Palm Pre Plus back in stock at AT&T online 6

by Robert Werlinger Thu, 19 Aug 2010 12:31 pm EDT

Our curiosity was piqued when earlier this week we discovered that the Palm Pre Plus was listed as "out of stock" on the online portals of both AT&T and Verizon. After about a day and a half of guessing what these device shortages could mean, we're glad that we didn't try to read too deeply between the lines: they're now back in stock at AT&T Wireless.

If you're looking for a more smokin' deal, HP Wireless Central has the AT&T and Verizon Pre Plus for free with a $50 gift card - don't forget that Verizon Pre Plus comes with free Mobile Hotspot service too.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I guess Palm expected a follow-up order from AT&T since they fore-casted a slight revenue bump for Q3 in their last financial statements. Let's hope Verizon is doing the same!

OK...why hasn't Sprint jumped on the bandwagon and dropped the price of the Pre like other carriers. This has me worried about getting the next gen phone due to poor sales. I know it's not the plus but man you can @ least get some people to try it out. Better yet have it +'d. We've seen how easy the Pixi/Pre can be +'d so why can't they just swap those boards, flash the Sprint stuff to it, drop price, and finish with there inventory.

Not sure if dropping the price would make a significant difference. If HP is essentially now PAYING people to take the plus versions (free w/ a $50 gift card) and they are still not sold out, clearly the price is not the barrier to purchase.

It's also clear that getting "plus" versions would do little to stimulate sales at Sprint. Sprint's just charging what they can for the inventory they got while they can.

The price of sprints plans might have something to do with them not dropping the price of the phone. A lot of their other older phones are still fairly high priced as well.

On a brighter note.. you can get a $50 hp gift card with the sprint pre as well.

clearly they listened to the Pre Central Palm cast and discovered the problem.

If you look at AT&T's page, they have the Pre Plus for $299.99 outright, no contract pricing.
