Palm Sighting: 24 18

Jack Bauer, with a Pre

Jack Attack! Super agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) of 24, who we previous thought was toting around a Samsung Moment, was spotted last night using our favorite Sprint handset: the Palm Pre. And he was multi-tasking! Though we should note that this wasn’t CTU-issue, Jack lifted this phone from a, uh, well, a henchman that he took care of earlier in the hour. I guess henchmen need to synergize too.

And yes, we saw that Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff) had a Pre too; she sure seems to get a lot of calls on her personal phone. And the highly ironic Verizon Pre Plus commercial. So now we have to ask the question again, since Jack’s Pre is no longer hypothetical: what does Jack’s Pre do?

Have you spotted the Pre, Pixi, or other Palm device on your favorite show? Drop us a note at pretips@precentral.net with the show and a few relevant details like air date, time in the episode, and an online video link if you've got one!

Thanks to Steve, H2O, Wes, haggai221, Michael, and Jeff for the heads up!

While these are sometimes interesting to read, it really does suck when you think we might have 'that' article up stating that flash/webOS 1.4 is available and all you really have is a sighting... :(

No 1.4 today, so far.

And the moon has nit fallen into the Pacific today, so far.

Palm stock is above 5 and below 20 today, so far.

February not yet canceled, so far.

Pre 2 was not announce today, so far.

No, February was canceled. Go home, we'll see you in March.

Black History month gets no respect. Positioned in the shortest month on the calendar, and now cancelled outright.

We had to cut back, and February was the shortest month. It had nothing to do with the fact that February is Black History Month, National Hot Breakfast Month, Great American Pies Month, Creative Romance Month, Low Vision Awareness Month, or International Mother Language Day Month.

It was because February is Canadian History Month.

I love that they let so much of the webos GUI make it on the air. But Jack didn't appear to have video yet. No wonder it's not standard issue like his Treo was. :)

Jack just needed a kick-ass phone! And he gots it now :)

Jack Bauer's Palm Pre App Catalog can filter out Brighthouse Labs and Dijit.

The Konami code on his Pre unlocks "interrogation mode"

+100 haha ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!! Nice one Maul564

24 has had a long standing deal with Sprint to use their phones. I remember in the first season, the president used a Samsung A900 (You might remember it as the black RAZR wannabe phone that Sprint carried before CDMA was added to the RAZR). Countless 700 and 750p's have been seen throughout the show.

@Maul564 HILARIOUS!

Saw this yesterday when I was watching the show. It got me wanting to text a buddy who had an iPhone, "See? Jack Bauer uses the Palm Pre... And so do the most sophisticated terrorists!".

I beg to differ with the observation that it was a henchman's phone. While Jack DID pick up a phone from the henchman he stabbed near the main power-switch; he leaves it on a shelf after calling Chloe and asking her to trace it. It isn't until AFTER CTU backup arrives that Jack shows off the Pre and some flipping between cards.

I'm not even all that crazy about 24, I'd rather have been watching some boring Olympic events. But, I do LOVE my Pre and while watching the show with my housemate (who is a 24 fiend) we were discussing why henchmen and villains don't get cool phones.

It'd be just about the worst product-placement ever. No sponsor would want their wares shown-off in the hands of a terrorist, much less a nameless dead one. No, the awesome phones are reserved for protagonists. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if we see an iPhone or Droid with a bomb-detonation app, complete with countdown timer and beeping.

If there's one thing I've learned from television and movies, it's that bombs always have timers and beeping. Maybe the webOS 1.4 update will help Jack track-down that elusive fissile material!

Did anyone notice the AT&T commercial with what looks like a pre? They seem to take a subtle swipe at the pre. There are like 6 people eating in a restaurant. The announcers says "we've replaced these guys AT&T smartphones phones with verizon smartphones." Then when they get to one that looks a lot like the pre they lady says, "Where are all my apps?" They take a droid swipe too as the zoom in on what looks like a droid and the guys says, "What is this thing?"

guess not

Henchmen do need synergy - you have the "Job" the "family" all those "union obligations" when ever I ... er um ... that's what i've heard.

Did anyone else think cards and the gui seemed to appear in black and white?

I wanna know where is the market that they put the big ole Sprint logo on the top left corner of the phone? It's huge. You'd almost expect to see it backlit and pulsating.
