Pre nowhere to be found in next week's Best Buy circulars 10
Well, the Pre lands in less than two weeks and companies like Best Buy get started on printing things like their weekly advertising circulars early. Everything Pre got their hands onto next Sunday’s Best Buy circular, set to land in newspapers and big blue stores on Sunday, May 31st for the following week’s sales. And nowhere in there is the Palm Pre. They’ve got Sprint’s LG Rumor 2 and the Palm Treo Pro on AT&T, but nothing on the Pre. But, with rumors about the super-thin supply of Pre phones at Best Buy Mobile locations (supposedly as low as four per store), why advertise it when you’ll sell out regardless?

The Pre is only being sold at BB Mobile, not the normal BB store. Therefore, how could they put it in the newspaper circulars?
They advertise Best Buy Mobile in the Best Buy circulars. Page 14.
BB mobile is IN the BB stores. That's why they do have a Cellphone section in their flyers
It's seems fairly obvious that it's because of the lack of inventory. BB is better off spending their money advertising something that's in stock and in supply.
Since the release date announcement came just a week ago, there's a decent chance it was too late to include in the May 31 circ.
They do take advance time to print and ship.
Next week may be the charm.
They have it in their cell phone buyer's guide with the launch date and they have the launch date posted with a sign in the store.
I went and visited a group of friends at a large Best Buy in Central California where I used to work, and they said that all but one location locally here have completely dropped Sprint altogether and have chosen to carry T-Mobile instead. They said that none of the stores in Central California will be carrying the Palm Pre until it comes out as a GSM model. Kinda discouraging since I was going to go with the Best Buy route for a Pre...
The fact that it's not in this weekend's circular is meaningless. BB doesn't advertise things it can't sell. The last thing BB wants is a bunch of people banging on the door on May 31st looking for one. If it's not in the FOLLOWING week's circular, that might mean something.
My friend is a manager for a Sprint Store here in Los Angeles and he told me Best Buy will not carry the Pre at launch. I was surprised but he was positive after a conference call with Sprint.
They may not have posted anything in their circular but they have a full page ad in the June 2009 Best Buy Mobile ad.
