Palm's site updated with newly announced devices (but lacking Palm logo) 22

by Jonathan I Ezor Wed, 09 Feb 2011 6:46 pm EST

That didn't take long. Mere hours after the announcement of (upcoming) TouchPad, Veer and Pre3, Palm has updated its site with descriptions, images, specs and promotional video of all three devices. You can find links to all of them via the main Palm.com homepage, or via these direct links:

What isn't showing on the Palm home page is the Palm logo itself. It seems that the overall branding of the devices is still in flux; the Pre, Pre Plus, Pixi and Pixi Plus still have the Palm name, the Pre 2 has no brand, and today's announced devices are branded with HP. Given the complete lack of Palm branding during today's HP event, we're not surprised by this, but it is a bit sad. Even when Palm was owned by U.S. Robotics and then 3Com in its early days, it still retained the Palm branding. It's a shame that it is being phased out.

I also don't see any mention of webOS 2.0 anywhere on the site.

rubinstein is secretly killing palm for Jobs

lol

actually the site was updated during the event.

Very disappointing that these have so little memory and no microsd card slot. I was holding out for a Pre3 but am not willing to keep carrying a separate phone and mp3 player, just because I have more than 20 gigs of music.
Nor to I want to try to stream all my music from your HP server, thankyouverymuch.

So, this is a fail and a disappointment and I'm sorry to see that HP's greedy desire to make people run their lives on the HP Cloud overcame the desire to have a simple phone that does its job. Wish we could have seen something to feel better about today.

20gigs of music @ all time with you... then stop carring around all your britney spears and mikey mouse music.. good music fits in 3-4 gigs easly - DERP

The Palm Logo Is There It Just Depends On What Browser Your Using I Pulled The Home Page Up On Firefox(HP) And Chrome(HP Palm) So It Is Either A Scripting Error Due To The Update Or They Intend To Do Away With The Palm Name

Please explain to me how these product releases are any different than when Palm announced the Pre at CES and then didn't deliver it until June? Both the Pre 3 and the Touch Pad are not going to be available until "summer". Summer begins in June. I thought the president of HP indicated that products would be delivered in weeks and not months from announcement? Please don't post angry comments about this. I am just disappointed and I am probably going to go get an EVO, because I'm on Sprint and I'm not going to switch.

i am not going to get an Evo but i feel you on this one. i was really hoping they would have at least a slab phone to please those who want one and the slider keyboard phone. webOS is too great HP don't f*** it up.

told anyone that apotheker knows jack s**t and to say that they built better stuff than apple is a BOLD STATEMENT.. deliver before you guys talk. and the palm pre3 with a 1230 mah battery.. and a 1.4 cpu.. an the mic is under the hood.. on the keyboard !! jeeesssuss

Actually, they launched the pages as they were covered in the presentation. I was refreshing the pages and noticed the Pre3 and VEER then about 5 minutes later, tada... the TouchPad.

First Sprint disappointments now HP this week has not been what I hoped it would be.

I kept my expectations low for the HP event but I should have lowered them even further. Nothing game changing and don't see how they are going to steal the cool away from Apple. No wonder why Sprint has not signed onto a Palm/HP device since the Palm Pre exclusivity fiasco.

It's just a regurgitation of the same old crap. Wait for the coming months and we'll release tech that will be quickly trumped by everyone else.

After being a webOS user since Palm Pre launch day in June of 2009, I feel violated and dirty...like the kids in the South Park episode when they sit through the new Indiana Jones movie and compare it to a rape scene.

The only thing that I can get somewhat excited about is the Touchpad and success of the Touchpad is going to be dependent on apps; the lack of which was not fully addressed. They have a Kindle app coming (hopefully, not going to count on it as I still don't have previously announced features on my Palm Pre). If they can't get Hulu Plus on this thing...it will definately fail

I count 2 form factors mentioned at the HP event and only one is new. The Veer and Pre 3 are one form factor the Touchpad is another. Previous comments from HP people indicated more new form factors.

The Veer is basically the Pixi mated with a Palm Pre so instead of the candybar form, it becomes a slider. Veer and Pre3 have nothing really to be excited about. Just a spec bumped and resized Pre. Although I don't mind the Pre form factor, it would be nice to have some alternatives.

No OTA updates for devices prior to the Pre2 is ludicrous. In the coming months, maybe I'll be able to doctor my phone with 2.0. MAYBE...doubtful since I have a Sprint Palm Pre.

I'm not going to write off webOS yet and jump ship although I am currently regretting my choice not to get an EVO last June or in December when I could get for $100 through Shack promotion. I will be looking into other options in the future...Playstation Android phone looks interesting.

I am not impressed with today at all. More depressed than impressed. I have til October to see IF HP comes out with anything for Sprint. If not, I'll be looking at other Smartphones. I love webos but if it isn't on the network of choice, there is only so much you can do.

The Palm logo is still on the touchstone under the accesories section!

What a bunch of crybabies.

As far as im concerned the palm brand died when it had to put it self for sale.

That about sums it up.

see. you. later.....

And now it's back! Will they make up their minds?

That's because palm is just simply embarrassed by itself, letting hp take the full brunt of the SHAME of mediocre products. What? a 1.4ghz CPU is cool? they didn't even build that, they'r buying it!

Flash??? (Looks at watch...)
