Palm Summer Tour hits Philly for Memorial day weekend 44
If you're in the Philadelphia area this weekend and looking for something to do, you could do worse than hunting down the Palm team for some free swag and a chance to hobnob with your fellow webOS lovers. The Smart-car-driving team just finished their run at Independence Hall and are headed to South Street until 6pm. Tomorrow and Monday they'll be continuing their tour of the city at various hot spots, so hit up Palm's Facebook page for more info. They're also giving away ten Palm Pre Plus phones every day, so yeah, could definitely be worth the trip.

Great idea and looks like the Palm team is having fun. The Smart car draws attention and the logo catches the eye especially for the young adult target audience. (just hope they don't get in a accident in those little cars!) Wonder if they are Palm employees or just random temps hired for the occasion?
They could be temps, but I am not sure... The smart cars I saw today had NJ, PA, and CT plates on them, so they have to be from somewhere local. But then again, I don't think Palm has remote offices across the country. If palm did indeed own the smart cars, and they were company cars, they should have CA plates.

ill second that...i went to my first game at TargetField yesterday and wow...amazing urban park..that is the first time ive actually seen pre's in the wild... PALM come to Minneapolis please... we need a good showing of what ur phones can do and who u are...

Yeah, I met up with them on South Street yesterday on my way home from work. Got me an extra leather case for the Pre and two Palm chapsticks aka Palm Balm. They had a couple cute chics I wouldnt have mind taking with me too!

Palm let me down today. They were schedule for multiple locations today and it was a no show for the 5K run and Boathouse row. I probably sacrificed about 4 hours trying to find them at their scheduled locations and no sign of them. If todays events were cancelled, why didn't they update the FB site saying so? It ended up being a dedicated group of Palm fans standing around like a bunch of dopes for nothing. Simply bad communication and shame on them for not honoring their complete schedule.
For you members wanting Palm to come to your city, I hope you get the chance to see them but be prepared for them not to show up even though they scheduled a location/time and do not update the FB site.

After picking up a touchstone kit at Radio Shack for $16, I tried to find the Palm team near the Gallery. Then, I saw two of their cars drive by me. So, I walked to LOVE Park (their next stop). I hung out there for a little while and they showed up earlier than scheduled. I spoke to multiple Palm people and I learned that they worked for a marketing company in N.Y.C. Clearly, these kids aren't employees of Palm and were merely hired to promote the phone. This is probably why they altered their schedule so much. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to meet them and get some stuff. It was pretty cool. Hopefully they'll be back when new hardware hits the market.
I too waited in vain around boathouse row. I asked a vendor if he saw anything and he said no. I hated to waste the time walking around there and not seeing them. I wish they had twittered their locations. HP sales people won't like that stuff.
Is Palm trying to imply their phones are underpowered and dangerous?? ;)
