Palm Sightings: Heroes (again) and So You Think You Can Dance 22
Well, there it is again, the Palm Pre in the hands of yet another hero. And this guy has picked up a Pre that does something we can't do: close the slider to hang up the phone. That, or doesn't realize that closing the slider doesn't end the call and he's left the police on the line. And who wants to bet that the stubby dude hacked into Palm's servers to find the phone's location?
The Pre was also spotted on So You Think You Can Dance? in the hands of deposed dancer Ryan. After being voted off the show, Ryan went back stage and called home on his Pre to give the bad news, even showcasing the speakerphone on national television. The Palm Pre, there for all of life's moments. But… we can't seem to find any video of this harrowing reality TV moment, so if you know where we can find So You Think You Can Dance? online (legally), please let us know!
Have you spotted the Pre, Pixi, or other Palm device on your favorite show? Drop us a note at pretips@precentral.net with the show and a few relevant details like air date, time in the episode, and an online video link if you've got one!
UPDATE: Jaie1980 has hooked us up with the So you You Think You Can Dance? video, check it out after the break!
Thanks to Ben for the Heroes heads up, and Cliff for SYTYCD!

Sweet capture
Wow, he got jacked for his Pre! And I love how he "ended" the call by closing the phone. LOL.
anybody know the email address for precentral people other than the contact link?
Not trying to be funny here, but the contact link gives you options for subject matter, all of the cats at precentral are good about replying in a timely fashion, and their reply to address of course is in their email to you.
I would assume though that it's easier for THEM and for you to just use the contact page... you're going to get the same result and I'm sure they set it up that way for a reason.
Just my 2 cents.
well the thing is.. i need to send a picture attachment because my phone says att where it should say sprint.. i don't know why.. no themes installed
I am a big fan of "24" and if you have seen the show Sprint is advertised a lot. I guarantee you that come January when the new season starts Jack Bauer will definitely have a PRE in hand.
nothing heroic about sliding to end the phone....if you have a 1st gen Pre! A good hard slide kills not only the phone call but is a built-in reset button.
anybody know precentral email address aside from contact link?
That is the email. You send an email to there and we'll forward it to the relevant parties.
I'm pretty sure it was on Sanctuary tonight (Syfy Channel). It was about midway through, some doctor was performing a procedure, she turned on what might have been Pandora, and played Fur Elise.
Poor Ryan. He deserved better in the competition, but at least he has a Pre now.
lol i was watching the heroes episode and commented to my wife that closing the pre doesn't end the call. :)
It was also in FlashForward when the oriental lady called to say when the dude dies.
Yeah, Flashforward showed the main boss-man talking on an open Pre.
True, but I often pull that maneuver at the end of a call. Since sliding the phone open will answer a call, I often have the phone open during a call. Then, I'll just slide my Pre closed, and IF the other party hangs up, you'll see that the call has ended. No need to press the END button. The same obviously applies if the phone is already closed, but sliding the phone closed just feels better than doing nothing. So, although what they did on TV is not functional, it's completely plausible. Again, I do it all the time.
LOL I dont know who noticed but when hes on hold you can see the keyboard. Witch means he did not dial a number. That explains y he was able to end the call by slide. Funny.
i noticed this on heroes monday night...im a big fan of the show(hayden too) and they have used palm devices on there A LOT. last season they all had centros. claire bear had a green one i do believe. i thought it was cool to see the phone on the show because i had a centro then as well lol.
CSI NY - Detective Mac Taylor on his first call of the Wed 10/14 show used none other than the Palm Pre. Nice shot of the mirror on the back of the phone. I'll have to go back and watch the scene on Hulu to catch it and see why he had to open it...
Although not necessary, he opened the phone before he answered it. I'm assuming just to make the phone distinguishable in the scene. You can find it around the 4:07 mark in the following episode:
