Palm may find you, randomly give you accessories 33

As Annie notes over at sister-site TreoCentral, Palm has let loose that they're going to be roving the country, handing out Pre and Pixi accessories, Palm stickers, and who knows what to people they see using webOS devices out in public spaces. In other words - be a little flamboyant when you use your phone, it just might get you noticed and get you swag.
Palm says that these roving bands of accessory-gifters could appear in any country. We suppose these 'random acts of wow' could be pretty sparse, given the wide net. If only Palm had a way of tracking down webOS users in the wild to help improve those odds (We KID! We joke!).

Dieter- are you at Dev Camp? If so do you post to Precentral direct from your Pre, or laptop or some other phone?

I hope they come to Sacramento, California and hand out Palm stickers. I can sure use one to wrap around the back and sides of my phone and hold the "Oreo Effect" in check.

Seriously though, If Palm really wants to save themselves, they need to give bags out to people that DON'T have a Palm device. Here's a different approach: give people a free phone and bag of goodies IF they find one other person who'll go buy one within 30 days.
So Palm is going to pay someone to go around and do this. Wow. Didn't know they had that type of money.

This sounds way too over ambitious for me to act any differently... (I'm in Nashville, TN!)
I'm gonna use the sticker to hold my Pre together.

I have now moved from scorning Palm to being embarrassed for them. I can't even count the ways that this is a bad idea... but let's give it a try just for fun. :)
1. The Youtube videos of people making fools of themselves to get a sticker. The word, "Pre-tard" will go into the dictionary after this.
2. They will travel all over the world spending precious cash. Remind me again what their cash reserves are?
3. They overestimate the supply of accessories they need and end up with shelves of extra accessories to go with the shelves of extra phones.
4. They try to make an ad campaign around this that ends up even worse than Borg Queen.
5. They can't find enough WebOS phones in the wild to make it worthwhile.
Please, Palm, sober up before you actually go through with this. :)

I live in Chicago IL, I ride the Redline train on a daily basis, rush hour, back and forth. I have seen only two people with a Palm Pre in their hands. That's really strange.
I wonder what others have seen here? How many Palm Pre's have you seen out in public?
So Palm: You will definitely see me on the Redline around 7am, multitasking like you would not believe. I listen to music, surf the net, text, check out a map, play poker, surf the net again, check email, calender, and look for a restaurant for the night, and of course check my bank account all within a 45m to an hour travel time. I get looks all the time as I surf, I don't hide it. I'm on the 800mghz kernel. It's nice and speedy. I'm getting more satisfied with it. The phone kinda grows on you after trying to really utilize it to its fullest extent. Though I'm sure there is more to know. I tell people you basically have a mini-computer in your pocket that can do alot at once.
So yeah, I'm getting more satisfied with the Pre. I'm sticking with Palm, plus I'm a sucker for the underdog, aren't you?
what they need to do is give the accessories to pre owners and WE can give them away. Heck, give is the extra phone inventory and we can give those away to people we demo it to.
How about forget this idea and use the resources for R&D on new hardware! SMH

I work in the Chicago Loop, and live in Chicago Northwest Suburbs. Come on out to Chicago and have some of the best pizza, and beef sandwiches around!!! I will put some stickers on my truck and on my kids foreheads :-)
I agree with Political Season. Seems it would make more sense to find people who aren't using a Pre and introduce them to the WebOS by giving them a phone. They could turn that into a commercial.
i suspect i am currently the only pre user in hong kong . I might be difficult to find out here though!
I vote that best idea for stickers is to put them on kids foreheads.....
