Attack of the blurry cam! Over at webOS Blog.de they've gotten their hands on some shots of a live O2 Palm Pre from Germany, complete with blue-themed box sleeve, European plug, and that QWERTZ keyboard. As expected, apart from the preponderance of German it's not much different than the Pre that we have in North America (well, that and a SIM card slot and GSM radios).
Two more shots after the break, and even more at webOS Blog.de.

I thought the packing of the Pre for Sprint was very nice.
wait, they have a sim card spot??!
PPPPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
GSM tends to get sim slots.
I don't get why they have to be different and use a qwertz.. whats the gain of swaping the y and z
"German keyboards ... interchange the Z and Y keys, both because Z is a much more common letter than Y in German (Y seldom appears except in borrowed words) and because T and Z often appear next to each other in German. Consequently, these are known as QWERTZ keyboards, and occasionally "kezboards".

Is there anything Wiki can't answer?

Apparently not.
Why is this news worthy ?? Blue box ?? So ???
Because it's another piece of proof that the GSM Pre is real and close to shipping...
Ok, when does the US version get the SIM card slot?
Would a UK model have a QWERTY or a QWERTZ keyboard? I currently have the CDMA version with Bell, but I would be interested in getting a GSM version for my brother who's on the Rogers/Fido network.
Since the main language in the UK is not German, the UK Pre will have a QWERTY keyboard.
"Since the main language in the UK is not German, the UK Pre will have a QWERTY keyboard."
...polite but very factual!
In Australia we get confused with Austrians at times...pity Palm distribution didn't get us confused too and send us a supply of GSM pre's!
QWERTY.

Does anyone know how the system software would update if the phone was used in a foreign network? (as this seemed to be carrier-dependent...)
Yeah, I've been wondering about that too...
I don't think there should be a problem since server will recognize PRE based on it's IMEI instead of sim-card or network that is attached to.
I always wondered if WebOS loaded into Europe spec PREs will have different version numbering than the one on Sprint because I am sure Europeans will not get NFL and NASCAR apps by default. And that alone makes it not equal to WebOS used on Sprint.
Will WebOS go regional like most of the smartphones?
