Haha.. "Click Click"

Ah only if our slider was good. blackberrys is genius (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8vEeTONkSw

I can't wait to see what Hpalm as in store for us. I hope they're seeing all these new devices coming out, and giving us a phone that tops them all.

Click! Clack! .. Click! Clack! .. Click! Clack! .. Click! Clack!
...25,898...25,899...25,900...25,901

I jus wanna know if the WebOS toaster is gonna have a slider

yes it will. Once your breads are toasted, the device will slide them to your table.

I definately want one of those.... =)

who cares if there's another slider phone? do we really need a comic about it to protect someone's fragile ego?

What makes it funny is that RIM/Blackberry tries to make their new phone seem so innovative, while there is nothing there that even a launch day Palm Pre on Sprint couldn't already do.

Agree, but the design is innovative for BB. Apparently, this device was in development before the Pre was announced in 09, meaning that they didn't necessarily borrow the Pre's hardware design.

You have to admit, some of their software updates are pretty cool. Standard wifi sync? I'd take that built in.

"...in development before the Pre was announced in 09"

And we think Palm takes a long time to roll out new hardware?

Could this be true? It took them over 18 months to roll this out?

smart on their part.... showing this to corporate execs.... they wont see much difference compared to pre form... and may not see a big reason to switch over to HP new line of phones...

Weak.. but may be effective.

True, the way they played up the "OMG TOUCHSCREEN" angle of the Storm, you'd think they'd invented it.

Of course, that's Apple's business model now. Probably even patented it.

Honestly I read a lot of reviews of the Torch and was a little disappointed by the lack of nods to the Pre. Wasn't going to **** about it, but yeah... be nice to get credit where it's due.

They got a little love for the form factor and keyboard style. But stuff like RIM's attempt at network aggregation (which Synergy was first on in mainstream, I believe) and other little things were ignored. In general it seems the masses are quickly forgetting what (I think) Palm started with just Synergy alone. That doesn't sit well when you're worried about mind share = success = more quickly advancing webOS devices.

Far as the form factor goes though, **** no. The more people that wanna emulate that the better!

Click-clack, wobble-wobble, and...

Oh, Oh, Oh, ice cold milk
and an Oreo Cookie
They forever go together,
What a classic combination
When a dark, delicious cookie
meets an icy cold sensation
Like the one and only creamy,
crunchy, chocolate, O-R-E-O

ok what is this Oreo effect everyone cries about? Because honestly I have had 3 pre's (2 pandora glitch locking headphone jack up and one smashed screen... Don't bar hop in Ybor city in Tampa with a smartphone in your pocket)

none the less all 3 of my Pre's have had no slider problems.. Guess once again I'm getting "magical" Pre's that don't have that many problems.

Palm wasn't first with a vertical slider either. It's my favorite form factor for a smart phone, and I think it is a good sign that BB is using it for the Torch. I was beginning to fear that all future smart phones would be either boring slabs like iPhone or horizontal sliders like Androids.

My old nokia had it too....
My gf's Samsung and so on....
So I don't see what's the big deal about it....

i love these drawings.. lol.. you're a cool guy.. and i think everyone should lighten up.. more and more precentral members seem to be becoming very uptight.. we're all ready for a new device.. and it'll be here when it gets here.. and its either gonna be completely bad ass or its gonna be a flop.. be patient.. in the words of "steve jobs"... "there are more important things than a smartphone" lol

I miss my T3. :(

I gave mine to my borther-in-law not too long ago. He liked it a lot. You can get one on eBay for like, $40 now. Stinks cuz I paid $175 for mine four years ago.

I don't care who copies it, just as long as they keep it. Synergy would be as clunky as the iPhone if you couldn't just slide and type.

Please, palm, keep the real keyboard. Add a soft one if you like. I am not saying it is perfect. It could have bigger keys, oled displays dynamically rendering the letters, etc. But slide and type is efficiency.

I love the slider form factor. Next time I have a chance, I'm going to play with a Torch just to see how much more solid the hardware is. Maybe it will be a bit of a preview of how Pre2 will feel. One can dream!

p.s. Did anyone notice it's a Pre-minus in the doodle?

I hope the next WebOS phone is another slider, like the Pre. I just want a larger high-res screen to rival the Retina Display and faster hardware.
