Project Macaw goes public in the webOS Nation Homebrew Gallery 15
Need proof that there are still awesome things happening in webOS? Then look no further than the newest entrant in the webOS Nation Homebrew Gallery: Project Macaw, a swanky new Twitter client for webOS smartphones and tablets based on the open source Phnx client. Buzz has been building about Macaw for some time now - enough that it was a nominee for best homebrew app in the webOS Nation Best of 2011 Awards. Macaw takes the old Phnx app, a beautiful and fully functional Twitter client in its own right, a step further into awesome territory.
Macaw works on both the TouchPad and webOS smartphones with the same IPK package, though it’s a Mojo app on both so you won’t have any of the fancy sliding panes that trademark Enyo. Both apps have taken a Carbon-style approach to life, arranging your Timeline, Mentions, Messages, Lists, and Search/Trends in a horizontal-swiping fashion. On a smartphone you get a distinctly divided feeling, with each stream taking up the whole screen, while TouchPad users of Macaw will see three independent panels at a time. It’s somewhat like Spaz HD in that respect, but presented in a much more attractive manner, as one would expect from the successor to Phnx.
Despite still be a work-in-progress, Project Macaw still strikes out a position as a fully functional and beautiful Twitter client poised to rock on both the Pre and TouchPad.

Love Project Macaw, lots of awesome features and active devs!
Thanks again for the awesome twitter app.
people like me dislike people like you who like features like project macaw has.
What?
Excellent app, I've been using Spaz up until mow, and Macaw is so much better. I'm not a huge Twitterer (you could say that I'm not a Twit!), but this is still a great app to have. Thanks!
Sweet and looks promising. Tried things out this evening and wow...liked the interface and it works pretty darn well. Reported some error that went away after refreshing data and I'm sure it is a minor glitch.
Either way, thanks and keep up the great work. Sorli...
Looks promising and thanks for the work.
Couple of suggestions.
I'm not interested in a column for mentions and messages. Would much rather use this valuable real estate to show a couple of my lists.
Although the 'Pure' theme is ok, add some that are not so dark. The look and feel of Metrotweet is wonderful.
There is nothing more exciting than another twitter client.
finally! a more intuitive client. when you enter "@" it provides you with list of people you can tweet to. you dont have to remember what their twitter names are. thank for the hard work!!!! much appreciated!
btw whats the difference between "stock browser" & "in app browser"?
"Stock browser" launches the stock browser for links, "In app browser" uses a browser that we built into the app, therefore you don't have to launch the browser to view a link.
Woohoo, yeah! Awesome! Hold your breath guys... YET ANOTHER TWITTER CLIENT!!!
If this is a "proof that there are still awesome things happening in webOS", then the situation is even worse than I thought...
Is that even a Touchpad in that screenshot?!
Looks kind of like one, but seems to be thinner and 16:9ish?
Think I see a bezel too but maybe it's a white touchpad or a case?
That is a screenshot from my Pre3 (if you are referring to the ones in Preware)
The picture above, that is one that Derek took himself.
excellent app thank you so much,
Excellent, we need another Twitter app to keep Graphite, which has quite a number of serious bugs, on its toes.
