Pre: Sprint Navigation or Google Maps? Forum Members Speak! 21

Sprint Navigation by TeleNav is impressive. Sprint Navigation on the Pre is absolutely stellar, and according to mypre.com, there was no loss of signal even when in the deepest interior of the Las Vegas convention center. As you watch the video, you should notice how easy it is to use on the Pre with its touch screen and keyboard.

On a related note, our very own forum members discuss Sprint Navigation and how it compares to Google Maps. If you want turn-by-turn directions, Sprint Navigation is the way to go. But if you are just needing an address, location and contact information, Google Maps is quite adept at giving you what you need. Read what the forum members think and add your own two cents!

Included in the cost of an Everything Data plan which most likely will be required for the Pre anyway.

Yeah!!! What he said!!

WRONG. Sprint Navigation is included at no extra charge in the Simply Everything plan, and in both the Everything Data 450 and the Everything Data 900 plan.

This I could understand, though it doesn't affect me personally. However, it's not being compared to "full featured GPS programs" but instead to Google Maps... which also requires a data connection.

The GPS may or may not work outside of coverage, who knows about that. The issue we're discussing is the maps. Telenav's maps for its smartphone software download on the fly, so if you have no data signal, you have no maps.

I didn't realize Telenav even had standalone devices, but yes, it does seem that they have internal storage with all of the maps saved on there, but this is not a capability for any of their products for smartphones.

I just subscribed to Sprint Nav
(Seen here: http://blog.telenav.com/blog/2009/09/traveling-this-labor-day-use-sprint...) (or TeleNav) and was wondering if there was any cheaper GPS software?
