PreDoodle - What Desktop Computer? 14

With all the cool accessories out for the TouchPad, it makes me want to dump the desktop!

Haha excellent... and SO true.

Yup, this is what I'm going to do.

As soon as they get Splashtop working, I can ditch my laptop and get touchpad and the BT keyboard.

JUST INCASE: Splashtop connects to a computer running a desktop OS and the splashtop "server", so hopefully you have more than just that laptop :).

BTW, Splashtop is so legit! I've been using it on my iPad for a long time (wi-fi only). Very smooth and intuitive, and could definitely replace a laptop (I mean around the house - I have no experience over 3G). The problem with the iPad's implementation of Splashtop is that it signs you out of the remote session anytime you switch apps, which means having to re-connect every time. I don't think webOS will have that issue, which is awesome! I think I'm going to be selling Patty Mayonnaise (that's my iPad) for a Touchpad in the near future. Maybe after another webOS update or two.

I know, I guess i should say I'm leaving my laptop at work, and I'll be using splashtop to connect to it.

Although ideally, I would want an RDP client so I wouldn't need to have the stupid "server" app running.

where are the legs to his computer chair?

second, the touchpad with all it accessory's costs as much as my computer. i would rather have my desktop any day

Agreed! Tablets may have their place (as do laptops, netbooks, and other portable devices), but a desktop replacement they are not.

Finally got to check out a Touchpad yesterday at a Future Shop in my hometown of North Bay (Ontario) - my second attempt. On my previous visit, the Touchpad was getting recharged or something to that effect.

On this visit, I was disappointed with the tech guys at Future Shop because:
1) they didn't really know the unit
2) while demonstrating an iPad to a customer (next to me), they shrugged off his query about the Touchpad. That is until I piped up.
3) updates were not up-to-date
4) the videos weren't loading (which may go hand in hand with updates

Speaking of "accessories out for the Touchpad", there is one that I mentioned in a previous post - padpivot.

It's a unique stand/holder that can be used on a desk, or on one's leg/knee. I'm giving a shameless plug for the unit - the inventor is a good friend - but it has great promise. HP should look into this accessory (or maybe they alr...... :-0 )

On a Howard Stern show, he mentioned how he needed to hold his iPad on his knee while he #$%@$% &**#@*@%# (think Stern and you might figure it out). Anyways, the padpivot would be an ideal product for HS. :-)

For the rest, it makes perfect sense.
.

That actually looks pretty good, considering I use my wife's galaxy tab at times and get tired of holding it. Will def want something like that for my Touchpad

Ah texting and driving....here I come!

LOL

:D

uuummmm not really. actually, not even close. can't edit or create docs and I mostly work in powerpoint and visio - so there is NO HOPE here in the near future. No video out for such presentation viewing. Can't connect to my work environment, Citrix irrelevant, VPN irrelevant as my company leverages a USB Activkey, SSL - no such luck on this device.

Also, I still use my laptop to read books as the "working" Kindle app doesn't support anything but ebooks purchased from Amazon - which is why I use the Kindle app on my pc.

Actually, I was out on some websites today looking to upgrade my personal laptop. Never thought that would happen within 30 days of owning the Touchpad.

Otherwise, neat cartoon.

**** of you **** spammer!

The IEEE Computer Society, allows usage of data as either a mass noun or plural based on author preference. Other professional organizations and style guides require that authors treat data as a plural noun. For example, the Air Force Flight Test Center specifically states that the word data is always plural, never singular. Thanks.

In most cases, computer instructions are simple: add one number to another, move some data from one location to another, send a message to some external device, etc. These instructions are read from the computer's memory and are generally carried out in the order they were given. Thanks.
