Attention mobile game developers: Today, and today only (well, until another event is scheduled), Palm will be rubbing elbows with your types and showing off the capabilities of webOS at the Gaming & Mobile Entrepreneurship (GAME) meet-up/mixer/party. Why Palm and why GAME? Well, it is in their San Francisco backyard, which also happens to be the epicenter of game development in the United States.
Interested? You know you are. Palm’s got the details on the developer website. And don't forget: Palm will also be presenting at next month's Game Developers Conference.

IF only I weren't snowed in in TEXAS
agree
Nothing says "serious business smartphone" like a handheld gaming machine.
Don't get me wrong, I like games. I just thought Palm had a high priority goal of establishing itself as a serious smartphone. There are still several items within that goal that are woefully short.
Who knows? Maybe the gamers are a larger audience that will spend more money.
Palm didn't say they were establishing themselves as the serious business phone. Palm has often said they are going after the middle of the market. These include people that like to play games. Sometimes, even the serious business person needs to decompress while waiting for a flight at the airport.
sweet more games the better. im so happy that the games keep coming. im really surprised how well the games run and control on the pre. i dont need my psp or dsi on road trips anymore there is enough good games on my phone now.i bought the pre for flash and games who cares about the business crap i want to be entertained.
Palm is very smart...business wise! You see, it is struggling to sell the Pre & Pixi devices because there are 214536986 Android types...and then the iPhone. What Palm realizes is that to gain more sales and exposure to it's webOS (so it can do bigger and better things) it needs to capture a thriving group who would spend the moneys for the cutting edge experience...no group is more die-hard about their hobby & passion than the GAMER!!! If we (Palm) can take a good chunk of this group and make them webOS believers...that will make them buy more webOS phones. And if you've never been around hardcore gamers - they tend to spread news at a rapid succession which will bring more curiosity and eventually more backing for Palm. They'll make it back to the top...everyone will see =)
I've got to agree with you... While businessmen spread the good news to their friends by text or by mouth, those messages do not reach the middle class men who also have the capability of buying a pre/pre plus. I've been a hardcore player before, and I tell you, Gamers, specially HARDCORE GAMERS passes out information faster than the speed of light. hehehe. One time we got this magnificent item in game, and in just 30 secs everybody in the server knew about it and after 3-5 minutes someone was already able to create a blog about it... That fast!... If palm could please these guys, I tell you, the pre or any higher webOS devices that may come out later will be selling like hot cakes. These Gamers will travel to distant lands to satisfy their needs for the best game, best platform to play it with. And I really mean that and not in a very Geeky kind of way...
Totally agree. iPhone would have never made it if it weren't for the games it started out with. Remember the commercials. Now I know many professionals that get the iphone instead of the blackberry. Why? Because games sell phones. Once you have the phones out there, developers will write whatever.
hardcore gamers are not the wave of the future. Look @ Wii.
Palm needs to get the casual family gaming into the mix
Graphics don't sell as well as replay value.
"Graphics don't sell as well as replay value." EXACTLY!
...ummm I don't believe that statement. Hardcore gamers are the one's spending top money for the cutting edge technology to satisfy their fix. Just look @ the sales of PS2 at launch...and the shortages. Think about games like Need for Speed or the Metal Gear Solid series w/ it's record sales. When you translate these over to mobile...it's basically who has the best OS/hardware to handle games and apps. I love the wii & all those family oriented games BUT when it comes to the masses - that won't sell webOS devices...not smartphones at least. If you want casual family games just get VisualBoyAdvance or NesEm as they cater to all fans of "yester-years."
Palm as far as i know is doing all it can to get back in track. And i am sure they know what they are doing. remember we are talking about one capability of the phone that no one knew until less than a month ago. So just try to let the world know thats it.
Go PALM
P.S plz fire the PR people, even interns would do a better job than them
By saying PR people, did you mean Tech support (phone support people) or those that are working in shops?
Pretty sure he meant marketting, a lot of folks confuse Marketting and Public Relations.
