Pre-nuptials: Developer of Foursquare for webOS proposes via webOS 24
Geoff Gauchet, aka Zhephree, is not only the developer of the Foursquare app for webOS, he’s now happily engaged to be married. What makes this a PreCentral story is how he proposed to his now-fiancee Rhea: via Foursquare on webOS. According to Geoff’s blog, he had been planning the proposal for awhile, but wanted to give it a special “non-traditional, nerdy” twist. Knowing how addicted Rhea is as well to Foursquare, Geoff worked with Naveen and Harry at Foursquare to create a special tip for the Natchez Steamboat on the Mississippi River, which the couple was planning on visiting, and to trigger the tip just before they arrived at the venue. With Geoff on his Pre, and Rhea on her Pixi, they got to the ship, he casually reminded her to check-in, and by the time she looked up from her screen, he was ready with the ring.
Congratulations to Geoff and Rhea, and may they have many more years of happy check-ins together!

Congratulations! I hope other blogs pick the story up as well.
I hope having something in common leads you further and more happily than my engagement did. Congrats.
Wow, way to inject some negative energy into the story.
I didn't intend for it to be negative, I was observing that they have a good common interest, which is always a bonus when building a life with someone.
Congrats! Nice story
Congrats on wedOS..er..webOS
that would make a good palm commercial, relationships move fast - don't miss a thing.. Or carrier commercial, more engagements in more areas
Whenever I read about proposals, it reminds me of how my proposal to my wife completely sucked:
Me: (out of the blue) Hey, you wanna marry me?
Her: Um... no
Several weeks later, after I'd gotten used to the idea that we weren't going to get married:
Her: Ok, well I guess we should start planning the wedding then
Me: (thinking) Oh sh*t!
Me: (out loud) Uhmm... ok
We've been married for 16 years, so despite the super un-romatic proposal, it's worked out. Still I wish I could go back and plan a better proposal.
propose again! There is no rule saying that it's not allowed. You don't have to have another wedding or anything like that, jus plan something special and pop the question again!
Nailed the nerdy, alright!
P.S. Congratulations to the happy couple.
Congrats to the both of you!
Thanks everybody! It took a lot of coordination to pull it off, but luckily it worked! One thing I should've added in my blog: without webOS, it wouldn't have worked since I needed my browser and Foursquare open at the same time. Multitasking is a beautiful thing.
A beautiful thing indeed! Congratulations!
There's almost certainly a joke to be made here about the 'ring' paradigm used for task security in many modern computers... but I'm not going to be the one to make it. Instead, I'll just say that this was adorably dorky (adorkable?), and wish you both congratulations. :)

We older school geeks might well suggest that he gave her more than a Token Ring. :) {Jonathan}
