Pre Plus and Pixi Plus getting SFR sneak preview April 27th. Launch soon thereafter? 32

Prefrog sends word that French publicist and man-about-town Laurent Guyot has tweeted out that the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus will premiere on SFR France on April 27th. Les mobiles makes it clear that what he's referring to is some sort of 'sneak preview.' Whether that means there will just be a rocking party or actual device availability is unclear - remember that SFR's Pre giveaway ends on May 31st, a significantly more depressing time window.
Also unclear: the pricing. However a recent SFR survey seemed to peg the Pre Plus at €99.00 and the Pixi Plus at €49.00.
Thanks, prefrog!

...seriously...
why are we still touting these same old devices? Is it because they're coming to new carriers? Is it because we hope that they have had some revisions made to them? The truth is, these are the same old Palm Pixi & Palm Pre albeit with more memory, other than that NOTHING has changed from the Verizon versions of these phones. I honestly could care less about which carriers they're coming to, because in all reality it has meant NOTHING in terms of new hardware, more stable software or a better selection of applications in the catalog.
I appreciate you posting the news on this site, and I understand that you must do so for every news bit, big & small, but really...if we have to see every single carrier that the Pixi Plus and Pre Plus go to then the news will just be cluttered.
Palm, if you're reading this...focus on your priorities! Push out a new, updated device that is built properly and has the "wow" factor that you need to win this race. You need to do this very soon or most of your current fans will jump ship to bigger, better built devices. Second you need to open this phone up for new apps to evolve, quit locking down the microphone already. If you want people to flock, then they need to know that they're coming to a device that can give them what they want. Your OS may provide nice colors and the UI may be simple but your build quality is crap, your app catalog lacking and every single time you release an update things fail to work properly afterwards.
So Palm, it's time to man up or give up. Especially you Jon Rubenstein, quit jerking off already and make Palm rise from the ashes already, right now youre just dripping water on a roaring campfire of discontent. If you can't do it then maybe your board of directors and investors should find somebody who can! And quickly.
More phones in customers hands, as opposed to warehouses, will help get your wishes: more apps, more cash which leads to newer hardware. Even though you don't seem to want to wait for these things to happen, they are necessary steps to a stable company.
Sorry the rest of us are getting 'old devices' as you say, if Palm was to realise that outside the US there are many people who would have loved to have had their palms on a palm many months ago maybe you would have your new updated device.
However as they didn't until just recently/now and the phones were kept to the US for months and months yet failing to sell, before you start commenting about not wanting to hear about other networks/countries getting the phones blame yourselves for not having the will power to say NO to a salesman. If the phones had sold better in the US then Palm would have reason/money to release a new device.
It amazes me that people can go to a store wanting a Pre then come out with something else, the salesmen are there to advise you, not make you buy what you don't want! Do your own research or you will just get what they want you to have.
End of the day Palm need to shift stock and buy selling the 'old phones' on other networks in the US and in other countries they should make money and hopefully bring out a new device for everybody who wants to upgrade or get a new contract and also improve the software, although 1.4.1 is better than any windows phone I have been using for the past few years.
I suggest you research what you're arguing against before writing it off as outdated.
They need to get rid of their extra stock, which is currently hovering around 1 million units. Which is ALOT.
listen to how ignorant you sound. you don't even know what's going on. enjoy your device and stop complaining.
You for sure know, that there might be life outside USA and/or CDMA.
E.g., I'd be very happy to be able to by an Pre+ as soon as I'd be able to get one. So, I'm VERY interested in any news regarding Palms Europe activities.
more carriers do equal more units moved, but lets be serious here, in reality only a handful of those 1.5M units will move. The reason Palm has a stockpile of these phones is because the desire for them is NOT there. From the build quality through the marketing Palm has not only dropped the ball but they have jumped on it and deflated it afterwards.
the reason why Android has succeeded is easy to peg, they have managed to infiltrate every single carrier and every single cell phone design available. Palm needs to do the same exact thing, as many have said before. License the OS to as many avenues as possible, and maybe eventually make enough $ to design and build their own high quality device.
Doesn't look like it's gonna happen Hecho. You'll have to find a different OS to masturbate over. Too many people are trash talking the current phone sealing Palm's fate.
Nice going Hecho. You destroyed your own dream trashing the Pre. Pre-mature emasculation.
To be honest I love my Pre. It does everything I need: email, sms, mms, msn, facebook, general browsing, music the odd time, and a few useful apps. Apps, however, are of little concern to me - at least in the gaming sense. They are nice for the first time you play it and after that it just fills a slot in my launcher.
I love my Pre's form factor, I love the fact it has a touch screen AND a keyboard - something Blackberry has yet to produce (which gives Palm an edge), I love every little thing about it tbh. The only let downs are maybe battery life and speed slightly - although every update so far has made small changes to the speed. They may be small, and obviously an instant solution would be nice but it's still nice to see the OS becoming that little bit smoother slowly but surely.
As far as a new handset goes I don't really care that much. I'd rather see the speed and battery life cured, along with some useful apps - skype, doc editing etc. A new handset will give Palm a new form, but the same issues - apart from maybe a wiggling slider..
Can't wait for the Pixi to hit the Europe though. I'm hoping they jump a bit quicker off the shelf than the Pre. It will, however, take a fairly priced monthly contract to achieve this. Sorry for the essay but after reading so many depressing comments I had to let some feelings out myself lol.
Facebook Beta app is unreal.
so these comments are making me giggle..
Why is this all moving so slow? come on France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Japan, China, whatever country...Australia not to forget. Why does this all take so long to get carriers on board?
It cannot be that hard to do?
I bet it is because the carriers dont think they will sell. 1 Million in warehouses still?
O2 Germany states, that the Pre is their best selling smart-phone at the moment (that was 2. of March) -- they stated in their blog.
So, Palm should rush to get into the other markets outside the US ... there also exist customers who want to spend money ...
So SFR said they are looking to put half of their customers on smart phones, that is a target of 10 million. So if they are pushing the Pre as hard as it looks is 500-1 million to high to hope for? Palm selling more phones means the company stays in business and that means more awesome webos products and I wont have to switch to andriod of an Iphone which would be even more awesome.
DO YOU ALL TRULY THINK THAT THOSE OTHER OPERATING SYSTEMS OUT THERE ARE TRULY BETTER THAN THE WEBOS OR THE PRE? AND HOW GREAT THEY WERE WHEN THE IPHONE, THE ANDROID, THE BLACKBERRY AND THE WINDOWS MOBILE OS CAME OUT? WERE THEY FLAWLESS WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT? AND IF SO, TELL ME WHICH ONES WERE THEY?
AND WHY YOU DON'T HAVE ONE TODAY?
WOAH CALM DOWN THE CAPS! lmfao. I can't tell if you're arguing with us..or agreeing :O

WebOS is a great thing, but it's still in it's infancy and it shows. Android, Symbian, WinMo, Blackberry and the iPhone OS's have all been refined over & over again. Now, saying that I will say that WebOS is the best at multitasking out there, but it has so many shortcomings sometimes that it doesn't shine like it should. Examples of this are the speed of the UI, the lack of full customization and certain applications that would propel this OS into the big leagues.
I saw this phone when it was first announced and saved and saved to buy one off contract after they dropped. Picked one up in July and loved it coming from a BlackBerry and the Samsung Instinct. But to be honest within the first two months the phone grew old, and I was frustrated with having to wait to get core features I had been used to having before. I used to be in the "Pre fan boat", but that changed when I picked up a Sprint Hero and saw all the things that Android could do. I just couldn't get used to the touch screen. So I came back to the Pre (during 1.3.5) and that was a frickin' joke!
Went back to the Hero, and still loved the features, waited til the Pre got video camera...then went back to the Pre, only to be dissapointed by my pictures being overwritten and bogged by the same issues as before.
The truth is this, you can love this company, these phones, the OS all you want, but one day Palm will falter, either through a buyout or on their own and all this that you ideolize and worship will fall from the pedestal you've placed it on. Palm is the only one who can save themselves, but if they continue to make blunder after blunder in marketing and building their phones and OS then they're as good as dead.
Palm has over a MILLION units collecting dust in a warehouse, supposing they launch on other carriers BEFORE those carriers get the new smartphone offerings from competitors, do you really think there's going to be a MILLION buyers? If you do then you're the one who is ignorant and naive. I've said it before the reason people aren't flocking to this phone is because the build quality is shit, the OS is buggy and the marketing is non-existent! Couple that with un-knowledgeable salespeople, and carriers who are hyping competing products and Palm's Pre & Pixi (Plus or not) don't stand a chance.
I hold out hope that come June Palm will have finally worked out it's issues, at least short term and will release a new, stellar high end device with an updated OS, but in my heart of hearts I know it won't happen. Time will tell though.
i'm honestly stunned that Palm Pre and Pixi in any form is still being pushed to new carriers anywhere in the world. No offense but it just doesn't seem very when weighed against some of the upcoming phones.
@Hecho I was tellin these fools tha same thing. None wants to listen. They try to defend a crumblin wall. Palm was great wen it first came out but update afta update it went to shit. Palm had tha lead wit multitaskin then Iphone came n stole tha game frm Palm SMH. We hav a bunch of spam apps that are worthless. Patches that destroys tha phone as a whole n no memory. I'm really upset at sprint due to tha fact that their one of the largest carriers but we still hav a 8GB of memory. Other carriers I haven't heard of are gettin tha 16GB wat tha FUCK.
More carriers = faster clearing of their huge inventory. This is good news for everyone. Gets webOS in more people's hands (increasing popularity and recognition) and clearing the way for new hardware for the rest of us.
I love my Pre and will continue to love it, but I'm not saying I wouldn't be thrilled to upgrade to the awesome new hardware that I know (and pray) Palm is busy working on.
If it goes as badly in France as it has in the UK and places then Palm are in trouble.
They need to license the OS and do it quick.

@dmiller The memory never really bothered me, only when it came to the "too many cards" issue. What bothers me besides what I've mentioned above is that we have to patch/Homebrew our phones just to get full functionality. It's my firm belief that Palm pushed this phone out half baked and have continued to play catch up in the world of smartphones. They have made great strides no doubt but they needed to come out with a knockout punch to begin with.
The average consumer doesn't see Palm advertised like iPhone and Android, and probably doesn't name recognize it like Blackberry and WinMo, so when they walk into their Verizon/Sprint/Bell/etc. Store and see the Pre or Pixi then there's no connection, no push from the salespeople, no nothing.
I have my issues w/ Jon Rubenstein running this company, he has brought Palm back into the fray sure enough, but does he have the testicular fortitude to take the company where it needs to go? Over and over he touts WebOS as being the end all save all of the smartphone OS market, but his guidance has also witnessed the nightmarish crash of the Pre/Pixi launches on Sprint, the lackluster performance on Verizon, not to mention the hardware deficiencies, the update issues, the crappy (and at times goofy) marketing as well as the decline of Palms stock.
That to me spells out a resounding NO! He should be replaced by someone who had a vision for this company and is not just basing their ideas on the same batch of kool aid that has been dished to consumers.
Will Palm be able to move those 1M (+/-) units? Maybe. But being a realist, those units are old news, that's like trying to market a 2008 Honda Accord as a new shiny top of the line model today, people may buy it, but not as many as if it were actually top of the line.
Maybe these extra carriers will help Palms bottom line, but not if Palm is unwilling to help themselves first!
@Hecho I agree.
