Palm Sighting: The Old Guys 14

While we in the States may not get the jokes, we still notice when a Palm device pops up on the BBC. This time it was British sitcom The Old Guys (not viewable in the US of A, or outside of the UK for that matter), a show about two, as BBC describes the, elderly delinquents. Apparently in the latest episode, one asked for a smartphone and received a... drum roll please... Palm Pre. It’s one of the few unboxings we’ve see on TV of any phone, let alone for a sitcom.

There's more than a few clips of the show on YouTube, of course. Doubt this scene would be there, though.

what we need to spot is the new hardware (if it ever gets here)
I wonder if that was a paid product placement or just because the writers are smart homebrewers. It would be cool if a PC editor could contact the show to hear how they wrote unboxing a specific phone in to a script.
and to give them script ideas for featured like touchstone, mobile hotspot, etc could make for good story lines.
can you imagine these two guys trying to join precentral or figure out how to install preware, overclock, figure out what oreo means, etc? That would be great!
Are you serious? For a start this is the BBC, they're not big on such blatant product placement, and secondly do you REALLY think any of those ideas would make for a good story line? I for one don't anyway.
The BBC does not do product placement as it does not even have advert breaks, I think thats why this is so unusual to see a product like this on a show.
Hey I got a hold of the script so we can put this into some context:
Old man: I'd like a smartphone! It would go great with my tea and crumpets, old chap!
*receives phone*
Old man: But this is a Pre!
*sad trombone*

The detective on ABC's Castle is using the pre and the touchstone.
The show 24 uses the Sprints palm pre. It's in season 8 on episode 12 or 13. There's a scene when the main character jack bauver ends a call on the pre, and it shows how he has to flick a card off the screen. It shows the phone used throughout the rest of the show, just not in detail.
Hannah - The Blond girl from Pretty Little Liars use the Pre and Aria..the main girl update from her kin one to Pixi in the Last ep..

The pre was in episode 6 series 2 (ie the final episode of the series). To save you watching other episodes as it is not that good a show!.
