Yea, they were promised Porridge & got nothing.

Off topic, does anyone know why my rss feed for precentral keep saying that these old articles are new ones. All my other rss feeds don't do that to me. Just Precentral.

This is absolutely brilliant. Great work, keep it up. :)

Hilarious

made me laugh

FUUUUNNY! Yeah I work at Sprint. Got the Pre for free under the advocate program. I remember hearing "video before the end of '09, flash by the end of '10, and 2.0 update in '11. And still with a small amount of pride I defend WebOS to my co-workers who have Evo's and Epic's. It's getting harder everyday. :(

Best one yet...

...However, Goldilocks isn't sharing her "gesture area"

ROFL! That's too funny, dude.

Thanks for the comments my faithful PreDoodle lovers!

Like...

Simply brilliant!

OK, I don't care who you are ... that's funny!!!

Best one yet !

Ah, humor - the BEST medicine!

HP says "Everybody ON...." uh except our existing customers.

Touche...

HAHA, Perfect! Best Predoodle yet.

Thanks for the chuckle - something to brighten my day after the cold shower from HPalm...

Best Predoodle ever! It made me laugh and cry at the same time. Thanks :) :(

Excellent work! Thanks for the laugh.

Always a pleasure to see these.

At least they look like they feel bad for Goldi

that's awesome.

Best PreDoodle yet.

haha love it, and honestly, by the time this summer rolls around, I'll be ready for a new phone anyway...scratch that, I've been ready. But my Pre Minus #6 has held up a whole 2.5 months now so I think I can hold out till then =)

Made it my walpaper!

I was at first concerned about the cross-dressing Pre, but I figure there were no other fairy tales that fit our situtation so well, pun intended.

May I suggest doing the reverse as the Three Little Pigs, with our hapless Pre-Wolf sliding down the chimney into a boiling pot of broken promises and lies?

Hah. Good one.

What I do not understand is why anyone who currently owns a Palm Pre (of any kind) would want to buy a Pre2 or Pre3? If HP is clearly going back on it's word regarding updates, then what guarantee do we have that they won't do it again with future products? This is not about simply being "grumpy", we have been strung along this long and now they have the gall to pull this BS? I don't care how great it is, I AM DONE WITH WEBOS PHONES. You are a sucker if you stay on board, be ready to wait and be disappointed by empty promises yet again.

It seems to me they are purposefully making "legacy" devices obsolete with the hope that it will increase sales of newer units? Or possibly to appease carriers? We all know that the Pre+ (which overclocked essentially IS a Pre2, albeit with slightly slower ram) can run webOS 2.0 just fine. Heck, even the Pre- has been witnessed running it pretty well. So what is the REAL reason were are not getting it? You wanna get to the bottom of this precentral or do you want to not "rock the boat" too much for fear of losing HP/Palm contacts?

I'm not ready to upgrade just yet, webOS 2.0 would have held me over until the Pre3 comes out. Instead I'll be using my upgrade on an Android phone. I know it's not as slick, but it will be nice to finally have access to apps that have been missing for far too long. Again webOS 2.0 was going to help that situation with it's access to more API's but not anymore.

Are they trying to make their core fans upset, it sure seems so?

dude, relax.

don;t forget, HP is turning it's back on HP products, they are leaving behind another company's underpowered outdated hardware that never really took off. Look, i love my Pre but its not like Palm sold 10 million phones that are becoming legacy hardware. just look at our forums or Android Central forums, and you'll see how many people left for other platforms. i'm one of the biggest palm fan boys there is, and I can't even make a call with my Pre, so I got an Epic to hold me over. When Pre3 comes out, I'm getting one, regardless of carrier or ETF. But I wasn't gonna get a refurb pre-. Now they Epic isn't so epic either. it lags as much as my pre, even with upgrading to froyo leak.

I'm sure HP will continue to support HP products. Besides, HP can't make every Pre+ and Pre- user overclock just to install webos 2.0. sometimes you gotta move on.

As to the Pre Doodle--it's awesome, very funny

It doesn't matter. Palm said we were getting updates, and so did HP. THE PHONES CAN HANDLE WEBOS 2.0, even the Pre- at 500Mhz (albeit a bit chuggy), period. I have no doubt in my mind that eventually my Pre+ (likely WiFi only) will be running 2.0 via the webosinternals team efforts. But they kept me hanging too long, with hardware glitch after hardware glitch. The update was WHY I was hanging on. But I cannot and will not support this company in the future. When the time comes for new hardware it will not have anything to do with Hewlett Packard or Palm. Sames goes for printers from here on out too.

There is no reason to do this other than they could give a damn about us / save a few bucks / appease carriers and push "new" phones (i.e. the Pre2).

Enjoy the Pre3, I hope you get shafted again, serves you right for continuing to support this company after the crap they just took on all of us. Why ANYONE could justify or forgive HP for this BS is beyond me. Even the "announcement" of the decision to not update older phones wasn't handled correctly, they should have had any "upgrade path" plans ready on the 9th.

They simply DO NOT CARE. F**k them, good riddens you lying asshats. Enjoy 5th place, you deserve it.

First, I understand your frustration. I was just as angry about the "no upgrade for legacy devices" as you are, but I've taken some time to think about it. Not sure it will matter to you but I'd like to point out a few things. Every major OS out there is trying to implement some of the design features that WebOS had on launch day. To date not one of them has got any of those right. That tells me something about the OS that I'm using.

Second, I am of the opinion that HPalm had every intention of giving us that have older devices 2.x, flash and all the goodies that come with it. They, at some point, realized that going forward this would detract from the future potential of the platform. Realizing that a good potion of those that own legacy devices would be upgrading soon through their carriers they decided that it would be in the platform's best interest to cut support for legacy devices and protect future potential. That's why we, the faithful few, are still here because we recognized the incredible potential of WebOS. I will agree with you that the manner in which the information was disseminated to us was not handled well (to put it nicely). I should let you know that I have no upgrade path. I am not in the US any longer and the carrier I am on does not even sell HP/palm devices. I most likely will not have a clear path to WebOS 2.x and if I want a device will have to shell out major $$. You on the other hand have an upgrade path and should really consider what it is you are giving up.

Consider this as well. Android fans have been less than impressed with the upgrade process. To say Android is fractured is an understatement. while that allowed the platform to be presented in a number of form factors and reach a vast audience, fueling the app store, it limits Google's ability to get updates out to all users in a timely and uniform fashion. I also predict that it will limit the OS overall in the future.. but that's another story.

Do I really need to get into the iPhone? If you are thinking about the iPhone or any RIM product I won't even waste my breath. They are both for sheep of different classes. The iPhone is for the general consumer that thinks that all Apple products are shiny and cool and don't care about being locked into what apple tells you to do. RIM is for business people that are slaves to their employer. There are also those that think BBM is the best thing since sliced cheese (not sure why, but I know whole communities thriving on BBM, scary).

You don't have to take anything I've said into consideration, but I just wanted to give you something to think about before you make your decision. I would hate for WebOS to take off and reach the potential we all know that it has and some of us jump ship simply because of a bruised ego and hurt feelings. If you are happy to accept a substandard experience because someone hurts your feelings then ok. I for one will just wait for a little longer and see where this is all going. I don't think HP lied. They did back down on a promise, but I'm willing to wait a bit and see how they plan to make it up to us. Once upon a time people had patience... Just my 2 cents... take it or leave it.

perfect

Awesome!!!!!!!!!

HP Please Take Note!!!

I lol'd out loud.

Another Sprint Employee here... I've also defended the Pre & WebOS till I was blue in the face, but loyalty to a vendor/product only goes so far.

I had the Pre for more than a year, and before that the 755P, and another Treo before that one, and the Palm IIIC, etc...

However, we're at a point in time (particularly in this industry) that demands new devices every year, and that's where Palm (pre HP) failed. I saw a webcast several day ago where one of the HP Exec's said no more announcing a product that wouldn't be ready for months.... In fact I’m pretty sure he said during the presentation that products would be ready within weeks, no? But from what I can tell, it's still going to be several months before the tablets are available...

So, when there was still no definite word from HP/Palm on new products back in November, I decided to go with the Evo. It is a great phone, but Android certainly isn't as "polished" as WebOS. I keep hoping that the tablet will arrive soon, and that it's on the Sprint Network. If they could also get a phone that (significantly) beats Evo spec's, I'll strongly consider jumping back on the WebOS bandwagon!

This picture says it all about this website. You depict one palm pre and 3 other devices that haven't been released nor will they be for 6 months. Maybe you should put all 6 devices up there and then show the Pre 2 alone. I suppose then it would be angry wolfs and HP/Palm as a steak.

haha! Very clever. I love it!
