O2 Germany Sells Pre to More Interesting People, More Interestingly 36

O2 and Palm appear to be making a pretty big push in Germany. Above, a video sent in by Azthel which proves that German Pre owners clearly lead more interesting, more eventful, and ultimately more fulfilling lives than you do. Sorry about that, but we endeavor to report the facts here.
Speaking of comparisons, the German philosophy of providing healthcare has apparently inspired a crafty campaign - dr. palm. At right, see one of several images from webos-blog.de [Thanks, Julian!], who toured the new 'offices' where said doctor can prescribe touchstones, intravenous music, and the like.
European readers - tell us: what's the anticipation level like out yonder in the face of this week's official launches?

The anticipation level of the target market is nonexistent in the UK. The only people who know anything about the Pre are those who are getting one. Even the O2 staff know little outside of the release date (at best). It is disappointing in comparison to the promotion 02 has done in Germany and very disappointing considering the UK launch is on Friday.

Much much much better than our ads in the US. I think this gave the Pre a way cooler style of life than the weird girl they use in our ads.
This pre commercial is better then all the American pre commercials combined.

Agreed. But this is O2 network's ad, not Palm's. The apples-to-apples question is how do you think this compares to the Now Network commercials from Sprint? I think it's close and both are very good in different ways, but I would give the edge to Sprint's commercials.
This is NOT the Palm Pre commercial. It is a general commercial for o2 Germany. The Pre only makes a guest appearance in that spot. She says we want you to go online where, when an how you want. THE Palm Pre advertisement will air on the launch date Oct-10.

Sure - you're right. Simple typo.
I think O2 really crapped the bed when it came to pricing the Pre. Also, not offering it pay as you go was a mistake. Appalling pricing along with poor advertising makes for a horrible campaign. I love the Pre, think it's an amazing device, but I'm sadly disappointed that I'll now have to wait even longer before owning one.

I'm so happy about the first Pre Commercial. But this was not a Commercial of the Pre, noone can see how it works. But i think about the massive Act of iPhone Spots at the last few Days, more then ever. Did Apple notice there is a better Smartphone by Palm? O2 can do!

Just about 7 hours left here in germany before the O2 release party starts for the pre :-)
I was lucky enough to get an invitation and get my hands on the pre an day before the official german launch.
Iam curious what firmware version it runs and how fast updates come for the europe pre's.
We already know that the current fw is 1.1.3!
Oh my god, just had it in my hands!!! Seems strange when you already know all functions from all those youtube vids but put your hands on it for the first time... Can't wait till it's mine.
German o2 Store guy told me Touchstone+Back Cover will be around 35
Would not recommend sitting in a bathtub with a Pre. Dang phone would slip right out of hand and it would be another Death of a Palm Pre.

This ad tells me almost nothing about what the Pre can do (language barrier be damned), but it DOES tell me how boring Americans are, at least according to OUR stinkin' commercial.
