Palm’s European sites light up with more Pre info 11

You may remember that soothing morning coffee video from way back when we were still waiting for the Pre to launch over here in North America. In preparation for the impending invasion of Europe, Palm has redone that video in Spanish (as seen above), German, and The Queen’s English for Ireland and the United Kingdom. While it doesn’t quite cover the gamut of O2/Telefonica’s European coverage area, it is one more sign that the European (and thus GSM) launch of the Pre is indeed on the way, even if we don’t get to take any pictures.

Oh, and don’t bother translating the videos - they all say the exact same thing (funny how everybody has business in California these days).

Well I have so many questions. Wasn't it just yesterday that Palm is far from ready from a launch in UK/ Europe? Will the GSM Pre arrive in Asia as soon as Europe? or we Asians have to wait for another year or two?

You know, I'd pay *real* money for my Pre's calendar to be as responsive in real life as it is in those videos.

The video was already translated and available on the German page for already 2 months now.

Unfortunately Palm had used obviously a really poor interpreter for their video (especially the screen shots) - because they translated in the calendar view "3 hrs free" with "3 hrs for free" into German :-)

I sent a note to Palm and they changed this now in the current version of the video.

But to be honest: We would prefer not to get a newsletter about this video but about the release date. C'mon Palm hurry up! The market will not wait for you! HTC Hero is here, Nokia N97 too - where is the PRE?

I did also notify them about that creative localisation, about a month ago. Did you get any feedback?

I noticed the calendar demo (which yes, is much snappier than anything close to what my pre can do), includes the day's weather. Is this an option in WebOS 1.1? I can't find the option under the calendar or Accuweather, the two places I'd expect to find it. It'd be nice to have, so if anyone knows how to enable, please let me know.

I have the weather on my palm. You have to enable it on your google calendar, and then WebOS via synergy will display it.

1) login to google calendar
2) click on "settings" in the upper right corner
3) Set your location in the "Location" option.
4) Choose C or F in the "Show weather based on my location" option.

Buau! The restaurant in the web is from here! from Barcelona! This video makes us feel very close to the Pre! Perhaps the release date will be soon ...
