PreDoodle - The Birth of a Comic

We're starting a new Friday feature here at PreCentral to give you a little smile to start your weekend: the PreDoodle from Jason Harrison, whose work you may have seen before at PreDoodle.com. We're fond of the idea of cutting the cord, too, Touchstones forever!

Have a great idea for a PreDoodle? Hit us up on our contact form with the appropriate selection and Jason'll take a gander. Please help us welcome him to PreCentral!

Welcome!!! ;-)

We should open this up so the predoodle is first in the article, and other community member artwork can be listed after the link.

Things over here are too boring. Not enough excitement and news going on in Palms world in terms of gadgets. If only HP would leak something, any day now.

Sorry, they're still hung over from the merger party.

Yawn, nice post.

Awesome! and Welcome!

Freaking awesome.

I love, Love, LOVE the Touchstone. But I have a question. Will there ever be a webOS device with a compass? And if so, do we think it will still be Touchstone compatible?

Just wondering out loud (prompted by this cartoon and the fact that some have modified the EVO to use the Touchstone.

I think there's a very good chance that the magnetic field from the induction coil in the Touchstone will mess with the compass, but really, who needs to know their phone's direction when it's sitting on a charger? I think the phone should just come with a warning that indicates that the compass is unreliable when on the Touchstone. Kind of like how a Pre's GPS is unreliable when used on Verizon :)

I think the poster was worried about the magnets in the CASE for the touchstone back messing up the compass.

Yep.

Would love to see something like Layar for webOS. Maybe they'll find a way to shield the compass if that's possible.

As others in the forums have pointed out, there *are* no magnets in the phone's back cover - only in the Touchstone itself. These magnets grab hold of metal discs in the back of the phone. As a simple demonstration, go stick the front of a Touchstone to your refrigerator, and then try (without letting go!) the same thing with the back of your phone... ;)

Incredible. Can't wait to see what else comes out.

I'm not saying I was looking, but that baby phone/pda is packing some heat!

welcome Jason... ;)

Jason! He roped you in afterall! :)

how freaking cute is that?...I love it!!!!

How dare you use such language on pre|central? Sike, I guess it is pretty cute...

it isn't just the magnet in the touchstone dock that would interfere with the compass. The magnet in the phones back cover would throw the compass off too.

I seriously doubt we will see a webos phone with a compass built in, unless one is made that is not touchstone compatible

Hello all and thanks for the warm welcome!

keep up the great work!

Looks great! Looking forward to my Fridays even more now.

Why do cartoon characters always have 4 fingers instead of 5?
