Quick App: Rock Band 27
Rockers rejoice as Rock Band, the iconic music gaming franchise, recently hit Palm's official app catalog in the U.S. If you've seen Rock Band for webOS before, that's because you live in Europe, as it was uncharacteristically released first in Europe before being released in the U.S. Putting geography aside, may we say this app rocks? There is a lot to like here: full version tracks, varied gameplay (including vocals) and smooth if not downright snappy performance. Like the console versions of Rock Band, the webOS version is from Electronic Arts and is cross-branded from MTV Games and Harmonix Music Systems, which all add up to a very solid gaming experience. Rock Band for $6.99 is a definite rock solid gaming choice.

what's better for webOS? Rock band or guitar hero?

Considering that Guitar Hero is a dying franchise...Rock band would be better.
Although I'll never understand the concept of these type of games for a handheld device.
Actually, this has nothing to do with the quality of franchises and everything to do with the platforms designed for.
Guitar Hero Mobile was made for mobile phones, not for webOS. It SUCKS with a passion due to terrible sound quality, terrible controls etc.
Rock Band mobile was made specifically for Smartphones. Get it. Now.
He asked what's better for Webos.
If he's asking which app then I misunderstood him but if he's asking from a standpoint of attracting users then it would be the bigger franchise that is succeeding, Rock band.
Gotcha, I what you mean now. Very good then.
My wife bought it, and I have to say it's pretty awesome. I was skeptical about how it might scale to a handheld device, but it is serious fun. I'm debating whether to buy a second copy for my phone. It really is solid and a blast to play.

I've downloaded both Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Rock Band blows GH out of the water. With Guitar Hero, they are not full songs and the "fret" buttons are rectangles and located at the very bottom of the screen. The position and shape of the buttons make for a bad combination and are very hard to hit consistently each time.
DP
I can't get it to install :(
nice! so rockband songs are full?
i cant wait for dj hero!!!!

lol. my bad. and it wasn't the back button. i had this page open on my phone and i wanted to see a response and i was hitting refresh every time to see what people were saying. it shouldn't do that.
yeah really
stfu if your gonna talk junk to someone and then go and do the same thing.
anyway, get this game. It's worth it. Ecspecially if you're tired of NFS like me and need something to get you through the winter.
I bought Rock Band today and I have to say, it's awesome. It's a finely tuned mobile game and plays extremely well. The graphics and overall design is top notch. Highly recommended.
Bring on another app sale! :)
the only way im paying $7 for a cell phone game is if they bundle the purchase with a bj... u gotta b kidding me
I'm guessing that I'll have to re-buy the tracks I previously purchased for the Xbox version?
Wait a sec, this supports vocals? I thought they hadn't released an API for that yet?
It's "vocals." Basically the same as guitar or drums except the buttons are on the left side and scroll from right to left. You change the vocals by selecting the buttons.
thats lame..
I can't find Rock Band in the App Catalog on my Verizon Palm Pixi Plus. I've got WebOS 1.4.5.
Is it not supported on the Pixi?
