Palm hits Times Square 52

Joseph hit us up yesterday to let us know he ran into a Palm promotion team in Times Square in New York City. Being a good PreCentral nation citizen, he naturally approached the Palm T-Shirt-clad group and showed them his Palm Pre Plus. The team responded by reaching into their goody bag, handing him a Palm Leather Side Case, and shooting a quick video about how he loves him some webOS.

Joseph reports seeing around 30 people in the Palm team and a half-dozen Smart cars emblazoned with the Palm logo. Apparently the squad has eight more cities to go, so keep an eye out, because it's clear Palm is ramping up their program to hunt you down and give you free stuff.

He also scored a 'Life moves fast. Don't miss a thing.' T-Shirt, pictured after the break.

Update: Palm hits Philly tomorrow.

NEW HARDWARE! Just talked to a contact in China named Ben Waballs who says that the Palm production facility is getting ready to produce not 1 but 2 new handsets for a possible late Q4 release. They will be called the Pre 2Late and the Palm Irrelevant....

Some of those cities listed above might be a little far fetched. Exposure is important in this half ass shim dig of a promotion stunt they are trying to do.

I would be thinking more along the lines of.....

Miami. Yeah. (ok, it was bias cuz I live near there....)

Then, after I get me a Palm shirt, i'll get Dieter's signature (cuz we know he'll be there) on the shirt.

How do you like that side case holster? I checked one out at radio shack when they were on sale, thought it was terrible... the phone was tough to get in, nearly impossible to get out even with that fiddly pull-tab thing. Even for free I wouldn't want that thing. I spent weeks trying different cases and finally settled on, of all things, a blackberry 8300 case. The phone fits perfectly, slides out easily (sits tall enough to grab the sides easily), and it has a very tough looking and feeling swivel clip. It was only $17 at Fry's (vs $30 at 'the shack'). The only flaw is the metal "Blackberry" plate on the closure... but I'm already scheming to replace it with some sort of Palm logo if I can make it look nice. Otherwise I'll just pop it off and go logo-less.

Its Fleet Week in NYC, so there is lots of extra publicity/cameras/crowds.

Also, some of the buses here in NYC still have the Palm ads on them. Saw one this week.
