Official: Palm Pre Releases on June 6th, $199 after contract 203

by Dieter Bohn Tue, 19 May 2009 7:16 am EDT

The news just came across the wires, folks.  June 6th. $199 after $100 mail in rebate and a 2 year contract.  Believe it.

It will be at Sprint Stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, and Wal-Mart.  The Touchstone dock will be available on the same day, $69.99 for the dock and battery door, or $49.99 for the dock alone and $19.99 for the battery door.

We've had a few rumors that stock will be pretty thin across the country, so we're going to go ahead and recommend you start lining up now.

Full Press Release after the break!

Digital-age-defining Palm webOS phone is built for consumers and businesses alike, powered by America's most dependable nationwide 3G network, with the best price plan value

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May. 19, 2009-- Sprint (NYSE: S) today announced pricing and nationwide availability for the highly anticipated Palm® Pre™ phone, offered exclusively from Sprint. Palm Pre will be available nationwide on June 6 in Sprint stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, select Wal-Mart stores and online at Sprint.com for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate. Running on the new Palm webOS™ mobile platform, Pre brings together your important information from where it resides – on your phone, at your work or on the web – into one logical view.(1)

For those who juggle life circa 2009 – bouncing from conference call to car pool schedule, from doctors’ numbers to doctoral thesis data, from social calendars to social networking – Pre marks a new wireless crossover standard. Before Pre, you had to compromise when selecting a wireless phone. To get the business features you needed, you had to sacrifice the personal entertainment features you wanted. Pre consolidates your important information – professional, social and personal – into one revolutionary device using an operating system that redefines the experience of living and working wirelessly.

“The argument that you need one phone for work and another phone for play, or that you have to make compromises between business and lifestyle productivity, is over,” said
Dan Hesse , president and CEO of Sprint. “With Pre, compromises of the past are history.”

Palm Pre will run on America’s most dependable 3G network and come with Sprint’s industry-leading, value-oriented Everything Data plans that offer savings of up to $1,430 over two years vs. comparable AT&T and Verizon plans for smartphones and PDAs.(2)

“The Palm Pre takes full advantage of Sprint’s Everything Data plans,” said
Avi Greengart , research director for Consumer Devices at Current Analysis. “The Pre has been expressly designed for multitasking among multiple web pages and applications. It also builds on Palm’s heritage in PDAs by managing your digital information – whether that’s on a corporate server or on the web.”

"The Pre's dynamic 'activity cards' approach to handling and navigating multiple applications is a great advance, but the core breakthrough is the integration of information across multiple applications on and off the phone," said
Andy Castonguay , director of Mobile & Access Devices Research, Yankee Group. "With social networking and messaging being so important to consumers, the device’s new ‘Palm Synergy’ functionality – which gives Pre the ability to automatically pull friends' contact details, messaging addresses and personal calendars from different applications online and on the phone – will greatly simplify people's ability to communicate with their friends and colleagues the way they want."

Pre: A New Kind of Phone

The new webOS platform introduces Palm Synergy™, a key feature that brings together your personal and professional calendar, contacts and e-mail into one centralized view, making transitions between work and personal life smooth and easy to manage.

With Palm Synergy, users get:

  • Linked contacts – With Synergy, you have a single view that links your contacts from a variety of sources, so accessing them is easier than ever. For example, if you have the same contact listed in your Outlook(3), Google and Facebook accounts, Synergy recognizes that they’re the same person and links the information, presenting it to you as one listing.

  • Layered calendars – Your calendars can be seen on their own or layered together in a single view, combining work, family, friends, sports teams, or other interests. You can toggle to look at one calendar at a time, or see them all at a glance.

  • Combined messaging – Synergy lets you see all your conversations with the same person in a chat-style view, even if it started in IM and you want to reply with text messaging. You can also see who’s active in a buddy list right from contacts or e-mail, and start a new conversation with just one touch.

Palm webOS lets you keep multiple activities open and move easily between them like flipping through a deck of cards. You can move back and forth between text messaging and e-mail, or search the web while you listen to music. You can rearrange items simply by dragging them, and when you are done with something, just throw it away by flicking it off the top of the screen.

Finding what you need is also easy with universal search – as you type what you’re looking for, webOS narrows your search and offers results from both your device and the web.(4) WebOS crushes the barriers to true mobile computing.

“Pre is truly a new phone for a new web-centric age,” said
Ed Colligan , Palm president and chief executive officer. “We’re a mobile society, and we want our people, calendars and information to move with us. With Pre’s exquisite design and the unique webOS software, running on Sprint’s fast broadband network, we’re changing the perception of what a wireless phone can be.”

Pre comes with a charger in the box, but for anyone tired of plugging a cord into their wireless phone, Palm introduces the Touchstone™ charging dock, the first inductive charging solution for phones, available exclusively for Pre. Simply set Pre down on top of the dock without worrying about connection, orientation or fit. Pre is active while charging, so you can access the touch screen, watch movies or video, or use the speakerphone. Set Pre on the charging dock when you’re on a call, and the speakerphone automatically turns on; when you take a ringing Pre off the dock, Pre automatically answers the call. Other mobile operating systems allow multitasking, but Palm has developed an intuitive method of switching between "cards,” which resemble clicking different tabs on a Web browser. New applications can be launched easily using the "Launcher" software button at the bottom of the home screen, and users navigate between different applications.

With nearly every wireless device today you have to exit one application completely before you can use another. That’s not what people are accustomed to; think of your PC and all the applications you can have open at one time.

Pre: The latest NOW Network milestone for Sprint

Pre also lets you access feature-rich Sprint content on the Sprint Now Network, including exclusive applications such as:

  • Sprint Navigation(5)

  • Sprint TV

  • NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile Live

“Sprint’s Now Network brings you America’s most dependable 3G network, the largest push-to-talk community, and in selected markets Sprint is the only national carrier bringing 4G to life in 2009,”(6) Hesse said. “The Now Network is more than just a physical network – it’s also data plans that are all-inclusive, eliminating fear of data overages and a perfect fit for Palm Pre users.”

Sprint’s networks are now performing at best-ever levels, and Sprint’s high-value Everything data plans consistently beat AT&T’s and Verizon’s comparable plans in savings by hundreds, even thousands, of dollars over two years. With the revolutionary launch of Ready Now, which Sprint pioneered, customers leave the store educated, comfortable and confident about the phones they’re about to take home. As a result of these measures and more, Sprint customer satisfaction indices – from first call resolution to billing satisfaction, from customer care response time to service and repair – have all significantly improved during the past year.

Pricing and Availability

The Palm Pre phone will be available from Sprint on June 6 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year service agreement on an Everything Data plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan. An array of compelling accessories also will be available for Pre, including the Palm Touchstone charging dock. The Touchstone™ Charging Kit, which includes the Touchstone charging dock and Touchstone back cover for Pre, will be available June 6 for $69.99. The Touchstone charging dock and Touchstone back cover also are available separately from for $49.99 and $19.99, respectively.

Sweet! Finally some closure... Now where does the line end? Begin?

Thanks Palm, can't wait to get my hands on one. Pricing, not bad, everything Data Plan, was planing on that anyways, Glad it wasn't the Simply everything plan! Didn't need that much!

Long time Sprint customer sticking with you Sprint!

I think the fact that walmart will be distributor as well means you don't have to worry about a line. This means they will have plenty of inventory coming on stream.

calling sprint and ordering one, it will come to my house and no lines to wait through. also will be over the air activation, no hassles. sprint is the best

I'm queuing already ... where is everybody?

fools will que up. My store has waiting list. Get on store waiting list and then also order online from bestbuy and sprint. these are returnable at no cost.

order on sprint.com , free shipping and handling and activation fees waived. hey sprint customer services is outstanding, they speak english !!!! I was with ALLTEL the customer service there is rude and crude. sticking with sprint, you get the best

OMG, are you all having multiple and simultaneous O's over this stupid phone? I'll wait and see what happens... my guess is that it'll have lots of flaws and will cost much more $ once you replace all the software you have on your Centro, or pay for the software to run the software on your Centro!

Very interesting! I always wanted to get a Palm and I just found you can modify Drupal content on it. I'm using drupal often and I need it fast usually.

Nice start to my Birthday. Happy B-day to me ! 199 is right where is should be for price few more weeks is right in line with spoiling the Apple Convention.

That is my birthday too! What a great present! If I only I hadn't dropped my current phone in the river last weekend!

you should of had the insurance, they would of replaced it

$299 still isn't a bad price. I can't wait to purchase my new birthday gift. Thank you Sprint.

$199

$299 with a $100 mail in rebate (you know, cuz they bank on you not mailing those things in)

No - he's right with the $299 - that's why there's a $100 rebate - think of those people that say "yeah, I'll mail in that rebate next week".. . and then somehow forget to do that.. .and the final rebate date passes by... whoops - now you paid $299 for the phone.

Buy it at Best Buy don't fall for the mail-in rebate scam.

$200. rebates on sprint are quick and idiot proof...although there are always idiots.

Those are known as super idiots

So BestBuy doesn't do the rebates and gives you the discounted price? I've never bought a phone from BestBuy and I haven't heard about this policy. Also, I have a BestBuy gift card. Does anyone know if I can use it to buy the Pre? Thx...

Yes... you can use your gift card...and there are instant rebates!! you might want to check first too and see if they will allow pre orders like they did with the blackberry storm. that way you are guaranteed one

About Time...Happy Tuesday

Glad to see they went with realistic pricing on the device. There is still going to be a withering price war on plans this summer so I have doubts they will hold to the Everthing plans requirement for long.

Think about that for one second... Can you really afford to have a phone that is constantly connected to the Cloud without an everything data plan? The appeal of the Pre is that it syncs your world using Facebook, Exchange etc. OVER THE AIR. Without an everything data plan, you'd be over your data allotment after the first day!

When they set this rule, there was more than just greed behind it... Well scratch that, when they said ppl can't use SERO, that might have been greed.

Unlimited data is 15/month. I don't need unlimited minutes, text msgs and all of Sprint TV.

So just go for the Simply Everything plan with only 450 minutes. I think its $69 per month

data plans arent that much, you can get a data plan with 450 minutes and if ya have a employee discount you are getting a real bargain, i called customer service and talked to them told them what kind of plan i was looking for , they were awesome and very helpful

Yes! Finally! Now, just give us the word on the GSM/UMTS-version so us Europeans can have something to look forward to...
/Kallisti

Yeah ... when is it coming to the UK?

this is one of those times I'm so glad to be in the USA

No offense, Simon Cowell

That is until the euro/uk version comes out with super fast actual 3.5G.

Role on!!!!

AHHHH!! IT HAS COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Sorry for getting carried away. Go Diet!

I have a Everything Plus Plan that starts from $59.99. Do I still qualify for the Mail In Rebate?

yes you qualify for the rebate, just print the rebate form off on sprint.com , purchase the phone and send in the form with proof of purchase within 30 days after you purchase your phone

Happy, but sad because the tech specs or the news release tell us nothing more about the Pre than has been out for a long time.

Perhaps that's so they can save the "shock & awe" portion as they build towards June 6th???

They are going to want to build the excitement levels up, why say everything in this announcement? Why not save the goodies for the ads to come in the next few weeks??

Just a thought & I could be wrong, but that's my theory for the moment.

PAAAAAALM!!
THAAAANKS!!

Pre Blog does mention Radio Shack as well as select Walmart stores. Didn't pick up on that before.

Not that I care. I live in unPre-Europe, so I have to suffer even more now that I know when you all will have one, but not when I can pick up mine...

Whoot There It Is!!! Whoot There It Is!! Come on now Louder, WHOOT THERE IT IS!!!!!

wooohoooooo!!!

Now, there won't be a problem w/ multiple rebates, will there? I'm doing a family plan move over, so both my brother and I will get a pre, while my sister and mother will get Lotus's likely. A lot on the line rebate wise, heh

You should go to bestbuy...no rebates!

I just came :)

I just jizz my pants too lol :)

I really do hope it arrives on Australia's shores sooner rather then later. And with our new CEO after Sol stepped down earlier then suspected I have hopes that the new CEO will bring a more competitive plans to the Telstra market. But one can only hope.

=]

I am getting a Pre.

This date and price are repeated on Palm's website.

Why don't they say the price without a contract?

It's also on Sprint's home page also.

finally! $100 cheaper than I thought!

WooOoooHOoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's on sprints web page, the release date.

Everyone, it's on Sprints home page.

any news of launching Pre in India

Sachin

The Touchstone ==dock== needs the Pre charger to do its thing. That is, for each extra Touchstone dock you buy you either buy a Pre charger or you carry your Pre charger around and plug each extra Touchstone dock into it when you want to uuse the dock.

See Palm's touchstone dock page.

you don't have to buy the pre charger. if you want extra chargers, you can pick up those mini-usb chargers for about $9.99. :)

Ok, now Palm give us release date and price for Europe!
PAAAALM!!!!!

Europe ... Europe ... Europe ... WHEN???

gimme gimme date! PAAALLLMMMM!

Now to start figuring out the best way to get it.....what store will have most stock...will I be able to get it from Account Services....I need this on June 6th

pre-order available?

I think I'm going to call a Sprint store and offer them a bribe to gimme one. Maybe "I buy you 1, you sell me 1 on day 1, kapiche?"

what i'm wondering is how much it would cost without a contract. either that or, being 6 months into a 2 year contract myself, would i be able to upgrade and not pay a fortune?

I'm with you on that same question (i'm also 6 months into a 2 year contract)...

Currently the Pre release is top news item in the Sci/Tech section of Google News (US).

Sachin: Ive not yet come across any news of Pre being launched in India, and Precentral member, greenhex, who pays even more attention to these things than me, has not mentioned anything yet. But what's worrying is the recently announced pricing of Indian 3G plans, which may make owning a Pre prohibitive (well at least for some of us!)

where should i go???? Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, or Sprint... I have $125 gift card to sprint but then i won't get the rebate instantly.... and what if there is a snafoo with the rebate... I'll camp out for a week....

dd

Get the phone at bestbuy...they have instant rebates...then use your sprint giftcard for the touchstone charger!!

Is anything said about the "one more big thing" deal? Just wondering what that might be.

YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! Officially only 18 days to go!

They've already listed the plans that qualify, and SERO is not one of them. There's nothing more to say.

you gotta have a simply everything plan or a data plan, call customer service and ask if you have a upgrade credit around may 28th, you may qualify for a $150 upgrade credit and instant credits and mail in rebates

I have a $150 upgrade credit on my account and a $25 gift card. Might be worth trying to get one. We'll see what they say about SERO customers.

They've already listed the plans that qualify, and SERO is not one of them. There's nothing more to say.

(replied to the wrong person the first time)

The eagle has landed!

more like, "We know when the eagle will launch and how much the mission will cost."

If you go to the Sprint website and click the Pre banner, to the right all the options say Precentral. They like us,they really really like us(i know it has nothing to do with this site)... but they like us!!!!

$100 Mail-in Rebate = 6 - 9% unnecessary sales tax musbt be paid on the rebate amount not to mention more out-of-pocket expense. Thanks Sprint!

Should be charging us 20 bucks for the Pre. THAAANKS a ton PAAALM! What a rip!

$199 FTW

(and yes, I know that's the rebate price, but I actually mail mine in)

sleepy

It does have something to do this site. It links to here.

Did anyone get a notification from palm/sprint?

I have yet to receive a notice from either.

I signed up to get an email when it's available, not get notified when it will be announced to be available.

My husband received email, but I did not. Go figure!!

WOW! It's finally about to be here. Thank you Sprint/Palm. Personally I cannot wait but of course will have to. WAAHOOOW. Some technology is just truly worth the wait.

If you want the phone for $200 BUY IT AT BEST BUY.
Best Buy does not screw their customers with that old mail-in rebate scam.
Buy it there and it will be $200, buy it anywhere else and pay $300 and hope they send you $100 back...
It's a no-brainer

It's posted right at the very top of Sprint's website. http://www.sprint.com

Interesting how the vanity URL sprint.com/pre doesn't show the release date. Oh well. I'm sure they'll get to it. The important thing is that we already know. :-)

Well I'm very excited about the new phone. I've been waiting a long time. Now for my disappointment...Whatever happened to being a part of the Preimer customer. I thought we would be getting something first. There was nothing in my email about the release or from Sprint or Palm for that matter. I signed up to be notified but NOTHING! I beginning to wonder about these two.

Yeah, I agree. What about all of us who signed up to be "the first to know about the release". I didn't get an email, did anyone else? What a crock! Oh well, we know now.

I was always told by Sprint that Premier customers will be the first to know "once the device is released", so June 6 we should get that email. :(

With the Instinct Premier customers had the option to pick it up a day SOONER than everyone else. Hopefully that will be the case here...

Sprint's Premier Customers may not have been the first to know about the launch date of the Palm Pre, but they can be among the first to own one.

Calls have been pouring in about the Palm Pre, and a lot of people want to know if there is a waiting list for the Pre. I'm sorry to tell you there isn't a waiting list per se if you were to order it online. But having been with Sprint for a while, more often than not, right before a big launch on a new phone, we [@ Sprint's Sales/Upgrades] have the phone available on our computers to go ahead and sell or take orders exclusively for our "Premier Customers"-- those who have been loyal Sprint customers for a while.

Just one of many examples is the launch of the LG Rumor. People had been calling in advance asking for availability or waiting lists, etc, wanting to get their hands on the device first. It has become routine for us to take customer's names and phone numbers down to make waiting lists of our own. We ARE allowed, once the new phone is made available to us on our servers, to take orders and sell it. The great thing is, like so many other times, the new phone shows up up to a week before the actual launch date!

So with my example of the LG Rumor, it was about six days before the actual launch date that the phone was made available on our servers, thusly, allowing me to personally call those on my waiting list to tell them the good news, and to offer an order for them if they still wanted the phone.

The launch of the Palm Pre is huge, but in no way will we treat our loyal customers any differently than before. If you are one of Sprint's Premier Customers, it's definitely worth a shot to give us a call at 866-866-7509. Speak to any representative in Sales/Upgrades and ask about getting your name/number on a list. You should expect a call as early as May 31, to as late as the actual launch date, June 6. And we WILL call. I understand that a call on June 6 may not seem like something to jump for joy about, but please understand that shortages in supply are expected to happen. You can be up at your nearest Sprint Store/Best Buy at the crack of dawn waiting in line, or you can go about the rest of your day like normal and receive a call from a Sprint Rep basically offering you the phone sans long lines. I believe it is safe to assume that my calling list is not the only one this long, so please give us a call as soon as you can or wish to. Please know that the closer you are to the beginning of the list, the better your chances are of placing your order before others do.

We at Sprint have always tried our best to show our most loyal customers that they are absolutely valuable to us. Once again, the number to call is 866-866-7509. Please have your account information/pin number ready so we can verify that you are one of our Premier Customers.

Good luck!

-Jessica, Sprint Sales and Upgrades

So, now can we start the frantic rumor-mongering about the release date for the unlocked GSM version :)

Remember people, I know you are excited, but this phone has NOT been reviewed. Buyer beware.

Get lost iPhone fan-boy!! The phone has been reviewed! Buyer be-ready!

Reviewed by whom? There have been no hands-on reviews.

Hands-on Review from more than a week ago: http://www.prethinking.com/home/2009/5/11/hands-on-review-with-the-palm-...

Now shove it, "Anonymous" iPhone fanboy!

Another comment from "Anonymous"

Palm doesn't release compromised products like the stillborne 2G iPhone 1.0. A Ferrari with no engine.

ALL IS WELL, REMAIN CALM!!!!!
Dont panic Anon, what's to review? The phone is three weeks from release, there is nothing to get burned on. Unless you still have 20 months to go on your iPhone contract and ATT/Apple wont offer concessions, but then you were burned four months ago. Give Mr. Jobs a kiss for us.

That's a joke. Some amatuer who claims to have spent an hour with the phone. Please. That's not a professional review if this guy is even telling the truth.

i checked out the phone, its all its suppose to be and more. The phone is amazing,

$199AR is the cost with a "new" 2-year agreement. What's the price if you're a long-time Sprint customer?

same price - as long as you are eligible - they'll do the same $199 with rebate. I just contaced e-chat and they confirmed that even though I'm already a customer, I'll still pay the same as a new customer

BUT, you should be able to use your $150 credit if it is available to you.

Can I use my $150 credit if I buy at best buy to avoid the rebate hassle?

you can use the $150.00 upgrade credit anywhere, call customer service you can also get overnight delivery, upgrade on sprint.com and get it also

No email from Sprint yet.

Anyone else notice that buying the the touchstond and door separately is less (.01) than buying them together? Granted difference is not much but...

Great contribution buddy.

That is good..so you can buy another touchstone without needing another back.

I hope there is a way to mount it in my car!

I want a car with the touchstone built under the dash. I can just magnetically set my Pre there, and people would be shocked the first time they saw me just stick a normal phone on the regular dash surface. DEALMAKER!

I was thrilled to see ala carte. Not many companies are that consumer driven that they're willing to step off of a natural bundle and let you buy pieces without paying a premium. Good on them, that sold me on the touchstone upgrade.

Mail-in Rebate! Shame on you Sprint and Palm. I am still going to get one, as long as I can get one before my 30 day trial with AT&T is up. I think the pricing is too high and the fact that they make you complete a rebate form and wait for the check in this economy is just absurd. They need to come in with a price of 179.99 to really make a statement, but they failed to do so. I am excited, but at the same time disappointed.

You are a moron. Get lost iPhone fanboy!

What about the stupid iPhone and how it was initially realeased at over $500!

"You are a moron..."

"...stupid iPhone"

Guess that's the intelligence and maturity level of Palm customers. Sure your hairy ape fingers will be able to use the touch screen?

They made a statement, a more capable phone than anything else on the market, for only $200. They need to make some money and not run the phone as a loss leader. If $20 is that big of a difference, there are lesser phones to fill in the void. There are plenty of tech savvy buyers with money to burn.

I am not talking about myself here. I am excited and will be in line to get one. I hate the iPhone. I just think that the "fat middle" looks at the cost of the device and not the cost of the service (AT&T is about $15 more a month). I am just worried that the mail in rebate is terrible idea and think they needed to come in lower than the iPhone to get the average person to switch. Tech savvy people understand this phone should be the most impressive device on the market, but the average person, which is what Sprint and Palm want will not understand this.

We're talking Day One.

The fat middle comes in a couple months. $199 is your premium for being first in line. Expect this do drop very quickly to $99-$1.49.

First in line for iPhone was $500-600, and that was a POS!

this phone is the top of the line. The worlds first 4G top of the line. no other provider has anything that compares

lol, have seen the pre. with the pre who needs a lap top? this phone is amazing,

I know I hate mail in rebate too! I don't want to pay full $299 now and wait a month later to get $100 back. I really hope best buy do instant rebate for this phone. That way I can get the wireless charger at the same time so I don't have to wait a month later for my rebate to get it.

Sadly sprint asks 10 to 12 weeks for rebates to arrive.

Well, at last!!! Now, Palm and Sprint NEEDS to have enough in stock to satisfy all of the customers that have been patiently waiting on the Pre since January.

Stock is extremely limited. Get there early.

This is why it took so long to release the pre, stock will be plenty. call customer service on june 6th no hassles waiting thats what im going to do

So palm screws up again, there is nothing in the WSJ. Off to a great start for the Pre.

Right, the same press release that sprint themselves released before the wsj. palm screws the wsj, i'm sure they can expect a favorable review from mossberg now.

And about the fanboy comment, not everyone critical of palms constant screw-ups, is a fansboy of the iphone, I personally only own treos, and have never used and iphone. But as experience with my treos have shown, palm always falls slightly short, and the way they are heading, I wouldn't be surprised if the pre ends up the same.

It's sad that the iphone is being used as a yardstick for the pre, the iphone itself is a failure as a PHONE, I and most normal people want a phone/email first, and a PDA/gamboy/ipod second.

I think he was referring to the report that Walt Mossberg from the WSJ was going to be writing a review in todays paper. Similiar to what he did for the Iphone. There are no articles in the print version of the WSJ today on either Sprint or Palm.

He's still exploring pre's vast capabilities. And typing his review on his iPhones virtual keyboard takes forever because it's not often he gets to use the "!"

^^^^^^ your an idiot. there was something in the WSJ your just to stupid to operate a computer. or a basic google search would have been easy to find this. looks like your the only one that FAILED!

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124273162439334195.html

see above your moron

FAILED FAILED FAILED FAILED.

Now go have your mommy change your diaper, and apply your zit meds.

Thats why I dont by Pinapple products. They #&%"$*# up people brains and transform them into basic a 6ys old child... Sad sittuation...
You better stick with your iBone, its better for your age.

I would like to apologize to anyone who is offended by the above comments. I empathize with you.

OK, now when will someone get a production unit and post an unboxing video? PAAAALM!

when can employees order it will they hav 2 wh8 n get it in december like the instink or june 5 also

THIS MEANS NOTHING TO PEOPLE WHO AREN'T UPGRADING ( A LOT)

How much is retail price.

My wife just washed my centro over the weekend, and you knwo what? I wasn't upset. "Guess that means i gotta get a Pre!" I do not mind being without a phone until June 6th.

Next time be sure she don't do it again with Pr

I'd rather lose my foot for 2.5 weeks than my Treo 700wx.

I think the next real big question to ask is how fast will the page views start to drop at Precentral.net once the Pre is released??? Don't worry precentral I will still be a loyal contributor!!!

Side note anyone else notice its a penny cheaper to buy the battery cover and touchstone dock seperately??? I'll wait about six months until they go on clearance or all over Ebay for $29.99 then pick one up!

No ads no TV commercials no nothing? Why?

Why do iPhone fanboys come on this site to make stupid negative comments like this?

There have been ads, mailers and the like. I have gotten a very snazzy Palm Pre marketing mailer from Sprint last week! Also, how can you expect to have seen a tv commercial already if they just announced the release date today?!

I explain you why in a,b,c matter for you.

Thats because good things they dont need too much Tv Commercials. The most TV commercials you do the worst product you get. Bad products need more $ investiment to sell. See the iPhone as exemple :P

Sprint and Palm has said they are starting a huge marketing blitz starting today! Expect to see the first Pre commercial by tomorrow!

Thanks Daniel.

I'm not AAPL fanboy - waiting for the Pre like everyone else. Was just expecting some big boom marketing starting today and there's nothing at all.

You were wrong (again), and it begs the question, what would Palm have used to pay for its marketing? It hasn't any money.
