This sounds consistent with what HP has done in the past. Look at the HP Slate. HP produced a small number of the device and subsequently after launch announced that the demand was the twice the number of devices produced. Smart move giving the impression that there's a high demand for the Slate. HP isn't wasting money trying to hype the Slate since they have a better tablet / pad coming down the pipeline. They stopped hyping it months ago.
