Palm Pre on 24 Palm Pre on 24

Terrorism serial super drama 24 is back, and while Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is retired, that doesn’t mean that Palm is out of the game. If you’ve been watching, Sprint has been a long time sponsor of 24 and in the past hero Jack has used his own super Treo. While we haven’t been able to pin down what phone retired Jack is using this year (looks like it may be a Samsung Moment), we can say for sure that Dana Walsh (played by Katee Sackhoff) is sporting the original webOS handset: the Palm Pre. And for those of you wondering, the guy she’s talking to in the video after the break has a Sprint Hero, not a Palm Pixi.

Now here’s a hypothetical: If Jack Bauer had a Pre, what would it do?

Have you spotted the Pre, Pixi, or other Palm device on your favorite show? Drop us a note at pretips@precentral.net with the show and a few relevant details like air date, time in the episode, and an online video link if you've got one!

real time satellite images, and it would have flash as well. Oh and video conferencing

His SuperPre would synch to his desktop so terrorists that hacked the cloud would not be waiting for him at his next dentist appointment.

And his battery would last longer than a shift. And I'm sure he'd have an SD reader for uploading enemy files for Chloey.

Who are we kidding? Nothing replaces the treo.

it would do all that tracking stuff ala The Bourne Ultimatum.

it would do all that tracking stuff ala The Bourne Ultimatum.

24 hour battery life under use. Ever notice jack don't change phones?

I would love to have his service. Seriously, he gets service in caves, basements, and the craziest place...in a house.

It would have a voice alteration app so he could sound like anyone he wanted.

shoot missiles? :D

most likely itll have the live satellite streams

He'd have one heck of a custom navigation app, and a whole lot of location based services stuff. Probably some location spoofing and jamming as well. Ambient static electrical battery charging. Serious weapons grade encryption. And an absolutely amazing flashlight app.

Is that an extended battery cover?

Google maps x10, with blue force tracker

... and i saw Palm Pre in HEROES ;)

I wonder how long it'll take before these CTU apps appear in preware.

lol.........that was awesome!

He'd have quiz apps to test his knowledge of his favorite terrorists and government officials.

Since the show is presented in real time, he could tap his calendar just before the commercial break. On return he'd be shaking it saying in his frenzied whisper-shout "come on!" and it would finally open to show that not all of his Google calendar events are displaying properly. Then he'd type the Konami code, but instead of a developer mode toggle, it would show a torture mode toggle which he would set until the Pre cries "uncle" and fixes the calendar.

lol........that was awesome!

Not only does she carry a Pre, it's been hacked! Did anyone notice last night that she disconnected the call by closing her phone..
There's a patch for that (Close Slider to End Calls) courtesy of KeyToss.

Jacks' Pre will work in a car, it'll work in a bar.
It'll work on a train, it'll work in a plane.
It'll work without a charge, it'll work on an African barge.
It'll work in a pool, it'll in a school,.
There's nothing Jacks Pre couldn't do..

The "Close Slider To End Calls" is AWESOME. I love answering my Pre by Sliding up, because the device feels like a REAL Phone when talking on it with the slider open. Then, it is so easy and NATURAL to hang up/finish the call by simply reversing the action by Closing the slider. Shocked this is not built in to the software as a basic On/Off option. There is even a modified version of KeyToss' patch, which ignores the closing slider if a BT or hard-wired headset is attached!

Nice "poem" BTW!

Dr Seuss lol

lol well he said "do not hang up this phone" so maybe she didn't b/c she forgot to press the red end-call button and just thought closing the slider would do it :-)

he'd use it to kill vampires in santa cruz

Don't forget the bomb outside the UN building was triggered by a Palm Treo!

his mic would break :p

he's more of nokia guy, n95 or n82 i'd say.

Jack would be able to reposition satellites, control CTU drones, and search FBI/CTU/NSA/CIA terrorist databases, all at the same time. (Everyone at CTU would be out of a job.)

Easter Egg function: fire laser beams, deflect incoming RPGs, and make a killer latte...

tears in my eyes I guess .... Damn that was some funny $hit. I was in a very bad mood until I read some of these... The dr. Seuss was icing. This site and community just keeps on giving and giving ... Sniff sniff.

I'll never understand why PreCentral posts stuff like this. Who freakin' cares? For the inevitable person who does care: you really, really shouldn't.

dude stfu.. seriously.. just shut the fuck up. ur hating on a post the everyone before u has enjoyed and had a good time with.. ur just being a post grinch... no1 likes post grinches

Damnnn mood killer

Is it me! Or does her Pre look different on the back and the Top-Front of phone?. She has the Pre 2 LOL.

LMAO, im one of the proud and few with no dead zones in da crib

I'm just glad my pre doesn't have that fat sprint logo on the front. nothing against sprint but I like the clean look with out it

I've seen a ton of Treos and Centros on General Hospital for years now. Someone important on the crew is a fan boy or girl.

I don't think Jack would have a Pre because it is still too slow.... BUT maybe he would because maybe they would be the only phone to survive his stunts... Last night my Pre got SLAMMED into the asphalt. Although it seemed dead when I picked it up I re-sat the battery and it started to boot but never finished... 15 minutes later I re-sat the battery again and then it finally booted and now seems non the worse for ware... I was REALLY thankful!
