Palm hires Senior Director - Product Management 30
With all the high-level people who have been leaving Palm since the HP buyout, it's nice to see that quality folks are still on board. Enter Daniel Ljunggren, who is filling the position of Senior Director - Product Management that opened up last January and who will be responsible for "[driving] the definition and execution of [Palm's] next generation smartphones"
Ljunggren comes to Palm with more than 12 years of experience by way of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, where he was the Head of Product Management and also served as the Head of Portfolio Launch Execution. This experience should serve him well in the upcoming product launches we're increasing beginning to believe in.

Good news I hope!
Nice pool-side pic ;)
I laughed at your comment.
I do think this is a good thing for Palm though. It means there are plans to bring new WebOS devices in the near future. I know I konw, the ex-CEO of HP said they plan on making a bunch of WebOS devices but actions speak louder than words.
I think we're starting to see what the 3rd gen Palm phone will look like.
Just don't give us garbage like the Xperia Pureness then I'm fine.
SE used to have great phones... S710a being one of them.
Sony Ericsson? Can things get any worse!?
you are a moran !
Moron?
not first language sorry...
teach me for being rude !
Classic!
Does this mean the Sony/droid users should get out on the window ledge? Sony didn't even get acquired and doesn't have a new bank of resources to draw from!
Welcome aboard Daniel.
"increasingLY beginning to believe in"? I love you, Deiter :D
But really, good to see some people finally coming IN. And experienced ones, at that.
"Must find a picture where I don't look nerdy.... thinker picture by the computer? Nah... intellectual shot while soldering on my motherboard? Too uh... nerdy. Ah, poser pic by the pool....
I dunno.. That life jacket might trump them all.
So, what I don't understand about this is with all the people leaving Palm everyone said "Well, it is because HP has tons of talented people already on-board to fill these spots". Yet yesterday we saw a job posting mentioned and now an "outsider" brought in.
It is starting to seem to me that the people left Palm because they did not like the direction that HP would be taking it and not because their jobs were "duplicated" by people that HP already had. :-(
it could also be that HP did not like the direction in which those people took Palm.
just sayin'.
Don't recall seeing anything earth-shatteringly new from Sony Ericsson Mobile in the last 10 years. Glad he's in charge though....
What about Xperia phones? They are selling quite well here in Spain...
maybe it's just me, but that guy looks like a D-bag. Not sayin he is. I think anyone from sony is a bad idea.
Quick question: of all people why GEORGE COSTANZA????!!!! I mean you've seen the episodes haven't you?!
Dis Bad....beddy beddy BAD!!

Based on the information in this post, I predict the next new Palm will be water-resistant.
With a Comb-over...
Anybody know how to pronounce his last name?
lungrin lun like fun,run.
Same as Dolph "Lundgren" I would imagine
"Ljung" = same as "Jung" the psychologist
"gren" = same sound as you would say gren in english but with a longer "e" sound (not green, which is another "e" sound)
means somthing like Heath (as in the low shrub) branch :)
Hopefully he can bring in some GSM competence into Palm. Coming from the company who owns half the market on GSM/UMTS equipment maybe webOS can finally figure out things like delivery reports, sending and receiving contacts and correct internet, sms and mms settings out of the box.. :)
As a long time SE user pre seeing the Palm light I have to say this can't be bad. A healthy European /global perspective is exactly what Palm needs(needed). The ignorant American mindset must be washed out and Palm must think much bigger on a global spectrum. SE has a lot of global stretch....I'm not talking device quality more of a company mind set. So any of that good stuff will be good :)
New devices eh.... They got already and waiting for the right time to launch... We are on a good wicket here.
The thing to remember her is it's not Palm as we knew and loved anymore.... It's bigger, more professional and more serious...there is BIG money being invested at HP and some people have got a very serious agenda ! Gonna be awesome !
has Sony-Ericsson been any more successful across the world than they have been in the US? I hope so, cuz in the US they have struggled...
I just hope this guy knows how to launch a product, and that he is someone liked around VZW and AT&T.
Go Palm Go!
Lets just say selling a few million devices per model isn't such a rare occurrence in SE land ... Have we sold a 1 mil yet ? Sadly no :(
What about Xperia phones? They are selling quite well here in Spain...
