Quick Tip: Check your email stats 13
Open a folder in the email app and tap the top bar. You’ll get a handy pop-up menu that tells you the last time that folder was updated and how many emails are in that folder. As you can see, this folder has 1000 emails, even though it is set to “sync all.” It turns out that sync all only means the last 1000 messages, as when I look at that same folder in Gmail I find that I have nearly 3000 messages under that label.
If you have email set to Gmail push it will show the last time the folder was synced. Email on timed synchronization, however, shows the time until the next update. Tapping the top bar in the All Inboxes view gives you the stats for all of your accounts.

Mine does that too and I wish it wouldn't, it prevents me from opening a message until it's done.
I also have messages randomly disappear and reappear. For example, my inbox had 2 read messages in it and I get a notice of a new one, so I go to the box and see the new unread messgae, but the read ones are gone. Eventually they will reappear, usually going back to the main e-mail screen then back to the in-box will make them all show up, but not always.
New messages don't always appear right away either. I have messages show up with inbox times of say, 4am (usually mass type e-mails from newsletters or retailers) even though it's 2pm and I have received 20 other e-mails in the mean time.
Lastly, I don't like that synch deletes the e-mail from my Pre when I finally pull them off the server into my PC. Sometimes I need copies on both my PC and Pre.
Bankerdanny I have the same problem. I am really surprised that I haven't seen this listed anywhere else.
If I have five unread messages in my mailbox, and I check mail and get three more messages, it will show that I have 8 unread messages but I'll only be able to see a random few of them. So I've gotten to where I look at the number of unread emails before I download, so that if that increases I know I need to go hunt for the new email.
I usually have to go back to the main email screen and then forward into my email box again to get all the messages to appear. This, and the inability to change notification sounds, is my biggest gripe with the Pre so far.
I have a similar problem. However, my emails keep going into the trash on my Yahoo and Gmail accounts. There are some that I have never even see in the inbox on my Pre or my computer. I'm not sure what's going on, but it's really annoying. I haven't been able to find any reports of similar problems so I'm not sure what to do at this point.
Thank you for posting your dilemma with email!!! I have been having the same problem since I got this phone in September! Not only did I have to replace it twice because of battery issues my business emails and appointments were getting deleted and still are!! I am very disappointed in Palm!!! I gave them a shot this time around after I dumped my Centro for a Blackberry Curve after missing dial pad keys went MIA when I needed to make very important phone calls. Now that my business has expanded and I am constantly on the go I figured Palm really got it right this time... Seems like I have waisted both my time and money at this point!
My last email deletion deleted 80 emails from my phone. In the past there would be just 3 or 2 that would disappear and reappear... This is a really serious issue Palm better get this fixed by their next update! I am ready to jump ship back to Blackberry or maybe even Android!!!
:\
I went a little further to research the email malfunction on the Pre and found this at Palm forums:
http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=wireless_email&thread...
Seems like they have been getting similar complains over there. I gave my feedback already using their feedback form. I hope they sincerely listen and make the changes necessary!
Yeah, really nifty...especially if it would be the same at the number in the little round bubble on the top left. This is a known goof. In my particular case, it's worst with AOL. I only have two unopened/new emails...there are 5 total emails. When I touch the top bar and bring down the "menu" it says I have 5. Fair enough. But, the number in the little bubble is 12! The only way to kill that is to go into AOL from a computer and clean out all "sent" and "deleted" emails. Then, re-sync and you'll be the same as the drop down menu. It's a PITA and it's not specific to AOL. bj
Funny I just noticed this yesterday, and was going to post something today about it.
I have a similar problem as the one posted in the article above. About a week and a half ago I set up new labels and folders so that emails from specific professors would be put in different folders. I currently have my Gmail account to sync every 15 minutes. But for some reason it only syncs my inbox and so I have to go to each individual folder (when I remember too) and I often find messages that are hours or even a day or two old. Has any one else experienced this problem?
I knew this since day one on my 1.1.3 EU Pre...Just saying xD.
But yeah, thanks for the up (Y)
every time I try 2 open my tagg messagges it will not open for me to read them
