PalmCast Live tonight, 9PM 9
That's right folks, another extended hiatus ends tonight, with the return of PalmCast Live. We're pushing things back an hour to 9PM and joining Derek and Tim will be Rene Ritchie of TiPb. Why Rene? He's not here to give the iPhone pitch to a bunch of future-weary webOS fans, no, he's going to be setting us up to do it all in video style. Yeah, that's right. In addition to recording audio, we're going to have after-the-fact video available, with all of our gaffes laid out in audio-visual form for all to see.
As is typical of the PalmCast, we'll be taking your questions via the Twitters - just include the #palmcast hashtag with your Tweet and we'll do our best to provide a relevant answer directly to you (and the rest of the internet).
So tune in tonight at 9PM Eastern (6PM Pacific, 1AM UTC (sorry)) for the latest edition of PalmCast Live!

for those that missed it, you can dl it at...
Can't believe they didn't mention Smart Office, which is one of the biggest developments in webOS-land in the past year! I downloaded it hours before the Palmcast...
Yes. A bit odd, since Derek did the front page article.
bobatpitt, where did you dowload slart office from? 'cause I can't find in the app store...
It's in the app catalog under "New". HP just released a bunch of stuff after it, so you have to scroll a bit to find it. (It's not available for the phones yet, according to the Picsel UK Twitter feed.) I just checked - it's still there... :)
By the way, HP didn't put it under their "Recommended" section. The ship is drifting without a captain?
I think we are in for monthly Palmcasts without much information except for rumors and departures from the webOS team. HP simply has no reason to make any more definitive statements on the future of webOS. They already announced that they are not making the hardware anymore. What else is to be gained by committing themselves to any particular course of action with webOS? They aren't going to energize developers with any announcements - they already did that in February and burned that bridge.
Announcing that they are shutting down webOS would just highlight the failure. Better to just let it sit there iPAQ-style for years on end just in case they find a buyer at some point. That means that this is the way that it is.
Agree. Except for apps from the diehard developers (e.g., Glimpse, Incredible!, WebOS Internals stuff), I expect Smart Office to be the last big app to come from "outside" developers. Sad. But what a way to end it! Smart Office is impressive; I just hope Picsel fixes some of the bugs we've found...
It would be great to have more heads up that the PalmCast is going to be on.
When it was weekly it was part of my routine. But now, I don't plan on it happening, so by the time I find out, I miss it. :(
Also, why are they so few and far between now days?
There is still lots of stuff going on. There are new apps out every other day. So at the very least we could be having app reviews even if there isn't much on the hardware side of things going on right now.
