Palm Pre 2, to buy or not to buy? [poll] 113

Now that Verizon’s going all official with the Palm Pre 2, there’s a little question you have to ask yourself, and that we’re going to ask you: is it worth buying? Sure, it’s the last of the Palm brand and the current flagship webOS phone, what with its 1GHz processor, fancy pants glass screen, and webOS 2.0 operating system. But its days at the top are numbered, with the HP Pre 3 and HP Veer on their way to spoil the party. So do you jump now on the known quantity that is the Pre 2, or do you wait it out through the coming months to the undetermined release on undetermined carriers at undetermined prices of the Pre 3 and Veer?

I'd buy a Pre2 today... if it were on Sprint.
Same here I would buy it if it was on sprint even if it is going to be outdated in a few months.

let me give you the bad news, pre 2 is already outdated!
My Pre- is very outdated. Patched and overclocked it makes a great phone. I'll buy a Pre 3 when available on Sprint but the Pre 2 may make a great phone for some if they don't want the larger size.
In my case when the Pre3 came out I'd just give the Pre2 to my wife. She likes the Pre form factor and size, so it wouldn't go to waste. And if she chose to go the Pre3 route I've got 5 kids I can give the Pre2 to. Sadly, Sprint doesn't seem to be saying anything about what their longer term intentions are other than some vague "HP will continue to be a valued partner" blah blah blah. So I'll just have to wait and see what happens this summer. I've already explained to Sprint that if they chose not to carry the new HP products I would be taking my 5 phones to whichever carrier did have them. Hopefully other people are putting similar pressure on them to reach out to HP and get some commitments.
I have the sames thing in my house. 1 Pre2, 2 Pres, 2 Pixis. Pre2 is unlocked. All the rest on Sprint. I even franken-Pixied the Pixis. I am so not looking forward to switching anyone to a new network.

There should be a "Yes, if GPS works!!!" option -- because that's the boat I'm in!
true that; lately my GPS only works for a little while (a few hours, tops) right after I re-boot the phone. after that it absolutely does not work at all, period, under any conditions regardless of waiting, vznav 'trick', etc. even google location services doesn't work unless I'm on wifi.
I keep thinking maybe I should just ask for a replacement, but everything else about my phone works great - I worry I'd just be trading one irritation for another.
I'm very keen to find out what HP offers to "make things right" for existing palm customers.
Can any of you Pre2 owners (and there are at least 230 of you...at the time I voted in the poll) tell us, if you are on Verizon, how's the GPS? And, if you had the Pre+ on Verizon before, comparisons on GPS performance?
I can't explain my VZW Pre+ GPS behavior...it's on then it's off...it won't work for days...even weeks, then it works most every time for a week or two. I can't figure it out.
Hi
The GPS issue is a known webOS 2.0 (and 2.0.1) bug.
Seen on Palm Pre 2 as well as some older Palms with the webOS 2 (developer version) installed.
Looks as one has to wait for an update. (webOS 2.1?)
They should be given as replacements for Pre / Pre Plus devices that go bad.
can you add an option for "I can't, it's not available on Sprint" please? i'd get one to use while waiting for the Pre3, but i can't because it's not available on Sprint.
It's been announced for quite a while and just finally being released in the US. I'd wait for the Pre3 if I hadn't gone to the EVO 4G. I loved WebOS but Android is just as awesome. Preware is sick but so are custom ROMs on Android
i agree (got Epic). my gold sp upgrade will come soon after pre 3 comes out. although im quite happy with my epic. now, if only i could get webos to run on it :)
I agree but the UI on webOS is second to none.
I'm getting a Pre 2 now because I want a more durable version of the Pre Plus in the form factor I prefer. The Pre 3 may be bigger than I want so I'll get this now while I can. I'd go to great lengths to avoid a slab phone without a portrait slide keyboard.
+1
+1 Better than my Pre minus and I get WebOS 2.x now - don't want the bigger Pre3.
I'm waiting for the 2.x on my Pre+ I was promised 6 months ago... lol
I understand that frustration, but it's kind of understandable, no? Palm was certainly having some troubles and then with the big switch many of the workers were probably re-allocated to the Pre 3 and/or Veer team. To be honest, I don't think that the Veer team should have ever existed. I think HP really is going to turn a blind eye to the Pres, Pre Pluses, & Pixis. I can't totally blame them especially since many people contracts will be up by the time the Pre 3 comes out (which I feel should be sooner than summer).
Fingers crossed for Pre 3 on Sprint... though I don't know what I'm going to do about upgrading since my 22 months isn't until January... -_-
We need another choice for Sprint. I would think about it long and hard if it where sold on Sprint.
What to do?
I'm a long time, hardcore Palm user (since 1997) and I've grown frustrated with HPalm in recent years to the point of pre-ordering the iPhone 4 on VZ. This replaces my Pre+. After 1 week of use, I'm not sure what to do and with only 6 days left to return the iPhone, I need to make a quick decision. I love aspects of the iPhone, BUT completely miss the active notifications, true multitasking, the physical keyboard on the Pre+. The iPhone has widespread developer support, Audible, bluetooth keyboard support, iTunes integration (good and bad).......
I'm waiting another 2 days to see of VZ revives the free mobile hot spot with the 5GB plan, not the new 2GB plan, and initial reports of whether GPS is neutered or not. I'm not spending $10 a month for VZ Nav, just to be able to get location based services. IF feedback is positive this weekend, back the iPhone goes and I'll pick up the Pre 2.
Anyone else want to chime in? Positive and negative comments welcomed!
i have a pre and an iPod Touch and will be getting some sort of android device soon. if you don't need to have all the apps on your phone, then this is perhaps a viable option as it is for me.
I am in exactly the same place as you except that I have not pre-ordered the iPhone, but have been using an iPod touch for everything except phone calls for the last couple months. I find all the same positives for the iPhone and have the same concerns. Your post refers to the mobile hot spot and GPS. Are you referring to the mobile hot spot and GPS for the Pre or the iPhone?
I will definitely be moving away from HP/Palm with my next phone, I've simply had enough. I'm certainly not going anywhere near an iPhone, however. Unfortunately that leaves me with Android, which I don't love either, but they appear to be the lesser of three evils at this point.
That one is pretty tough to answer... I would answer 4 of the 6... (yes, I know there are only 5 above):
YES...Already have one, unlocked (or on SFR).
NO....Now that it's on Verizon, yep!
YES...Uh, no, waiting for the Pre 3/Veer.
NO....Waiting for something else... not sure.
YES...Happy with my current phone, thank you very much.
YES...Happy with my Sprint Pre2, custom hacked together!
I can answer yes to 4 of those because: I have an unlocked one (dev phone), I'm waiting for the Pre3 before buying another device, I am happy with my current phone, and I am happy with my Sprint Pre2
Would you like to share the Sprint Pre2 build step by step? I'm with the ones whose launch pre is falling apart as well.
May or may not work for you: http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pre-2/271193-pre-2-sprint-step-step-co...
Is there link to the Pre 2 hack for Sprint? I would love to give it a try. :-)
May or may not work for you: http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pre-2/271193-pre-2-sprint-step-step-co...
Im getting a free Pre 2 from the developer program and my hardware upgrade for Bell is in November so I should be able to get the Pre 3 when it comes to Canada.
Replacing my Android device ftw.
was going to preorder pre 2 at 9v.9v on vzw but not sure if mobile hotspot was still free. Want webos 2.0 but it sounds like pre2 situation is too fluid. Now the price is $149. What gives? Mightjust wait til vzw wants to get rid of the pre2 just before pre3 comes out. Also hope HP makes good on promise to make it right for legacy phones that can't upgrade to webos 2.0. Lots of fingers crossed. I will not give up webos.
To be honest, I don't know what the hell I'm going to do. I'm locked in contracts (for now) with Sprint. If the Pre3 or at least Pre2 doesn't come to Sprint then Ima let my contract run out and make my decision then.
Secretly I'm hoping HP will birth a 4" slab of sexy between now and then.
+ 1
Bring on the 4+ inch devices for us power users!
I'd hop out of my ATT contract with a friend's help (Having friends who are assistant managers is sweeeet) and join the big V for one and buy a cheap off contract phone for my girlfriend. Then when the pre3 comes out buy that and hand-me-down the pre2 to my girlfriend. Sounds shady but she doesn't really care.
In the short term I don't think I'm buying another phone. My Pre Plus, despite being in pretty bad physical shape, is running fine, no oreo, no nothing. Only issue is the OS, the lack of 2.0. I still have 4 batteries and a Pre Classic to run through. Another reason is I don't want to lose my "unlimited" data plan on Bell.
While I love my pre, I don't want to create a bunch of e-waste for a slight upgrade to the pre2. Maybe I will try the 3 but I will have to wait to see what is available in another 10 months when my contract is up...
pre 2 should have been a developer device only thing
It pretty much is now...
I used to be a palm fan but having an Android device for only one week made me not miss HP at all. I'm tired is their damn lies and promises. App catalog sucks, HP sucks and they will never succeed. Andriod rocks! Yes call me a troll whatever it may be but all I know is Apple or Android rocks.
You will be waiting forever to get an update on your phone that has been out for a long time. As I remember majority of Android phones don't even have 2.2 let alone the new update.
Enjoy the Android forums.
wheres the sprint please option?
No more HP/Palm devices for me.
While my Pre 2 is in the shop, I've gotten more adventurous with my Pre Plus (tweaks & patches for extra launcher pages, landscape mode for e-mail & PDF viewer, and 500/1000 screenstate overclocking). When I got the Pre Plus last summer, I was one of the last AT&T customers to keep an unlimited data plan when renewing. Any new phone for me most likely needs to be unlocked, so I'm not forced to accepted limited data... Pre 3's features will have to be a lot better than Pre 2 to make me switch up.
They should continue to sell it, even when the Veer and Pre 3 are out, because it's size and specs are exactly in the middle.
I would if it were avail. On Sprint! As or been said more than once. Although I would hate to see it on Sprint if it would keep Sprint from getting the Pre3.
Hard to answer.
I was looking at T-Mobile off-contract plans today thinking, if I drop my sprint account now it's $100 ETF for the two phones on my plan, and if I picked up a Pre 2 without a dev discount it'd be 450, with it'd be 250, and the plan would run me $70/month, or roughly what I'm paying now for my half.
$350/$550 is a little steep, but not so steep that it's not very tempting.
At first I thought I would never buy a Pre2. Now I got one through my dev account. Now I am really sorry I haven't got one earlier. Still thinking about buying a second Pre2. The device is a huge step from my OLD Palm Pre. It runs every app in an instant. Sitting on the toilet with the difficult question, shall I run this PDK game because it takes so long... Well Problem solved. This beast has almost no loading time at all. TMCE also gone. I'm in love with the new Pre2. Wouldn't belive that these little changes would make such a big difference!!
Sucks that I'm half way through with my contract!
I want the Pre3 and touchpad on sprint.I would also like for sprint to stop the madness with this premium members BS.
If you're on Sprint with a Pre minus, I recommend getting a Pre2 and Sprintifying it. I wish I'd done it long ago.
Is there a forums page dedicated to sprintifying a pre2? I would love to give it a try!
just post it on their Facebook page.
I spend my money on a HP Pre³. The Pre 2 is to expensive at the moment (499,- Euro in Germany).
NO THANK YOU Pre2! Two years attached to an already outdated phone, that would be a very dumb idea indeed. Silly HP/Verizon
Palm Pre3, wow that will also be outdated when it's eventually released. Im so excited guys I can't wait for another outdated phone!
@Andyrules: So, all people buying that iphone4 on Verizon are dumb people? ;)
I'm talking about the Pre here, but I'm not sure the Iphone is the best comparison to be honest.
The Iphone4 even after being released last year still leads the pack with Screen resolution, camera/video image quality, build construction, battery life, apps, etc...
What single spec will be an industry leader for the palm3 even if it was released tomorrow?
Industry leading specs for the Pre3 if released tomorrow:
-Processor speed: I don't think there's another 1.4 ghz phone out there right now
-Assuming the TouchPad was also released, they'll have the best ecosystem. There's no other tablet/phone combo that works together in the least, let alone like HP is planning.
-webOS in general is the industry leader in multitasking, although the others are starting to catch up
iphone 4 battery life is no where near even Pre-. I have both and the Pre lasts me longer even though I have more push mail accounts on it.
I have to disagree on the picture quality of iphone too. It may look all nice and neat but it also looks very unnatural. Colors are too vivid and unrealistic.
I'm afraid I regret buying my Pre 2. The hardware is mostly fine, even great. But if I'd known that, 11 years after buying a Palm V, I'd be stuck with a calendar on my phone that (a) syncs extremely erratically, if at all, and (b) syncs events only TWO MONTHS into the future, I'd never have splashed out £400.
Unless these huge flaws are fixed with an OS update pretty soon (which I really hope happens, not least for financial reasons), I'll just have to decamp to Android. I can't go on like this.
I have had the calendar issue with several phones. It looks like it is some kind of limitation put in place on purpose. I have never seen a phone properly sync more than 3 months. If you are syncing with Exchange both Pre and iphone don't sync past 3 months. Only good old Windows mobiles would but they seem to miss certain recurring appointments.
Nick_FFC: Good point, I after using Treo's since they were released on Handspring I also miss the calender notifications.
Other companies are copying the webOS notification but it still aint like PalmOS that would display the coming events on a launcher screen.
It needs to have a option to have a option for this and just not pop up on set alarm.
As Im in unofficial country I see no point getting the Pre2, still no paid apps support so I stick to my Pre1.
I've been using one for quite awhile, and I would highly recommend it. The speed, the Gorilla glass, the accelerated screen refresh rate, faster RAM, higher-res camera, and then all the goodies in webOS 2.0. Now that I've been using flash, don't know how I would go back. Same with Text Assist, stacked cards...but the real clincher is Just Type. I never use navigation for anything now. Before, if I wanted to find an email, I had to open the inbox to search. Now I can search not only every inbox on my phone, but every sub-folder right from Just Type.
I don't bookmark anything any more, because my entire browsing history is searchable from Just Type. I can search Amazon, Cabelas, Dictionary.com, CNN, even YouTube and the App Catalog from Just Type. And Quick Actions are drop dead easy, not to mention cool. I hand my phone to someone, and they can use it immediately...blows them away!
Yeah, there are still a couple of bugs, but they've been fixing those. All I can say is: I love my Pre 2!
Already got a Prē2 since october 2011 to replace my Prē 'classic' and now I'm waiting for the Prē3 and TouchPad.
Time travel much? :-P
Can't wait for the Pre3 and TouchPad even though I have the Pre2.
i don't want to get stuck with a phone i don't like for 2 years so im waiting for an all screen phone with decent battery life.
Wrong question, Verizon had nothing to do with it. I just bought a Pre 2, wanted to for a while, but wanted to wait to hear what HP planned for the future. But I cant choose that option in the poll can I? Why are the poll so centered on the US market?
Waiting for the Pre3, even if my Pre Plus does not get webOS 2.x.
If I could get OS2 on the pre+ I'd be happy for quite a while.
I accept their reasoning for not wanting to update older phones eventhough I am kind of mad about it because of their promise. Technology is moving too fast and supporting legacy products just consumes too much time. They would rather spend the time to refine their newer ideas than supporting their older ones.
Apple did the same thing. They didn't wanna update 3gs and then they ended up updating it and it had all kinds of issues after the update. In fact 3gs still has issues with the latest updates.
Same goes for Android phones. Majority of Androids don't have 2.2 let alone the latest update.
Palm should have never promised an update on older phones. They should have come up with a new idea something like recycling program. Take the old phones back and give us credit on newer models instead of trying to update older phones and make them even slower.
I already bought mine. Just waiting for them to get inventory and ship.
I was tempted to wait for the Pre3, but ultimately decided I don't want months to even find out if and when Verizon would have it.
I'm also toying with writing a few apps. If I managed to sell even hundreds of copies, it should be enough to finance an upgrade (or maybe a Touchpad instead).
I would like to buy an unlocked pre 2 now, and an unlocked pre 3 when/if it is released.
I'm actually switching to Android. Although I love webOS, I'm not willing to wait around in the vague hope that developers might back it. I still want there to be a strong 3rd (and even 4th place) smartphone OS, but two years waiting for Palm and now HP to do it have burned me out. I also think we're in the same position as the original Prē if the devices really aren't going to be out until summer.
I'd like to see more apps too, but the apps that matter the most to me are already there and work better on a Pre than anything else available.
I no have where to buy here... :-/
Best Regards... B-)
The picture, are there three sizes of pre now? Veer, regular...and did pre3 get bigger?
Pre 3 has a 3.56" screen versus the Pre 3.1" screen. So, yes, it is larger than a Pre -/+/2.
Holy Shot yourself in the foot Batman. The Pre2 is already old news now that Pre3 has been announced. Most people will wait to see if Pre3 will make it to their carrier and then make the switch depending on that.
For me, I'm a Sprint faithful that has felt very burned by the Pre- in the long run. If a Pre2 came out on Sprint last year, I'd have one now and would wait my 22 months for a Pre3. Now I'm waiting for a Pre3 only to know my existing upgrade will be pushed back thanks to the plan changes, but if anything it'll keep me honest until June at which point I'll be jonesing a Pre3 so bad I'll probably have shakes. I'll give it a month after another major US carrier before I'll decide to cut my losses.
If you are a launch day (06/06/2009) Pre- owner like I am, your 22 months should be April, 2011. Effectively, a downgrade to Sprint Premier Silver should not affect you this year.
I'd probably get one on Sprint only because Pre 3 carrier is still unknown.
nope pass on the pre 2, pre 3, and definitely the veer. Hoping for a different form factor.
Y'know, I'm looking at that lineup in the photo. From tiny to medium size.
They add a slab and they have a nice - and unique and INTEGRATED lineup.
Almost looks like apple and the ipods.
And more diverse than the iphone.
Just sayin'.
if I buy an unlocked gsm pre 2, can I activate it on sprint? And dump my original pre
Sprint and Verizon are PCS and thus CDMA which is not compatible with GSM or SIM cards. So the unlocked GSM "developer" Pre 2 devices would work on AT&T (and T-Mobile?), but not Sprint or Verizon.
Some brave souls have actually created a Franken-Pre by replacing the communications board in the Pre 2 with the one from their Sprint or Verizon Pre -/+.
Next, can we have a poll to see who actually really cares for the veer?
I am "On the Fence".
In my opinion the Pre 3 is too large and the Veer too small. Not to sound like a "Fairy Tale", but the Pre 2 seems just right (at least in regards to size).
My concern is the sliding mechanism. Some of the initial media suggests the sliding mechanism has been much improved on the Pre 3 and Veer. I have seen reports that the slider on the Pre 2 is still a little suspect.
If the Pre 2 slider is as good as the new options or will be soon, I am buying. If not I will continue to weigh my options as I hang on to my overclocked Pixi.
It is interesting that HP has bet all their chips on slider phones by eliminating (for now, at least) the candy bar Pixi format.
if Pre2 was on Sprint heck ya! I'd still get the Pre3 if it's on Sprint too! Everybody knows people always like the latest & greatest. If they have it, they will buy...
My poor Pre-, it takes a lickin, but keeps on tickin... It keeps going & going & going...
Is that pic to scale?
If so, I'm going to wait for the Pre 3 and buy some duct tape for my Pre -
Hmm 1ghz palm pre 2 now or dual core Atrix, Bionic, LG Opimus 3D, or any other awesome phone with more than 4 times the resolution that is faster than the Pre 3 and is coming out in in about a month? Or should I bend over to hp and get on a new less powerful phone of there's only to get shafted with no update support.
So, that's a "yes" to the Pre 2? (Just kidding. Did you see the Galaxy S II?)
First of all, THANK YOU for posting the life-size photos, this is the first opportunity I've had to visually compare the size of the 2 and the
3. I'd consider the 2 except that (a) I'm holding out for the bigger keyboard, and (2) in any case I'm not eligible for an upgrade until November. Was just told by an employee at the Verizon store they will "definitely" be carrying the Pre 3 so I'm reasonably comfortable waiting. And honestly, I'm pretty happy with my overclocked, patched Pre + so there's no big rush.
if only the pre2...
... Had a decent (read AF) camera
... Had QWERTZ
... Were available at a reasonable price (paid full 481 EUR for the pre, 340 EUR for the pre+ only to see their price drop by dozens of bucks within weeks and the slider getting loose and the screen scratchy)
So with the current hardware of the pre2, there is no way I'd pay more than 350 EUR for it. Even though I think the p3 is way too big for me.
I've seen a lot of comments that the Pre 2 is outdated (or the Pre Plus for that matter). Just because Ford has the Mustang GT500 doesn't mean that my Fusion is outdated & obsolete. I think that the same argument applies to our phones. My VZW Pre Plus is just fine for me. Eventually I'll move to a faster, more feature rich phone if the price point is right- perhaps 5G or even BieberG :).
New tech doesn't render existing tech obsolete.
Dave
I think the big problem is the name. Call it the "Pre 2" and it's soon outdated. Call it something else and it can become hp's capable mid level phone. HTC has a ton of phones with the same form factor, but differentiate most of them.
At least they didn't name it Pre 2010.
As VZW customer who is eligible for an upgrade I am thinking about getting the PRE2, but the PRE3 is also very appealing. So I am torn because what if the PRE3 takes forever to get to VZW and makes my PRE+ hobble into old age. Then again my current PRE+ is still running, which begs the question do I really need something new?
you certainly don't need a Pre3 if you already have a pre+...whats the point? just so you can have stacks? Get a real phone, go android or iPhone (and im not an iPhone fan!), at least then you will have upgrades and real advancement in your phones future!
I have a better poll.
If you were the owner of HP, what would you do?
1) Ask and pray Steve Jobs to hire again Rubenstein and the rest of the management
2) Ask Rubenstein and the rest of the management to resign
3) Fire Rubenstein and the rest of the management
4) Fire Rubenstein and the rest of the management and forbid them to work again in any IT industry
I expected better hardware with all the hype...I am waiting for something else whether it be WebOS or not...
I would buy a Pre 2 IFF I could get it off contract for $100 or less.
@digorykirk
I was referring to the Pre 2 when I mentioned my hopes the GPS is not crippled by VZ and that the Pre 2 gets the 5MB mobile hot spot feature added for free.
The more I think about this, the more I am leaning toward reverting to the Pre Plus. The iPhone will be around for years to come, so if HPalm chokes this year and fails us again with the Pre 3, then the iPhone 5 could be the option down the road (or a less expensive iPhone 4 six months from now.
I like your idea of the Pre / iPod touch combination, especially considering the use of the ipod touch with the Pre Mobile hot spot feature.
Let's see what tomorrow brings!
The comment I would have is I am waiting for the iPhone 5. No not sures. My Palm Pre Plus will be my last Palm and of course, it isn't even Palm anymore, just HP.
Kind of melancholy about it, but it really is just too little to late. Another announcement and another 6 month delay, just like the original Pre.
But, on the computer side I am an apple guy and with HP, they are going to be putting webos on windows machines, so the ecosystem for me is better with the iphone anyway.
With my front face cracked on my Pre+, I just hope it lasts until the 5 is out.
Palm is dead. Long live Palm.
redundant
After seeing what this company has done to the original pre/pixi owners, why would any of you want to buy this phone or any further device (pre3[super original phone by the way] / veer)??? Just plain not smart!
My Pre+ (Verizon) works fine, no issues. I've decided to wait till the summer and choose then, Pre 3 & pad, iPhone 4/5 & pad or Andriod?
I love Palm and would like to stay but like many was disapointed with the HPalm delay in getting the phones out.
I voted waited for the Pre 3, but that's because I'm with Sprint. If the Pre2 had come onto Sprint, I would have already purchased it. But if I had stayed with VZW and had the PrePlus, I'd be staying with the PrePlus until the Pre3 came out.
I went looking for one and the stupid rep kept trying to steer me toward other phones. He then told me it was "$500 or $600" off contract. I walked out in disgust.
I had to rewrite this twice now.
The issue is in the selection of features for the new Pre3 and the more sensible 1 ghz processor on the Pre 2.
If the Pre3 is not in production, the company needs to make a quick decision to add a small dual core processor with a larger battery accommodation. A 3.6 inch screen phone was never intended to use the same battery of that of a basic phone nor did anyone think this would happen 5 years ago( and nor should it).
Currently my pre gets about 4-6 hours during typical use. A 1ghz phone running more background application can expect no more then 4 hrs of use and a 1.4 ghz phone with video calling and likely even more background data is at 90 minutes. The Pre3, in its current form is undoubtedly tempting, but ultimately you want to be able to leave your house. After all, that is the intention of a mobile phone device.
Unless Sprint and other non-gsm carrier can come up with the way to quickly switch active phone swaps. Which I believe Spring is intended to have through the automated system, there is significant issue with many devices including the WebOS and many others. As one has trouble adding productivity and entertainment to their lives while maintaining practical basic use.
This has always been an issue here and there. Today it is more relevant with concern as its an issue that can be solved and has been by few companies and simply not adopted. We as insider and outsiders alike would like an explanation to controllable issues such as this topic. All the hype and the wait time is circumstantial even the 2.0 update. This decisions is not. If anyone interviews one of the developers please ask about the decision behind the 1.4 ghz processor. The only thing I can come up with is the GPU pairing of the processor, though there's no reason for the battery. Even keeping cost down is ridiculous as we are certain the boast in sales and reputation for a premier product out weighs this issue heavily.
They know a head of time this configuration will drowned sales by 50%. Again I believe its a form of autocracy but it is a bit scary that it is allowed to exist without confiscation nor liability.
