Pre and Pixi Plus lovers: Verizon wants your email address 38
Faithful reader akitayo points out that Verizon now has a sign up page where you can punch in your email and register your hopeful anticipation for the Palm Pre Plus or Palm Pixi Plus on their network. Thus far, it looks like you're trading your precious email address for the promise of more information, though said information is not forthcoming as of yet. They're especially curious to know if you're a current Verizon customer or a potential switcher. We'd like to know what the prices are going to be, natch, but big V is keeping mum.
If you're looking for the actual information on the Palm Pre Plus, check out our initial hands-on impressions, video demo, and the details on webOS 1.4. If you're a Verizon customer wondering what all the fuss is about to begin with, our original Palm Pre Review and Guide isn't a bad place to start.
Thanks akitayo!

pshh who cares
you sprint haters including yourself sir are all morons & whining little sissies. Accept the fact that Verizon gets the pre & improves it.
Hey go easy guys. Sheesh. I remember giving my email to Sprint so they could notify me about the Pre's release... of course it did no good because I was there on launch day to scoop mine up!
Yeah, but on Sprint we had to wait many months and had no idea when the release date would be...
Plus, it was the first time the phone was released anywhere
for a phone that's supposed be out in like a week....shouldn't they tell folks the price?
I care. i have been waiting a good year for the release of this phone on Verizon. now if only they could fix that battery problem!
Yeah 10 4 on the waiting a year thing! But I think the battery problem is well on its way to being solved, no?
Yes, the battery problem has been fixed. And w/ the release of update 1.4.0, it will be improved even more.
No one gives a fuck about Verizon. It's gonna all be about Pr? 2 and iPhone 4G on Sprint in July.
Hey, that's offensive. And some of us use VZW. Open platforms aren't cool if you can only run them on one network.
I agree man. Its cool that the Pre got a bump on memory, flash and ram, but its no big deal. Not gonna make me feel like I need to pursue a relationship with Verizon. Like you said, by the this summer when Palm drops a new handset on Sprint, Verizon will be waiting once more...
sure its going to be about the palm pre 2 in july (maybe) but until then i guess were going to have to endure your envious wining about how u just cant take the fact that their is something better than ur precious phone.
Verizon is not the largest cell phone network for nothing! They offer great coverage and have a huge following of business clients. I am one of a large group of users who have waited 6 months for WobOS to come to Verizon. Sure they are expensive, but they offer good customer service and dependability for the money. Don
Guys, can we end the network bickering here please? We're all in the same webOS boat. Let's not get into a shoving match about which network is better, eh? I'm really not looking forward to having to listen to Verizon vs Sprint rants for the next 6 months.
Sprint rocks for me. Others like Verizon. To each his own, but let's remember that we're all here for the same reason.
notyetpre- not to get in a bickering match but you're obviously not in CA. I have Vzw at work (12 years) and their coverage is crap! I had AT&T which FOR ME was better than vzw but Sprint hands down beats them both w/o question! I switched when the Pre came out and wish I would have been with them all this time. No one can touch their prices, CS or coverage. The worst part about VZW is their crippling of their hardwate and lack of updates (I've had my BB tour and STILL no OS 5.0 from vzw). To each their own but practice what tou preach, you haven't had Sprint so don't knock their superior network till you try it! And yes I CAN knock cuz I've been there, done that!

Hey, not-yet-pre...not sure what you're talkin' about. Maybe you shouldn't knock it before you try it. Verizon customer service is horrid, their coverage is not much better than Sprint's. In fact I've been with Sprint 8 years and haven't looked back. Their coverage far exceeds Verizon's in my book. They're plans are way more affordablr and include more features. In fact, just yesterday they knocked $70 off my bill just for being a loyal customer (apparently a holiday gift for all "Sprint Premiere Customers"). Verizon customers should do their homework a bit more.
hahaha...." WobOS...." eehhh.. foget' about'it....
Pre Plus/Pixi Plus. Not much better...better, but nothin altogether special. (Only exception...WiFi on Pixi...that's cool)
can't wait for the pixi plus GSM to be sold here in Europe. Does anyone knows something about this? Perhaps that new french company will have them.
What do you bet Verizon's ads will actually talk about what the Pre can do?
agreed. I love sprint and I wished the pre would have florished on sprint like the Iphone on at&t, but it didn't so I'm looking forward to Verizon using they're massive advertising budget to push the pre into as many people's hands as possible, and in turn getting us some kick ass apps.
Well,i'm happy with sprint.I like my service,I live in the city, my cell strength signal is full bars & very speedy.Sprint is very good, where I am.Good 3G! Hey people, NEED FOR SPEED has just been UPDATE. Checkout,ur update section in the catalog.
Where can I get this wallpaper? AHHH I want it
Verizon?
what's with the deuche who keeps posting Sprint iPhone 4g crap?
detroitkruk
I like the ad. Short and sweet with enough to make the average Joe curious. Plus, it differentiates Verizon from Sprint which Verizon should be doing. Most importantly, it attacks one of the biggest problems facing Palm right now - Mind Share. While WebOS 1.4 is EXTREMELY impressive (WebOS + Flash..so much better than the iPhone), the buzz has worn off. Verizon appears to recognize this, and the ad suggests that Verizon will focus on making the average consumer recognize the Pre & Pixi as being truly special. Let's hope that rings true. The best phone/OS on the market needs to get into more hands !
+1, +1, and +1.
And you have to admit. Seeing new advertising for the pre and the pixi is exciting in itself. I've been hoping that Verizon is going to throw some of its weight into pushing the pre like they did with the droid. That's how you increase mindshare, which increases sales, which increases Palm's capital, which increases their ability to produce new and better handsets and fine tune their platform, which finally leads to more webOS devices that I can choose from. I guess you could call me selfish, but I want Palm to succeed if only so I can continue to use webOS on more advanced hardware well into the future. At this point, I can't see myself ever using or wanting to use anything else
I agree, whole heartedly. Was a loyal Samsung fan, but now...I don't plan on ever leaving WebOS/Palm. God, I love this phone!!
So. I really want that wallpaper. Am I the only one?
I bet Palm thinks you have to buy a new phone and sign a 24 month contract to get it :-)
The ONLY thing that Im going to say here is to comment about the weeks of advertising that Verizon did for the Droid, prior to thier launch. They put a ton of money into that phone, and it sold like, what? 1 mil phones in the first 2 weeks?
So, here we are, 10 days away from the launch on Verizon, and, natta in terms of marketting the TWO WebOS phones - sorry folks, but, Im afraid this is going to be just another
"feature phone" for Verizon - some minor advertising and a tiny launch party and then the phone will be left to itself to sell.
According to that article previously, the inventory showed only 200,000 Pre+ and 200,000 Pixi+'s ordered by Verizon. If legitimate, that is indicative of the kind of marketting effort they will put behind the phones - if demand is higher, then they might see reason to invest more into marketting it; if not, its just another phone you can buy from them.
The ONLY advantage to Verizon for Palm is the "potential" for their huge customer base to upgrade to a WebOS device - thats a lot of "potential", but 400,000 phones, even in the first month alone, isn't even close to the.... what?.. 60mil Verizon customer potential, or the Droid 1mil phone sale in 2 week performance last fall.
Can anyone say "unlocked GSM" please? Expose the WebOS devices to the 2.5 billion GSM worldwide users, make it affordable (meaning, make a little less on the sales price, and make it up in volume) and enjoy the ride, Palm!
:)
HA, I'm in the DC metro area and I heard a Commercial this morning at like 5:15am about the Palm Pre and Pixi release date for 25th Commercial from Verizon. I was flicking through stations on the way to work. Oh well I'm not switching from Sprint to Verizon they cost way too much in thier service packages. Sprint is the way to go.
I will be switching from ATT to Verizon so that I can get a Pre Plus. In New England, Vz offers the best wireless coverage.
Now, what should the commercial look like? Hmmm...
How about this...
A fair young lady with her hair pulled back tightly...turns slowly around with a peculiar smile on her face...sort of like the Mona Lisa...only...scarier.
She lifts up a new Verizon branded Palm Pre+ and starts to say..."you know how it is when you wait for the phone you want...and it seems like forever...but then you realize time is a transient thing...bing...bing...bing...and then the traffic lights change and...as you start to drive off [getting animated now...I know, hard to imagine, but just go with it] a juggler gets in your way AND YOU FLOOR IT! SCATTERING JUGGLING BALLS ALL OVER THE ROAD!? [tightly pulled back hair explodes into a wirey, smokey frizz and her eyes turn red...then a robot arm reaches in from the side and steals the Pre+...after a moment arm returns and hands girl a Motorola DROID...and we hear offscreen a mechanical voice say] ...PRE? [and then, like Homer Simpson's 'donut']PREEEEEEEEeeeeeeee
OK, so it's just an idea...
There was a full page add in the WSJ today for the Pre+ and Pixi+ on Verizon. It was nice to see.
Is this new? The disclaimer on the Verizon Pre ads has now raised the ETF... Up to $175 early termination fee ($350 for advanced devices)". I'm guessing that the Pre... or any Smartphone is an advanced device. Verizon... they get more appealing every day =)
