I heard netflix app is not even in works, they are just asking netflix to make one.
Who cares about Netflix when the browser supports Flash? /sarcasm
LOL... Netflix doesn't use flash... they use Silverlight which is not gonna be on the Touchpad. We NEED that app! That is actually the one thing that I am waiting to hear about if it's not on there i'm not droppin that kind of money on a tablet that i can't watch my Netflix movies on. *shrugs* HP needs to do some sort of Census to see what people really Want! Netflix would w/out doubt be one of the top 10 apps ppl are expecting.. I'd venture to say top 5.
I realize it doesn't use flash, it was supposed to be a joke on excuses made for not having certain apps (like youtube, bank apps, etc) as well as a jab at "who needs netflix when you can now watch **** (via flash) on webOS?". But I guess if I have to explain it, it wasn't funny. :-(
On a more serious note, HP did "claim" they went after the "top 20%" of apps that people use all the time. They said you're just "chasing fads" when you go after the other 80%...or something like that. Somehow they feel that if I don't use a specific app every day, it's not useful.
They are forgetting about "adhoc usage". A few months ago I was redoing my back yard and needed a rough estimate on the square footage so I could run to HomeDepot for supplies. I simply downloaded an app that allowed me to stand on one side of my yard and point the phone to the other end to get the distance. Once for length and once for width and I had my measurements in seconds. I haven't needed that app since, but it was sure useful and timely when I did need it.
I've had similar situations with other apps (and physical products). But according to HP, I must have been chasing a fad. #sigh
I'd love to see Netflix and Hulu + on the TouchPad ASAP. It wouldn't keep my from buying one though. We rarely use either app on my wife's iPad, but these two apps would help encourage many to consider the TouchPad.
Best thing to do is to keep supporting webOS if we want to get the amazing apps that other platforms have.
As long as they keep geo restrictions in place, and don't get alot more devices out there I fear this is what it's going to be like.

LOL, Android has flashlight apps too!!
BUT, you can multitask 50+ flashlight apps on a Pre 2, you can only run one at a time on an Android device!!!
