Palm Pixi Plus Pops up at FCC 23

by Dieter Bohn Sat, 27 Mar 2010 4:21 pm EDT

The O8F-PIXUW has popped up at the FCC, aka the P121UNA, aka a GSM Palm Pixi Pixi with North American radio bands, aka the forthcoming Palm Pixi Plus on AT&T

Oh, FCC code names aren't interesting? How about this, with previous releases we've been fond of what we're calling the ToniCipriani method of reading the tea leaves for devices releases. His (and our) preferred tea leaf? Checking the "Request for Confidentiality" document to see when Palm tells the FCC it's OK to drop the goods. Looks like Palm has wised up to that, however, as they've switched up their letter to say they want the details held "indefinitely."

In other words: "coming months" combined with armchair speculation about Palm's very low 4th quarter revenue predictions are all we have to go on when it comes to guessing the release date for this little guy.

Both the title ("Plus Pixi Plus") AND the first sentence ("Palm Pixi Pixi") have typos! Careful guys!

+1

fixed.

Sigh :|

No it is NOT!

"aka a GSM Palm Pixi Pixi"

I bet you guys would take your job more seriously if someone docked your pay for every sloppy typo you make. EVERY article on PreCentral has errors. Do you not want to be taken seriously?

relax chodaboy. The PreCentral crew works very hard to get stuff out in a timely and (generally) accurate fashion. It's Saturday. Dieter coulda waiyed till monday to post this, but he is going above & beyond.

so relax, and don't nit pick. This is a busy site with strong and loyal readership. I bet if you had several thousand people read every single thing you wrote/typed/said everyday, those people would find more than a few errors.

It's very simple to proof read. This obviously was not. I agree that nearly every article has errors and typos in it. This should not be acceptable for a "major" news site. There are countless news sites that are error free.

And since when is posting a simple article on a Saturday going "above and beyond"? Above and beyond what? Any reputable news site posts on the weekends.

They're only keeping the schematics and block diagrams indefinitely. Has always been the case.

External photos and other docs are to be released Sept 20.

More important than the people griping about typos, does this mean (if a Pixi Plus is coming to AT&T in September) that there is little to no chance of new hardware this summer?

Can't imagine AT&T accepting a Pixi of any kind if there is dramatically better hardware on the horizon. Unless this is going to be a much better Pixi. But that would be quite the use of resources for a company without many.

I believe you mean the PALM Pixi Plus? Haha :P

Dieter, your articles are always full of silly little mistakes. It's carelessness. Would you like me to sub Pre Central for you? Haha.

I'm so confused. The story and comments are just odd/surreal. I guess to sum it up, AT&T is getting a Pixi Plus. Didn't we know that?

I don't understand why there has to be so much secrecy surrounding phone release dates. They go out of their way to do things like that. Why? What do they gain by hiding when they want to release a phone?

they gain losses by people buying another phone because they cant wait.

I guess the whole point of this article was to show that Pre & Pixi really will be coming for AT&T. It also could point to Europe considering the Gsm standard.

Seen this?

Engadget has published an article about the usefulness of multitasking ( and questions it). The user comments are interesting, basically it's webOS = multitasking. Android ? Good but only usable with an app-killer program.
This is what droid does... Not good ;).

Seems Palm goes to extreme lengths to shield off any info about anything. Any workaround found by Pre fanatics is parried. Palm needs some serious zen time.

What's up with the grammar on these articles? It's like trying to solve a riddle.

+1 If I wanted to decipher what I read I would get a job with the CIA

I was thinking that before they bring out the flash player they getting the phones out to the major carriers. I hope that some new updates might be coming as well.

This article is crap. Stupid, full of mistakes, and pointless news that everyone already knew.

To all of the haters, if you want to read a serious news article, go to CNN or the NY Times. If you want to check out a website that shows you how to take advantage of a bad ass phone, the way that no other OS allows you to do, then shut up and follow the lead of precentral. Thank you, to all of the precentral staff.

Hurry it up, Palm. I'VE BEEN WAITING!!!!

hahaha i shit u not i was thinking wtf is a palm pixi pixi

You didn't fix the second typo the first commenter mentioned.

It's in the first sentence/paragraph:
"The O8F-PIXUW has popped up at the FCC, aka the P121UNA, aka a GSM Palm Pixi Pixi...."
