Rahul Sood joins Microsoft 20

by Dieter Bohn Wed, 22 Dec 2010 5:06 pm EST

We've heard quite a bit from Rahul Sood since HP acquired Palm - from talking up webOS gaming to appearing on the PalmCast to speaking out on the necessity of new hardware to, alas, hearing he's leaving HP to pursue another opportunity. We now know what that opportunity was - working for Microsoft as their "GM for System Experience in the Interactive Entertainment Business."

Nope, we don't know exactly what that title entails either, but we'll be interested in finding out. Meanwhile, we will still follow Sood on Twitter, where he's been laying down truth pretty much all day today as he's always done.

Congrats to you, Rahul! Would've rather seen you stay on board the webOS train however.. :P Either way, good luck!

Ouch! Palm is starting to look like the Rodney Dangerfield of smartphones. (no respect at all).

yeah it would have seem as he jumped ship. i hope this wasnt because of being unconvinced about what was coming down the pipeline in the coming months......

They are slowly moving all the "pro-Palm" crowd out.

Good Luck Rahul! Before you go completely to the evil M-pire, would you mind leaking some details about new Palm phones? Thank you for your candor. That is all.

He did leak details, and got skewered for it.

I believe his words were: "Don't expect anything soon; please stop asking when. I'd rather be straight with you"

And went from hero to zero in seconds.

He was done being straight with Palm fans after that.

Couldn't agree more! Rahul was one of a kind in that he was an absolute straight-talker while at the same time being an outspoken fan. A loss to HP Palm no matter how webOS fans look at it.

Good luck to him...

Also, YAY NEW COMMENTING SYSTEM!! let the up/down-ranking begin!!

the title means..... Three figures

I sure hope we will eventually have those rating buttons in the forums.

sellout

honestly.. this doesn't bode well.. something seems off & it's leading me to believe that we'll be severely disappointed come CES..

that would explain why he has been shilling for Microsoft in somewhat recent tweets regarding Zune, and Zune pass.

Best of luck, Mr Sood!!

According to his tweets, it looks like Windows7 is now his favorite OS.

"Windows phone 7 is the most entertaining mobile OS i've used to date. entertaining because it's animated, fun, beautiful." -RahulSood

With the lack of any recent Palm developments or chic hardware, I guess I cant really blame him. :\

Best of luck to the guy. He had his company swallowed up by HP, then about 4 years later, leaves the company for unknown reasons while Voodoo faded away into the background. Not a good way to go out, but I'm sure he made a lot of money when Voodoo was sold.

woo hoo new PreCentral layout.. Well at least the way comments are done on a Palm Pre.. Funny how this is a Pre site and it's not to palm pre friendly.

I can't add comments to someone elses? Or is this something screwy going on in my browser again?... Anyways.....msechea we get the hint you forgot that when Palm announced the Pre two years ago all they did was reserve a room and no one really seen this announcement coming...... CES is unpredictable... Companies like to surprise the media there. That's how your announcement gets alot of attention. If the media and consumers knew what you were going to announce then when you finally announce it there will be maybe a luke warm feeling. Because everyones just gonna be "eh we seen this coming" you surprise people with a surprise announcement and you get alot of attention..

look at Apple they are the kings of this.. They will announce a press meeting but know one knows what's going to happen.. They may pry out a couple leaks of things to come but then Apple side swipes them with some surprise no one seen coming....

dude if your this unhappy with Palm then leave and go Android.. We probally won't miss ya.. Unles your already an Android Troll and come to this site because Android users tend to be more boring then WebOS users.. Hahahaha...

Am I the only one who really appreciates PCs' writers style?

From comparing webOS roundup article and this one, I think Precentrals has much more of a professional tone without all of the unnecessary efforts of having a modern writing/reporting style.

In my personal opinion Roundups articles seem more in the realm of the "train of thought" and written in one sitting without review. Something that should have been remedied in a college composition class.

Just my two cents. Thanks again PC.

I agree brantal +1

Wish Rahul the best, I couldn't wait I bought a Epic off contract to see what the other side looks like. The apps are a bigger deal than I ever new. I miss multi-tasking and some of the gestures but the hardware is astounding. I loved my pre and if they can match this or better I will be back but, momentum must be regained and it has to be signifigant. 9.3 MILLION GALAXY PHONES SOLD that is huge.
