Palm Sightings: FlashForward and Lie to Me 35
It would seem that the entire FBI Los Angeles Field Office in FlashForward has been issued Pre phones. This week’s episode of FlashForward had the Pre in the hands of Agents Mark Benford (played by Joseph Fiennes), Demetri Noh (John Cho), and Janis Hawk (Christine Woods), as well as Director Stanford Wedeck (Courtney B. Vance). Who says the Pre lacks enterprise support? Everyone in the FBI has one, and they even seem to know how to use them!
Agent Noh (John Cho) chillin' in the White House with his Pre.
The FBI isn’t the only organization adopting the Pre on screen. Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) in Lie to Me also has a Pre, but he only seemed to have the phone when trotting around Mexico. Perhaps it’s running on Telcel?
Have you spotted the Pre, Pixi, or other Palm device on your favorite show? Drop us a note at pretips@precentral.net with the show and a few relevant details like air date, time in the episode, and an online video link if you've got one!
Thanks to Glenn, greenmonkey, jgrmsmith, MCPTV, punzada, Tasselhof, and Trevor for the FlashForward tip, and Mike for Lie to Me!

Maybe, in a future episode, a character will state that when they flashforwarded to 2010 they were finally able to download some decent apps for their pre!!!
I do care, up to a point. I like that the phone is being given this level of visibility as it might push people into moving over from whatever phone they may (or may not) currently have over to the Pre, and I'd like to think that this sort of spike in Palm users would only benefit those of us who are already here using it!
Hey, this is going to sound rhetorical, and I really don't mean it to be: does anyone actually care about these Pre sightings? I really don't find it interesting at all to see which television shows Palm is spending its marketing money on. Do other people? Maybe it's just me, in which case: carry on.
This was great when we were anticipating the release of the Pre, but now this series is just boring. More apps please!
I don't care much, but seeing the Pre in media means that more people will see it...and there are those who support things just because they saw them somewhere. So, product placement or not, it's good for Pre users everywhere.
nb
hopefully they flashforward to a time with less crybabies.
Haha, agreed!
Secconded.. Jebus...
The apps and Product placement are totally unrelated. It's like saying, "Quit it with with the product placement, I want more fries instead"
Marshall in How I Met Your Mother used one too!!!
I had the same thought as plump3... this is pure product placement...
But when I tried to access this week's closing credits bonus info using my Pre, the site said "Your phone is not supported". Whaaaa? I've accessed that site in previous weeks using the Pre, and you're telling me that Sprint isn't supporting the phone it spent so much money touting????
Anyone else have better luck?
who really cares about all these "sightings" on T.V. anyway?
Clearly some people do, please don't ruin the fun.
Pretty ironic when you think that flashforward is sponsored by blackberry/RIM
yeah but I remember seeing a big Sprint/Pre magazine ad for FF before the show debut.
Its interesting that the last 2 'sightings' that precentral has posted here, have made into PALM's Facebook postings. Apparently PALM is keeping a close eye on precentral ! :)
Urgh, double post
Ignore post, sorry guys =P
Wow it is incredible to see the first thing that comes out of alot of pre owner's mouths is something negative about the damn phone. i don't see any of you negative folk going out there and creating OSs or apps. try some creative criticism for a change will ya. viva la Pre.
I am hoping they will release some big name apps. we don't have to have as many as the iphone, but i would like to see a few. I think the guys and girl graduating from homebrew worked sooo hard they deserve kudos. but bring the on.
Check out Sci-Fi's Oct 21, 2009 airing of Ghost Hunters. At the end of the episode when both investigators are in the SUV reviewing the results of the reveal there is a PalmPre case on the arm rest and a PalmPre plugged into a car charger in the cup holder.
The second "sighting" on Lie To Me is obviously a Blackberry - you can see the RIM logo on the back in the screenshot posted...
Pre was in medium tonight. chick was texting on it at a restaurant
Saw it on Medium for sure.
I think it was on "Ghost Whisperer" too. It was used in a semi-featured role as a remote control for a security system, though the display was completely faked.
It was a bit hard to see, but the speaker bar is somewhat distinctive...
Completely agree with your statement.
I am always interested to see how they use the phone.
I noticed that to make a call they would slide it open and press several buttons on the keyboard.
Then to hang up they would side the phone closed. This demonstrates that it is the intuitive way to end a call, by sliding it closed.
Lie to me is my fav show, that and House.
I think it is pretty cool. I am proud to be an early user of such a revolutionary device. I am not as technically savvy as most of you..yet, but it is great to watch this device evolve. These Pre sightings should contribute to more users, which can only be beneficial to all of us in the long run...and all those harping on what The Pre can't do...again,yet..sit back and enjoy the ride. It's only the beginning...
Love Your Pre...PEACE!!!!
I like seeing the Pre sightings, I'd like to think I helped get this ball rolling in some small way by reporting my sighting on the colbert report.
Having the Pre, or just Palm products in general, in popular television shows or media outlets is, at least to me, a big benefit to us. Getting the product, no, OUR product that we have invested in out there will definitely stir up some new buyers and possibly tap into a newer and different market.
Bottom line, the more people that have the Pre, the more money coming into Palm(and its carriers), and the more money coming in usually means better support for the phone. So to you naysayers that do not care about the product placement, if you don't care about it, don't read the article. Don't attempt to ruin it for the rest of us who actually care about the future of Palm.
I know that last bit may be a stretch, linking product placement to the future of a company, but that's just how these eyes see it.
It's strange to read the backlash on this blog about the PRE sightings. It just amazes me. For me it's great. I love the phone, I love what it does and want to read success stories about the phone. Why? Well with hopes that it will become a large enough to stick around.
For the rest of you complainers, my tip for you. Skip the article, go to the next one and ignore these updates. It's what I do when it is a topic that I do not like. You'll be much better off, and maybe you will find some peace in you life.
HAHAHAH wait until all these people see the Palm on their tv shows.. then they actually go BUY one... install a few apps.. and then get a message that there is not enough memory for apps. Palm Pre --- the only smartphone in HISTORY rendered a BRICK by its own manufacturer right out of the box for being used exactly as it is supposed to be used. HAHAHAHAHA..... Apple turns your iPhone into a brick for doing stuff they don't want you to do. PALM turns your phone into a brick for doing stuff you are supposed to do with it.
Got a new one... Sponsorship deal this time:
Palm Pre sponsors "The Prisoner"(the original) on IFC this Friday. I did some quick poking around, and apparently Palm is sponsoring a remake of "The Prisoner" coming soon (I think they said AMC but I'm not sure.)
Palm is also somehow involved in the comic book.
Well I hope this is some kind of subliminal message from Palm that by April 29 2010, WebOS will fully support Flash!
Lie to Me is really wonderful series. I love to see it with my cousin. We both like to Watch TV Shows Online. He has sent me nice source to get both Flash Forward and Lie to Me TV Shows.
