Pre drops to $49.95 in Canada 21

Canadians, if you thought the $30 Pixi offered for pre-order by Walmart here in the US was a good deal, hold on to your hats: Bell customers can now get their hands on the Pre for a tidy sum of $49.95 from Canadian reseller WirelessWave on one of those cruel 3 year contracts. But hey, it's still $50 less than you'll have to pay to Bell, so that's worth something, eh?

To think I paid $200! After a $100 mail in rebate...
So you're saying you paid $300.00. There is no such thing as an "after rebate" price. The only price that counts is the one matching the amount of money leaving your bank account to obtain the item.
I don't get their tagline, 'Nothing can follow Pre'. 'Pre' basically means 'prior to' or 'before'... so isn't their tagline exactly the opposite of what it should be? I mean, really, EVERYTHING follows Pre. How about 'Nothing comes before Pre'? Wouldn't that make more sense?
Maybe I'm overthinking. :D But I think it's a silly slogan.

You may be overthinking, but clearly they didn't think much about it at all.
Was just wondering the same thing. Great Kevins think alike.
Heh, that's the point. Everything follows 'pre', but nothing exceeds THIS Pre.
Heh, my first thought was "If nothing follows it then it must be in last place".
Talk about the completely wrong choice of words to use!
But on the plus side, there's no sign of that spooky lady...
Wow, this ranks right up there with trying to sell the Chevy Nova in Mexico.
Nothing follows a Pre means its the end of the line and thus the $49.95 price tag, pretty soon we'll be able to get them out of gumball machines.
Except this attempt at marketing isn't an urban legend. ;)
so how long until the pixi is free with a 2 year contract?
Hopefully by the Verizon launch in January.
At this discounting rate they will be offering rebates just to take the thing. Free, its 4 me, i'll take 3.
Arg.... makes me so upset that I paid $150 CAN when it came out... if I had waited for just 3 months I would have got it cheaper, and likely a better build too...
Oh well, this just cheapens them even more, and hopefully allows them to be purchased off contract for cheaper :)
I think the issue is Bell has never really been known as the provider with the 'phone savvy' user base. Most Bell customers are older types, who have thier cell phone to compliment thier home phone and internet. There are likely less power users on bell, compared to Rogers. The Pre is a power users phone, so it is likely that they aren't selling as well as if they had of been on Rogers.
The Pre is free with a two year contract in the UK.
DAMN! Come on sprint, I don't want to have to move to canada!
You'd move to Canada just to save $200 on a smartphone?
They also have universal healthcare...
3 year contract though.
The phone costs less than the extended battery. Something seems wrong. Bring down the battery price now :x
BWAHAHAHA... that's hilarious.
I got mine free with a 3 year contract with Bell Mobility in Feb.2010 during the winter olympic games promotion.
Of course here I am almost 12 months to the day and the battery is now shite and the launcher has slowed right down and is choppy.
I loved the phone for the first 11 months but now its becoming a bit "buggy", almost functions like a computer with a spyware infestation.
I think I might pay to opt. out of the contract early and upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy Vibrant S.
I just feel that right now Android is offering the best selection of apps, and the face time is a pretty cool function too. There is always an alternative to an I-Phone!!
