Palm Pixi Now Free Through Sprint's Website 48
It was only a matter of time before the WiFi-less, Sprint bound Pixi dropped to "free with a 2-year contract" pricing on the America's 3rd largest network, and you can now hit Sprint's online portal to get the diminutive smartphone for the sweet sweet price of zero dollars with a new contract. As is generally the case with Sprint, brick and mortar corporate stores can't match the web pricing on these kinds of deals, so if you want your free Pixi through Sprint proper you'll have to wait a few days after ordering, or wait until in-store pricing inevitably follows suit.

this is cool! I can get my parents onto a family share plan with this phone! I wonder if there are limits for purchasing :(
I just ordered a Pixi for my wife. 3 Pres in the family already - me and my two college age children. HS teen still on a very old school phone... she may be next...
HEY MAYBE SPRINT IS TRYING TO GET RIDE TO THE PALM PIXI BECAUSE PALM HAS A NEW PHONE UP THEIR SLEEVE HINT HINT (PALM C40) OR PALM PRE 4G
You maybe right, but why no leaks? We have heard nothing from Palm about new hardware. Heck even the iPhone 4 was leaked, and you know how much Apple hates leaks (unless this was a intentional leak?).
Does everything have to have leaks?
Remember the Pre itself didn't have leaks until it was announced at CES. Only the Pixi got marginal.
As for whether the iPhone's leak was intentional... All I'm going to say is Apple's marketing is excellent. Ironic as it goes, Apple's marketing is all about brainwashing. Remember 1984?
whether double talk or not it works and palm is no brainer on this apple is making tons of money and palm is palmlessly out of money i hate apple but you have to give kudos to them
Palm is a much smaller company, which makes controlling leaks much easier. Though the mythical C40 could arguably be the leak you've been looking for.
Palm also has a launch on ATT that they certainly don't want to bollocks up with any leaks of another device on another network. A lot of leaks are intentional and this isn't the time to leak info on a new device.
Or maybe because the sprint pixi is useless? Who wants a smartphone without wireless - at least in my opinion lol. I use the wifi on my Pre all the time, it makes browsing multiple pages, facebook and msn all at once a delight
MSN?
heh-heh...he said MSN.
+1
I do. I do all the things you described in my pixi, without wireless, 3G works great for me.
oh, and I like the pixi's form factor too.
I have the Pre and never use wifi. 3G is fast!
thats sounds good there tryijng to clear there inventory of pres and pixi nice sounds lik new phone a month and a half and we'll here something. but on another note hve guys seen that pre knock off on engadget.com the spec are crazy for a smart phone 24cores now if only palm can match that
Smallest of the big 3 domestic carriers. Not smallest of big 4. Sprint is bigger than T-mo
And Alltel, and Ntelos, and several others also.
I sent in a correction on the "tip us" link, since I see no other way of reporting a serious error in an article (other than these comments)
Seems to have worked- the article is corrected! Yay!
i believe verizon owns alltel

@hansley, the new dells? I think they look cool, I'm really interested
I think it's still early to say if there's a new phone around the corner. That C40 has been sitting around for a few months now. I have a feeling it's going to be the pluses. Lol I could be wrong, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
I know I heard of the mini 5 but out of the blue they drop a bunch of new phone that are actually nice I mean even tho I'm a hp man I think dells really steppin out with these new phones
did he just say smallest of the domestic 4?? is t-mobile really bigger than sprint? ahem, NO.
ahh it took em long enough to put the pixi up for free..
i agree with the comment that said sprint is most likely trying to rid the pixi for the upcoming c40
C40? Nope. Realistically speaking, they are probably just trying to get rid of extra inventory before the Pixi Plus arrives. If the rumors about the C40 are true, then the Pixi won't even be in the same target demographic as what's supposed to be the long-awaited third tier webOS device.
ahh well atleast we at sprint are finally getting SOMETHING gosh. ive had a pixi for 5 months now. its great. but i wish theyd've let me upgrade to a plus sooner :/
The pixi should have been free a long time ago LOL
isn't t-mobile smaller than sprint?
Is giving away for free is good or bad for palm?..
I dont see how this is good. I am sure they would prefer to get some up front cash for their devices.
We don't know how their contracts work (at least I don't, and I am guessing you don't either). For all we know, Sprint has to pay for the devices they stock, up front. In which case it is Sprint that is taking the hit, not Palm.
Either way it is probably not a great sign.
Yeah, I don't see free Palm devices as a positive thing. It suggests to me that they can barely give the things away. So sad, given that this is such a fine platform...
I wish the pixi's screen wasn't all squished, and it had similar specs of the Pre, then i'd be all over it! CANDYBAR STYLE!!!

palm's ad at at&t
looks a little too...plastered and staged to be a real ad >.>
and its NOT on at&t yet
Best ad as of yet! Too bad sprint doesn't seem to have ads like that.

Ordered one for one of my parents today!!!
ATT Ad is a catchy little ad...
tomorrow online sales of palm pr and pi but go to sfr site nothing about it nada nich and i am a customer of sfr a got a lousy one liner about launch thats all i think guys at palm want things to fail badly so they do all the wrong things over and over it breaks my heart on palm fr too nothing just the same page of months i am too stupid to understand maybe
Ordered 3 Pixi's for 17 (son), 14, 12 (daughters) today. I own the Pre & wife has Hero.
this just looks like a failed attempt to move inventory so now you can get a pre or pixi for nearly nothing.. I bought my pre for $300 on june 6 2009. Now you can pick it up for little to nothing. & I get screwed because every other carrier is getting plussed!!! Where's sprint's plus??? Loyal palm fans (like me) are getting tired of getting the shaft!!!! Evo is looking real good if palm doesn't get their act together!!!
So, day one of the promotion and you've already decided that it failed. Wow.
failed us all who got the pre from day one!! Sprint users have sat by while verizon & now at&t get the plus versions..what do we get, the shaft!! No email or publication saying we could get upgraded to a plus for $x.xx, meanwhile hardware wise consumers get 8mp cameras, a good google maps, more than 8 gb of memory..
if being a loyal palm user means to sit on my hands & watch the rest of the world fly by me then I am jumpin ship..

$300 ? I don't remember it being that high at release.
I bought a Sea-doo a few years ago. Brand new, top of the line 4-stroke.
Less than a month later they announced a new supercharged version for $800 more than I paid. They never offered to exchange mine for the new one for $800. Should I have been upset?
So I bought my wife a Pixi yesterday at a Sprint store...
What's the best way to get my $150 out of pocket back?
Return the phone and order it off the website? (restocking fee...)
Call sprint and ask them to credit the account?

sprint is definitely trying to clear inventory. My friend went in with a broken blackberry 8330 and they told her she will be getting a brand new pre or pixi to replace it since they no longer carry that phone, her choice of the two.
