Quick App: Dashboard Utilities 6

by Mark Jensen Sat, 29 Jan 2011 1:13 pm EST

Dashboard Utilities by developer MachiApps features six nifty utilites in one convenient package.  While there are six utilities listed on the home screen, three of the six utilities have subset functions that expand the overall utility count to nine.  The six base utilities are, in order of appearance, Count-Up Timer, Count-Down Timer, Counter(s), Checklist, Random Number Generator and Time Tracker.  Once you tap the "go" button the utility is launched in the notifications dashboard and you're set. Any number or combination of utilities can be running simultaneously whether the app is open or closed - nice.

Unlike most amalgamation utility apps, where many of the utilities fall into the novelty category, Dashboard Utilities features at least three utilities that are so well executed they may replace other, more expensive apps you've been using for some time.  In particular the checklist app allows you run multiple “to do” lists in such simple fashion it may become your default to do app.   Coding appears to be clean and efficient and the developer has updated the app numerous times in just its first month, making this app all the more appealing.  Dashboard Utilities is available in the official App Catalog for $1.49.

question: how well are old apps running under webos 2.0?

Should there be any fear in buying apps for 1.4.5 when 2.0 is imminent??

What is the screenshot counting down to? The Verizon iPhone? ;)

(Guessing it is the 2/9 webOS event)

It looks like midnight on Feb. 8th/9th or something like that. iPhone... that's actually too freakin funny.

Nice to see this app get some time on front of P|C. The developer has been amazing with updates, I got it on day one and it's been constant updates adding user requests. Two themes for the dashboard apps have been added with more on the way I guess. He added a new utility yesterday. It's a fantastic app and great support so far.

This app came out of nowhere to be one of my absolute most used apps. It's one of no-barainer must-have apps for any webOS device!

Totally agree. This app is sick (as in awesome). A buck forty-nine too - so worth it.
