PalmCast Episode 78 9

by Dieter Bohn Thu, 08 Oct 2009 10:34 am EDT

Join Dieter, Derek, and Keith as they discuss paid apps, open development, webos 1.2.1, and more. Special 'bonus' for the people who haven't had a chance to join us for the Live show on Tuesday evenings: this week's podcast is a 'rough cut' of the live show, hardly edited. Since we figured better to release it rough on Thursday than pristine on Sunday (we're at CTIA this week), you'll get that 'hearing it live' feeling when you hear the dropped Skype call.

Thanks to everybody for writing and calling in!

Hmmm, I can't download this episode with Dr Podder today...It just has an error message. Anyone else having problems?

Came down fine for my with DrPodder.

Same. No error message, just stuck in "connecting" mode on drPodder. All other previous podcasts load fine, so it appears to be a problem with this latest episode only.

Audio on the website works. Don't know why drPodder won't load this latest Episode 78.

*** Never mind *** Like others, refreshing drPodder was all it took. Thanks! Off to listen.

I am. Using Kinoma on 700p and it always works. I think it is posted wrong somehow.

I need some help from anybody. I just recently installed Preware and everything was working great(installing patches, themes, and apps), until I installed the message notification patch. I didn't like it so I removed it(restarted Pre of course)but for some reason it was still playing the ringer I used when I had the patch installed, then it got worse, the notification ringer wouldn't play at all(sms messages, emails). So after 2 restarts I was forced to do a partial erase, after it rebooted, the theme, and other patches I had installed were still on my Pre(Shouldn't they have been removed?). So I reinstalled Preware but now I don't have the option to select "available patches" and my installed patches aren't listed either, even when I try to view them through WebOSQuickInstall. Can anybody help me solve this problem? Do you think WebOSDoctor is necessary? Thank You!

the feed was borked. It is now less borked. Sorry everybody, try it again :(

Nope, still dead...Come on Dieter, I need my weekly fix! =D

EDIT: Nevermind, it's working now! I just had to refresh Dr Podder. Thank you!

I like them like the live.. too bad it doesn't have video too :( Live shows are more fun.

Aaaahh PodCast !
Nasty to hear the build quality of the pre is giving problems.
Hopefuly that all gets ironed out with the later releases.

Is the build of the Pixie Better ?

i am still in two minds over the Pre or Pixie....will one handed use like texting be easier with a pixie ? Moving from Treo 680 to Centro i realy missed the keybd of my 680 which always felt good to type, centro just too small.

Offical note for South Africa GSM release is delayed till the Festive Season...sucks
I will need help getting my hands on a GSM Pre SOON !

Peace
