Facebook Beta with landscape support

Attention Facebook Beta Client users: Palm’s dropped a preview image of what we can expect in a coming release: full and landscape support with selectable/filtered views of the news feed, the ability to clear all notifications at once, and other unspecified updates. Drop date is unknown, but we're excited regardless.

Can we get a “huzzah!”?

Source: Facebook for Palm webOS, thanks to supercluver for the tip!

Nice!

awesome! I'd like more in your face friend notifications too. Don't want chat. Thanks!

and the ability to open photo comments, and to stop the annoying jump back to the top of the screen would be nice.

I wrote a patch but also in their discussions on Facebook they say they're addressing the issue... http://forums.precentral.net/webos-patches/254032-patch-facebok-disable-...

toll

That means the onscreen keyboard will need some refining.

Tried the most recent beta they haven't released yet. The one that suggested they fixed the photo link bugs that weren't fixed.

Not betching as I still like the app and am grateful. But some of the steam they had going into this project feels like it's slowing down. Can't we release this just a feature or two at a time, especially as applies to fixes?

too bad my facebook app is borked. Won't accept my password anymore.

huzzah!

(im disappointed nobody else has said that yet)

huzzah!

Yay. Filtering out all the app spam in the feed will be immense!

This all seems nice, like the clear all notifications @ once thingy cus that was a major pain. I stil IMO think that being able to accept FR, see who likes a status and being able to get some type of notification as know you have mail in ur inbox from the home screen as to having to actually go to ur inbox to know.. Than landscape mode.. All in all I still love this app and it's growing very nicely.. Keep up the good work :)

First, I never even did FB until I got the Pre..... it has made life amazing.

Now I am wondering if that little glitch we experienced for about 12 hours the other day, and the fix not being released but just being fixed (as reported to and told by one of our awesome forum users), was part of some development of the next gen app. Since from the source, the fix was on the Palm side and not the FB side.... and it was fixed without an update to the app.

I am excited for the next update, wonder when we will see this in the beta, I currently run both FB apps (redundent I know) but I like using the beta, and like have the non beta if something is in the beta I don't like.

Ugh, screw Facebook. Haven't used it in years. I wish they'd get off their ass and improve the Youtube app instead.

Yes! I thought I was the only one noticing how lacking the Youtube app was.

I think every webOS user with a youtube account hates it... if I can't get my subscriptions, it's useless. No subscriptions, no favoriteds, no comments- actually, I think we can all agree that for the sake of our on sanity youtube comments should be kept out of the app- no looking at your own videos, no high quality, no selection of video quality at all, no landscape navigation of the app, no portrait viewing for videos... it's almost completely useless. And the new mobile version of YouTube in the browser won't work on webOS yet- Google claims to be working on it. They're probably telling the truth on that. There really needs to be a revamp of the YouTube app by this fall at least.

m.youtube.com is the new mobile youtube site.
apparently it is way better than the youtube apps on any platform with even better resolution.

that's cool I guess....but uhmm? Facebook chat? Requests? Really?

I suggest you try the FB chat patch and get back to us if you REALLY want that feature... That was ridiculously annoying =/

facebook chat patch isn't working for me. Andi would like my facebook app to stand up to the iphone app. And I would really like to have that feature on the facebook app. Like many others.

so I would really like that feature.

I could careless about chat and I don't care about iPhone either.. Beside haven't you noticed how FB murders ur battery.. So know you want to be waisting ur time on it chatting as well? But hey do you!

it's a way to keep contact with people when I don't have service and I'm on WiFi. Cuz sprint sucks

Why do we need landscape mode?

Why do we need it now? We probably don't, except for maybe reading long notes. However, this might be a hint at the new hardware, which could be a landscape slider. I know the Palm purists usually boo and hiss at such suggestions, but it does make some sense to change up the form factor, or at least to offer an option.

HUZZAH

hey I should have sent you guys a tip for this too.... Iposted it on the forums... Lol

When do we see it is all I want to know!

Huzzah!!! loving the updates and other goodies that are coming out in app catalog too.

I'd love to see the ability to add a caption to pictures I upload from my phone. And ya, the annoying bounce to the top of the news feed has to go!

What are you talking about? If you upload directly from the app it lets you enter a caption.. It's right @ the bottom after pressing add

I upload from the camera application -- not the facebook application

thank god for the clear all notifications at once! it is so annoying when i get 3 notifications, for 3 different replies to the same thread, I read all 3 when i click on the first notification, then I have to load it 2 more times for no reason except removing them.

The clear notifications is my favorite update. Everything else is bonus. I really would like though the photos to load faster, it seems to take an eternity to load.

Sweet! The more landscape support webOS has the better. The ability to clear all notifications is going to be awesome.

Huzzah! With a Booyah bonus!
getting drunk in wine country.....
keepin an eye on P|C news...
starting to see double ;-)

Meh.

No offence, I used landscape mode [at most] twice when I used my Palm Pre...which I used for 13 months.

I think Palm could spend more time on more pressing issues.

In all honesty, the Facebook for Palm app is the BEST facebook app that exists across android/iphone/blackberry. This is not where Palm needs to focus.

it'd be cool if they implemented a virtual keyboard for landscape view

I lost my first pre in jan and sense I got this new one everything works but my Facebook app and now that you can't just go to the site my FB life sucks can som1 tell me what I can do I sign in and all it duz is give me the loading spin ..... And on the beta... Help help help!!!!!

+1 for reset to top of list glitch
+1 for one touch remove notifications and add friends request
-We should also be able to set the app to display back a certain number of days or set a bookmark to start from. When you have a large friend list, it can get unruly with the older post button presses.
The pictures tab and ability needs to be fixed since half the pictures do not work above a certain size limit.

To end the app spam, the only way seems to be hiding it on the desktop web browser.

Awesome!

Just another testimony that the PRE screen is too small. Can' wait for the next webos phone with a bigger screen.

I Don't want landscape. What's the point you got to rotate to type anyways. And laying down in bed it will rotate to landscape. Can I see my friend request and pokes??

My only wishes:

- Make the app faster, it takes a lot to open a notification, also get rid of the jump to the top of the app.

- Make some kind of "guest login", so I don't get on synergy the contacts and calendar of my friend's friends when I lend them my Pre.

okay so i can make it landscape but only after looking at a pic and it looks nothing like this

Without a virtual keyboard, the landscape update is pointless. Anyone agree???
