Palm Pre Now Available via Sprint Telesales 23
We know that Palm Pre inventory at Sprint is pretty thin, but apparently it's not too thin to prevent Sprint from (finally) reversing their policy of only selling the Pre at their in-real-life stores. Jason just sent in a link to Sprint's Twitter page, wherein they have announced that you can now order via Telesales.
Enterprising people that we are, we just called 1-800-SPRINT1 to verify and yes-indeedy, we were given the chance to order a Pre. That's the good news. The potentially not-so-good news is that the best window they could give us with regard to availability was "five to seven business days." It'd be nicer to have a clearer picture of when they can send, but it's better than nothing. Looks like the story of weekly shipments coming into Sprint are true (not that we doubted).
Thanks, Jason!

That's great, but what would be better is Sprint bumping up my available upgrade date just a few days.
Just email ecare, they took care of me.
I have to wait until August 1st. It's killing me!!! Can't wait!!

Does anyone know if there is a fee for ordering through Telesales, like the $18 fee that they charge for "in-store activation"?
Any idea when it will be offered on Sprint.com?
In most cases when you upgrade through Telesales they do not charge the Upgrade fee or Shipping....
I can't wait till they open it up to 3rd party retailers and employee acct's.
Ugggggg
3rd Party booooooooooo ..... Employees YES!!!!

This is what I'm paying from telesales, for me it's worth it. I have been waiting and soooo excited to be getting my Pre.
Estimated Shipping: 12.00
Estimated Tax: 30.45
Account Setup Fee: 18.00
Total: 396.43
I forgot to mention I'm also getting another battery. My total before the battery added was $339.29 including tax for the Pre.
yep waiting for it to be available on employee referrals. hope they hurry up. grown tired of waiting. and i've been waiting for the touch pro but it wasn't good enough, then the G1, same story. man i want a new phone.
When you say employee referrals, are you meaning through some sort of benefits program from your company? My company that goes through beneplace is now allowing us to order the Pre through their website.
Just got the call I was promissed to get on launch day offering the Pre. O well I went out and got it on launch day so it wasn't necessary.

just ordered mine today, and they waived the shipping and activation fee. So all I paid was the $299 and tax, which brought the total to about $320
They told me I should have it in 5-7 business days
what is the telesale like? how do you set up a new sprint account with it?
I just ordered one too, and it came out to $345 with the activation fee. Telesales is pretty much someone walking you through setting up an account. I ported my number over from Verizon, and she pretty much just did everything while I was on the phone.
is there an advantage to telesales. I mean i can get one at sprint near me. my issue is i can't afford the standard plans so i have to wait to get a referral discount. Or is this more of a benefit to those that can't find the pre near them?
Does anyone know when the Pre will be avabilable through Sprint's online site?
Here's what I did (before the phone was avail via Telesales (i.e. two days ago).
1. Called Telesales to upgrade. Was on SERO @ $30/mo. Requested the Employee Plus Referral plan @ $59.99/mo. Got that set, confirmed the change online.
2. Had to go to a *corporate* store location. Here they added me to the wait list for the Pre. Got a call the next morning to pick-up the phone.
3. Since the corporate stores have access to your account, they can activate on the existing Employee Plus Referral plan.
4. Walked out of the store 30 minutes later with my Pre all set up.
I called Sprint to order the Pre after failed atempts to find it at other Sprint locations. I called them on Wednesday (7/1/09). I'm now waiting for my Pre which should be delivered via UPS today (7/3/09). 2 days. Not bad.
