 a month over the 24-month contract to pay back the rest of the reduced €409 total cost (down from €481 previously). Or you can just buy it for €409 without any contract. And to sweeten the deal, O2 is also throwing in a Touchstone with the appropriate back for free, regardless of whether you’re going to contract route or not.
Thanks to docjones for the tip!

Man I want that in the US.
Lucky O2 peeps, I will be getting this Pre sometime this week, but I am going to have to wait on getting the touchstone.
Just to clarify things...the reduced price is in effect for 2-3 weeks now, my wife jumped on the Palm-Pre-train at about 2 weeks ago when noticing the discount.
And the 24-month-"contract" is ONLY for the unlocked phone, there is no phone contract or data plan connected with it. Simply put, the unlocked phone costs 409
WORD!
it seems, that precentral never get it right, if the source is not in English. maybe they should simply ask someone what it means, before writing some half baked stuff.
Wow, that's cheap! O2 in Ireland charges
Touchstone charging kit has been free from O2 UK since a few months now as well as ~$110 cashback, guess they're trying to boost wavering sales.
OK, very nice but now Palm:
1)make the GSM Pre Plus with 16 GB
2)sell the Plus with 16 GB in MORE countries in Europe for 459-479
More countries... I agree. But are you not aware that buying applications from the App Catalog will be made available next month, March 2010?
...otherwise known as the GSM Pre dev unit with the weird keyboard.
The awesome Palm Pre keyboard is beautiful. I love typing on it, with its tactile feedback. I have medium sized hands and I can type about three lines of text before hitting a wrong key. The keyboard is also great because it can be closed to hide under the screen giving us a full screen to browse and view the web.
So, for those of us whose contract with AT&T is FINALLY ending, any info on a Sprint price drop? I'm ready to jump, but we're in blizzard, so it won't be until the weekend.
You'd think there would be some serious incentives with Sprint's Pre/Pixi phones now that Verizon's got the Plus units...
The Touchstone back-cover for the Palm Pre makes the phone look and feel so much trendier. Sprint should do the same thing.
I am SO pissed right now. I travel from Denmark to Flensburg in Germany to get this offer. When i got to the store the sales person told me that the Touchstone ONLY was for free if you got the contract. So i got two phones for 409 euro each without contract and NO Touchstone. I could not understand why and know i see that i was right.
Is there some German people here that can help me?
That was a clear lie. Also as the website says back cover and touchstone are included, regardless of any contract. My wife bought her Palm Pre+Touchstone+Backcover for the said 409
This was also in an official O2 shop. I have contacted O2, but they say i shall contact the shop in Flensburg. I will try to fax them. As i am not German :-S
Maybe you should also consider contacting your embassy in Germany for help. If you are still having problems, contact Palm in the US.
