Paste into Universal Search 17

While Universal Search is a simple, yet powerful feature of webOS, have you ever noticed that you often can't Copy then Paste a search result into Universal Search? You try to perform a paste using a Meta-tap V (press and holding the gesture area while pressing the V on the keyboard) and nothing happens. There seems to be a bug that often prevents this from happening, but there is an extrodinary easy fix for this. While in card view or in your launcher, just press any key to start a universal search and then press the backspace key (
) to erase the results. Once the screen clears that search, try to do a Meta-tap V again to paste in the search term and it should work.

Or if we ever get webos 2.0, you can just tap the 'Just type' and then paste..
That's a great tip, but to get the token/text to paste, I'd like as easy a way to cut/copy from Web pages, articles such as this one. But you need to be able to do a limited 'mark' of the token.
does not work here lol , whenever i backspace the text bar disappears lol to funny !!
right... that is what i described. once the search field goes away, THEN try to Meta+V and the search will just appear
You can also just bring up the launcher and then meta tap + V

You also can't copy out of Universal Search. For example if you type "history of kings in scotland" and your Pre says "Sorry, too many cards", it leaves the Universal Search screen up, but you can't copy out that text. Instead you have to cancel the search, close some apps and then retype it.
Do you overclock? I have not gotten a single TMC error since installing Uberkernal and Govnah in August, 2010.
You can just meta tap + V, no need to bring up the launcher or anything else.
This does not ALWAYS work...there are times when the OS blocks the paste from happening, hence the tip above.
Doesn't work for me. In card mode I type a character and search comes up. When I hit the back arrow, it goes away. No chance to paste. Could it be the side effect of a patch? I have a lot ofpatches.

I was able to meta+v from card view and have universal search pop up......bizaar!! Now if only the PDF app worked.......

the secret to using the geture pad+v is after you paste, slide you finger off the geture pad to the right rather than just lifting up your finger. lifting up your finger triggers the funciton that minmizes a card, which for universal serach makes it just dissappear. but if you slide your finger off the geture pad it will stay, thus causing geturepad + v to work.
