Promo video for the Pixi Plus hits AT&T, but when does the Pixi itself hit? 14
AT&T has followed up their Palm Pre Plus promo video with another promo video for the Pixi on their official webOS "Coming Soon" page. It follows the same trend of actually showing what the phone does - we'd love to see the UI on the Pixi move as quickly as it does in the video, but we're not getting our hopes up that much despite reports that the AT&T Pre Plus seems a little faster than its CDMA cousin.
One odd thing: AT&T has not followed up their official Facebook announcement that the Palm Pre Plus is coming this Sunday, May 16th, with similar words about the Palm Pixi Plus. In fact, as everythingpre notes, there aren't "exact details to share" on that just yet.
Thanks to Akitayo for the video and Palmwebos for the tip!

Any Advertisment for Palm is a good thing.
Palm also should have done a better job at presenting their devices, after all, they ran their own commercials. One should not have expected so much from the carrier (VZ) for a device that was on multiple carriers even if it was slightly re-designed and given more memory, they were practically the same.
Verizon did more marketing for their Droid understandably because it was exclusively theirs, not on a product with an omitted button an extra 8GBs of memory and an extra 256K of RAM. Verizon money was reasonably on the Droid simply because it could not be obtain from any other carrier in the US.
I believe Palm learned a valuable lesson from their marketing flop, showoff the product and its compelling features and don
maybe Palm sees how AT&T sales staff sell the Pre and if they do a decent job comparatively with the year old phone, then AT&T gets to debut the next product or at least gets it ahead of Verizon (whose sales staff did such a poor job on the Pre/Pixi...)
I am trying to figure out why the tombstone goes on sale on the 15th....according to the att site.
Sprint has much cheaper plan, any mobile calling, and sprint nav.
At least Verizon, for its additional cost over sprint, offers a free hotspot app.
Even if you're tied to AT&T, i can't see buying this over the new phones coming next month.
I am liking the AT&T ads. If this is an internet ad it is fine. However, if this is a TV ad it will need a voice-over.
These are the best advertisements I have seen for these devises. Palm/HP should really take a close look at their presentations for cues on marketing their next device. The devices and choice of colors in the ads ignites one's thought of owning it.
The ads are well executed. Look at how they show of the phone's most competitive feature, multi-tasking, two words, simply and fluidly.
The textured battery covers are shown with colors that pop.
Good presentations AT&T.
They actually did respond, sort of...
Check the official webOS page, look below the video gallery. They updated to say they are starting to sell the Touchstone on May 15.
Made me want a Pixi, and I already own a Pre.
"...we'd love to see the UI on the Pixi move as quickly as it does in the video, but we're not getting our hopes up that much despite reports that the AT&T Pre Plus seems a little faster than its CDMA cousin."
Actually, that would not be surprising. Your Pre/Pixi hardware comparison explained that a lot of the Pixi's sluggishness was due to the fact that the modem used more system memory than the one in the Pre. The GSM model will have a completely different modem, so that could change the performance substantially.
The video is great. I'm really happy to see that a carrier finally "gets" WebOS.
Well done. Eye catching and informative. It really shows up what WebOS can do, and makes the Pixi stand out. I really like the Pixi's form factor and keyboard, despite having a Pre and knowing the differences in hardware. The Pixi looks like a very solid handset.
Interesting to note that an AT&T Rep has now responded publicly to the question about a release date for the AT&T Palm Pixi on the AT&T Facebook page. He notes that the "Pixie" will be launched on May 16th ... http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pixi/246038-t-palm-pixi-may-16th-per-t...
At time 0:20 in the video there is a Photobucket app shown. I can see no such application in my catalog. New applications coming with webOS 1.4.2?
every other mobile carrier has better palm videos than sprint. simply stunning
