Palm to Give Touchstone Charging Docks Away to Hot Apps Users 32

by Robert Werlinger Sun, 23 May 2010 1:10 pm EDT

Palm Hot Apps website

Palm has announced on it's official blog that they're looking to reward not only the developers of the Hot Apps, but the folks that are using them as well.  After you've browsed and downloaded a few of the hot apps seen on the leader board found at palmhotapps.com, Palm wants users to help spread the word by tweeting: "I'm tweeting about Palm's cool Hot Apps (http//tinyurl.com/2amjk70) for a chance to win one of 10 Touchstones #fastmovers"  by May 31, 2010 to automatically be entered for a chance to win one of those award winning charging docks.

Awesome

That's cool, but I neither have nor want a twitter acct.

Get one and if you win you can give me the touchstone - :P

A-blipping-men. Twitter is for twits...

Hmm, Radio Shack has a fire sale on Touchstones, AT&T is giving away touchstones with the Pre Plus, and now Palm is giving away more touchstones.

I hope Palm isn't burning through inventory because they are introducing an incompatible Touchstone for the next Palm hardware.

I think it might just be marketing to get the Palm name out there more.

Best Buy also has the kits on clearance for $20 so something is up.

nice gesture but lets get some meat and potatoes in the phone. The HTC EVO can use data and the phone at the same time on the Sprint network. Lets catch up HPalm. HMDI output also. I want to know if it will be here soon, if not I may have to jump ship. (I don't want to but will if I have to)

"The HTC EVO can use data and the phone at the same time on the Sprint network. Lets catch up HPalm"
It's only able to do that if you're in a 4G data coverage area. For 95% of Sprint customers, that's not useful. You have a better chance of finding a WiFi hotspot to do the same thing.

No, you don't HAVE to jump ship, you just choose to because you're all about the latest trends instead of just sticking with what works.

Go ahead and get the Evo and enjoy your clunky bloated android phone. I'm sticking with my smooth webOS. I have the patience to wait a few months to get what's coming next from Palm, especially now that they have the backing of HP.

REALLY misleading title here, guys lol. They're not giving away Touchstones to users, they're holding a contest for a chance to win one of only ten Touchstones.

That's such a cheap contest award with such low probability of winning that I'm not even going to be insulted with entering :-P

Thanks for staying out of the contest. You've just increased the odds of winning for everyone else.

I agree with theweaselslayer, they SHOULD be giving us all one just for putting up with their crap phone for so long.

I think I'd rather reward myself by not signing up for a Twitter account. Ahh, I feel rewarded already!

@Jahooba

+1 Lol.

(+100 for no...
"@nolife - I'm drinking a milkshake"
"@getalife - That's cool. I like milkshakes")

Uh yeeaaah, I'll pass. Thanks though. :/

Wait...they are actually holding a contest to give away a total of 10 Touchstones worth between $0 and $#25 each?

wow. I guess you can look a gift horse in the mouth. They're giving it away & people can still complain. Also, a title is an abbreviated version of the story. So by its nature it will be somewhat misleading until you read the details. Unless, of course, you have a really long title or no title at all. :P

I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Single state lotteries generally have odds of winning around 18 million to 1. Since this contest has 10 equal winners there would need to be over 180 million people entering for it to be worse than the lottery.

Maybe Palm is pushing the touchstone so hard these days is to compete with this before it improves enough to actually be usable. http://bit.ly/ahUJ7h

I must confess I took as honest some comments from untidy people earlier, but having seen the pattern it seems their role in here is just to be negative no matter what.

About the touchstone, this thing is probably just a way to also promote one of the things palm pre was different from other phones. Some people would love to have several touchstones at home, not because of batery life or wharever, but just to have a way to leave the device while in the kitchen for example.

Either way it might mean something new is coming in some months, like a new family of touchstone products.

Nope. Not until they tell me what is happening with Sprint. I already have a touchstone, would love another, but only giving 10 away? Come on, laying out a cool $200 (based on the price at Radio Shack) is not my idea of a very bright marketing campaign...

I would love another Touchstone. However, I also don't want a Twitter account. So I'll just save $30. Interesting idea, though.

OH OH! Can I get ANOTHER TS that doesn't work too please! Junk.

this site just gets more negitive all the time. there giving something away for free and some people cry about it like it's an insult to offer a prize so small to them.

I really hope alot of them actually do leave for an evo and never come back

The URL is missing a colon after "http."

all you whiners complainers,
I wish you would get another phone and get out of here. No body wants to hear your pity complaints anymore than you want to hear ours. So grow some man balls and get over it and suck it up. Damn.

80/20 Rule applys here..20% are complainers.. The 80% of us just ignore with a bit of pity for such UnHappy PRE users, if in fact the have a Palm Product....

have 4 TS ( and they all work flawlessly, including the one nicely mounted in my ride) but I never turn away from a chance to win a free anything! Got my tweet in. Sounds like some members of crackberry have migrated over.

Nah, I'd rather pay for my touchstones, of which I have more than enough already.

I just wish that Seidio would make a TS compatible back for their extended life battery.

wow..that's awesome!
