Recent survey shows Palm's mind share dropping, market share likely in tow

A ChangeWave survey of 4,028 people on June 28th gives warning that Palm's position in the smartphone market could be precarious.  Of those questioned, an alarming 0% were planning on picking up a Palm smartphone, down from 3% since the last survey. This, combined with comScore's latest assessment of the market, paints a rather grim picture for the recently acquired handset maker.   HP may have massive amounts of money and scale, but it's going to have to fight hard to even regain a portion of the mind share that Palm enjoyed back in 2009.

Beyond that, the data charted in the survey is otherwise predictable: more people than ever are looking buy a smartphone, Apple and HTC continue to grab market share and high customer satisfaction ratings while RIM continues to languish on the verge of the next version of its BlackBerry operating system.
